They claim you can turn most of the aid off.
Do they also claim the game will be playable without it? Because we have been in this situation before - you can mod a lot of the quest compass shit out of Skyrim, for example, but that fucks you, because the game does not bother with providing directions.

Man, I've been out of high end gaming for a while, but is that lip synching disastrous for uncanny valley reasons, or because it's synched to Polish? My recollection was that HL2 was much better than this. Maybe even Faxanadu was better.

[EDIT: Jesus, I've been mispronouncing "wyvern" my whole life. Next thing, I'll learn it's "ba-SIGH-lisk" or something.]

IIRC they said it's because their games come out in so many localizations, they don't lip sync to any one language in particular, rather "one-size-fits-all".

Fucking multikult.

Aren't they doing lip-sync through direct reads from audio files without any custom fiddling? They did the same thing in Witcher 2, but this time their technology seems much better. I could've sworn they talked about it in one interview.

Was I the only one that would have tried to ride the horse off the cliff at the end of the video?
If you can't do that I'm taking 3 points off the score.

Anyway, it looks like more Witcher, only buying question is, do you like open world shit?

At least the story will be (admittedly it is the whole fucking world will be destroyed if you don't stop the chosen one bs) will be better than inquistion.

What is up with the GIANT numbers and life bars over the wolfs??? Combat still looks like a low budget "slasher", graphics downgrade is obvious now, looks less and less like the pre-order trailer.

That wyvern fight didn't look too promising to me. Not utterly bad (no rolling around at least), but it was a cake walk. Don't know why they'd like to show combat with such an over-levelled character. The few hits the wyvern lands don't deplete Geralt's health much, but all of Geralt's hits take big chunks of the wyvern's health. Boring! Also, why boast that mere button mashing won't win victories, when the player in that demo IS basically button mashing as evidenced by the manic spinning and flailing of air when the wyvern is already dead. Sigh.

Weapons seem to be level restricted, which is a big minus, and you can instantly quaff potions in combat now. At about the 6 minute mark Geralt just "insta-quaffs" a Thunderbolt potion in the middle of the fight. Some might like it, I do not. Those two pots didn't seem to increase toxicity much. Hopefully this won't lead to potion spamming.

And what's with this (JRPG styled) inflation of damage and HP values. It's been ages since I played either Twitcher, but did Geralt really have hundreds of HP and do equally hundereds of points of damage per hit? Why not just divide those numbers by 10 (at least)?! I guess it is so much cooler to do 1246 pts of damage instead of 12...

Those exclamation marks on NPCs and the quest radar better be something that can be turned off and played without (i.e. quests don't assume you're using it) or there'll be hell to pay!

Demos. If you remember the hissy fits people threw at TW2 tutorial being "impossible", imagine if you brought that to a convention showfloor where people can only play for 5-15 minutes, and even less for bloggers and youtubers to pass judgement.

I "like" how these fights always take place atop of a hill.

What happens if I leave this combat area? Will the monster follow and hunt me?
What happens if I run to a small village? Will the monster kill the guards and civilians?

Why do you have to ask such inconvenient questions?? They might make people think that the game will not be as awesome as developers say.

In TW1, normal monsters would follow you and attack civilians. TW2, was honestly not memorable enough that I can recall what happened... But yes, in 3, it seems like the boss fights take place in some sort of fixed arena that I doubt we'll be able to leave.

In TW2 I believe every civilian was safely behind a gate of some kind. Also, I think critters would only follow you as long as you were in their territory.

Is it just me that's annoyed not by the fight itself but by the quest structure? Honestly, standard down-to-boot fetchquest with little character interaction, little meaningful dialogue, no choice whatsoever. I knew quests like that would come up in tw3, but during public demo should you not present the best features of your game, instead of mediocre ones?

Man, Twitcher got far less exciting out of the sudden.

Hard to do in seven minutes. The 35 minute gameplay video is more interesting: http://www.rpgcodex.net/forums/inde...full-35-minute-witcher-3-gameplay-demo.93711/

Did they get rid of the awful Diablo-style loot/crafting?

They for some reason purposefully shortened the playthrough, screen faded out few times, all dialogue options were skippied etc
possibly trying to attract bro crowd to make the game seems simple and straightforward

The longer video in the other thread paints a pretty neat looking picture; and the inclusion of swimming + larger maps leaves me with a better feeling. I liked witcher 2 more than 1, and if their trajectory keeps up then I'm guessing I'll like 3 more than 2.

Who knows, maybe they can eventually make a good gothic clone with some nice art and good writing.

The witches look pretty damn horrific tho, nicely designed... specially that fucking hive like eye.

The books made mention of the Witcher sword-fighting techniques and moves...wouldn't it be possible to at least try to implement some of these?

In Lobingen (the village near Floatsam) there were people gathering herbs or whatever in the forest during day, and monsters would attack them, and they fought with them sometimes.

On the other hand monsters in TW2 had exploitable "follow distance", after which they leave you be. You could beat these huge spider queens with cheap "bait, attack, escape, repeat" tactic.
