I see a no-win situation here if they go customized MC.

If female MC available - Shits on lore, is basically "fan" fiction at that point.

If not - Much seething of idiots.
we should prepare for black lesbian female witchers that identify as a male

They always claimed they repeatedly intended the witcher games to let you create your own character, only coming to their senses deciding to have you play as Geralt at some later point during development for each of the previous TW games. With all the talk about TW3/BnW concluding Geralt's story it looked like TW4 would finally be a create-a-berengar game, but after their botched experiment with a create-a-character rpg in CP2077 and the popularity of the netflix Geralt show (top 5 most watched netflix shows ever) they really should be having doubts.

I understand that Cyberpunk was a blowhole but it will be much more interesting to play Cyberpunk 2 than Witcher 4. For how long can we slay same monsters and follow same medieval lines.
I can predict future, the Starfield will be galactic success and after Witcher 4 , we will see science-fiction title from CDPR.

Steve gets a Kidney but I don't even get a tag.
Question is: will the average male gamer want to play as Ciri?. I assume she will be the new protagonist. IDK if this is a good idea, but if they're making a big open sandbox game again, maybe they should make it with the option to play as Geralt as well. Like we played W3 as Ciri. Then if they've got some sense add more Geralt with DLC.

I always thought ONE of their biggest mistakes in Witcher 3 was forcing players to do those terrible Ciri segments.

Yep, me too. Didn't say it was a good thing, but pretty sure I remember reading that they said Geralt's story was over. So I was wondering where they'll go from there. Pretty sure Ciri will the the new protagonist and then we might play as Geralt a bit just to bring in the fanbase.

Erm, sorceresses, witches, alchemist, ect exist within the Witcher universe... They could easily make a real turn based RPG with party / chargen. Versus the low low bar of a fixed protagonist and ARPG they have already done for the last three games.

Romantic tendencies should be a stat in Wicher 4. What if you could defeat a female villain by enamouring her. Discuss.

Okay, this is easy. Just treat the female villain like shit and have yuuuuge benis perk/background. You could defeat her as many times a day as your stamina/endurance allows.

The popularity of the show is undeserved and doesn't equal quality, the netflix abomination an insult to the fans of the books/original material, I hope they stay clear of it as much as possible.

The main character would have to be a Witcher, otherwise the game won't be called "Witcher" and it'd be a too big departure from the DNA of the series, the only real question is whether it will be a pre-defined protagonist or a player-crated one. We could also have multiple playable characters as it was in Witcher III, Yakuza and GTA 5 games.

It would be interesting, but I really don't think that's the idea they have in mind :/

Preferably, there would be a player-generated character with considerably more character customization (not merely in terms of appearance) than in any of the three prior Witcher games. There is already an existing tripartite schema of (physical sword) combat, magic, and alchemy abilities, which could be expanded upon, so that the player could, for example, create a character much worse at sword-fighting than Geralt but far better at magic. This would resemble the combat/magic/stealth tripartite schema formalized in The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind (arguably existing even earlier in Daggerfall or Arena), except with thief-like stealth abilities replaced by alchemical abilities. :M

They couldn't even retain the programmers needed to maintain their own engine/tech, it's going to be a complete disaster, I expect Infinitron to shill it more than he does expunditions:gypsies.

I think a predefined player created one seems like the best option for CDProject. Kind of like Mass effect, you play "the Witcher" and design their appearance and choose some of their moral outlook but it's also a predefined character that has a place in the world that it can react to and build a story around. It also allows for easier marketing and general commercialisation.

We saw that in CP77 and I don't like it. They should either write over an estabilished character like Geralt with no player ownership or do the blank-slate-ish character(V) less defined; not saying too many things without player input, no monologuing on his own.

You know what would be interesting? If you could play as a character you create, does not have to be a Witcher and story goes parallel to 3 Witcher games, they are BKG but you are doing your own thing and plot. It doesn't have to be super big in scale.

But they will do some stupid retarded shit, create your own Witcher, he can be man, woman or dwarf Witcher and is actually the bestest ewa Witcher. And you are a true chosen one and can fuck Ciri or Geralt as a love interest. 10/10 GOTY

Well someone speculated that the medallion in the picture is from the Cat school whose witchers were known to do many things outside of their profession which could lead to the possibility of having a character creator and have freedom of approach and other things like that, solving quests in many ways etc. Not having a preset character gives the devs more freedom in design.

I see no problems with CDPR introducing female witchers. They can even introduce an attack helicopter and just handwave it as "one of Azar Javed's experimental mutants".
