He was actually referring to the books. The Witcher books mention that it's mostly plain/ugly women who become sorceresses, and they use magic to correct any deficiencies in the looks department. Yennefer herself was once some kind of hunchback before her magics. The reasaon that plain women became sorceresses is kind of like how today it's usually plain women who go into the science/engineering fields. (of course there are exceptions).

Wait, and you're running this on ultra? I have the same CPU, better graphics card but half the RAM and i'm p. much forced to play on high, 1680x1050 at 40-30 fps. When i crannk one random thing to ultra, game becomes unplayable.

• Graphics are slightly improved.. Not so much textures but Water is 100x better and trees actually flow in wind.. ect (If you don't like the water on Ultra settings, you need glasses)

The water is terrible, for game that brags about visuals, I've seen water better rendered in lot's of games, some even don't dare to be considered AAA super graphics whore bait.

Witcher 1 water is much better.

Oh, and water in ultra settings differ very little from low settings.

Oh shut up. Water looks like shit from distance, but water effects and physics are phenomenal.

Lack of xp for combat is bumming me out and locked shut buildings with no means to get inside. Especially if it's a ravaged shell of a house with witcher-proof door frame (just a few inches smaller than his shoulders width).

Hmm checking now if the rollback do anything. According to the chart Mortmal posted gtx 770 should be enough for 40 fps at least

Just used frap I have 28-30 fps with a gt 560 with most stuff on, range to medium and textures to high.So its likely you are well above that.

I get the same fps as you, with some stuff on high, some stuff on normal, doesn't matter what I put it on it seems like. The game itself just runs like shit even if I can maintain that fps. It feels sluggish and jerky, like it's skipping frames or something.

Oh well. Not that impressed by the game overall. Already feeling that open world fatigue, and fighting humans is a bore. Parry, parry, block, parry, hit, hit, hit, hit, hit... will you please fucking die already. How many sword cuts can you take?! YOU DON'T EVEN WEAR ARMOUR!

Bro running the same setup as me (GTX 970, 16 GB RAM, i7 3770, non-ssd hard disk) says he cranked everything to max settings includinf nvidia hairdoodles. Then turned off depth of field, motion blur and chromatic aberration. He gets 37fps outdooes and 47fps indoors.

I know it's a bait, but yes. First 5 hours of the game are definitely better, as a game and as an crpg.

There would be a lot less Codex Edgyness™ against The Witcher series if the game had a big label saying "Warning, this is NOT an RPG. This is a fun ACTION GAME with some stats sprinkled on top".

It's an above-average story with some good twists and nice pixelated BEWBS, so...FUN. And Playboy once had a Triss Merigold "article", so there is that.

The only way I could enjoy Witcher 1 was on Hard difficulty, which made alchemy and oils mandatory. Those complaining about it being too easy should try the Death March difficulty (at least I think so, in 1-2 hours I'll buy and try myself).
