From a consumer viewpoint, I'd rather see another Troika that makes a couple of awezor games and then plinks out then another lame-ass "hey let's do epic plot actionRPGs over and over and over and over and over and over" BioWare.

Yet while Bioware does something new (despite recycled characters and sometimes plots) CDP just updates graphix and sells the very same game again and again. I start to doubt the ability of CDP to create something new - and something tells me that instead of a new franchise the next game will be a TW sequel.

They are making FPS known as "They" (they've changed the name). I think that it is different enough from TW to be something new.

Oh, and one of the devs said that CDPR is working on three unannounced projects. I doubt that they are making three TW titles at the same time, so one of the project must me new franchise or something.

I don't know about you, but I daresay a Witcher sequel is most likely going to be "newer" and more original in relation to, say, Mass Effect and KotOR. Furthering a story in a hopefully interesting manner while keeping the C&C goodness >>> furthering fuck-all and regurgitating the same thing for the umpteenth time with no redeeming qualities whatsoever, while having pretensions to originality and sophistication despite delivering nothing but undiluted cheese.

Blizzard can somehow get away with producing new IP only every five years or so, though, roight?

That's not being developed by CD Projekt RED, but Metropolis Software.

Oh, give me a fucking break. I don't know for you, but I've been playing the same Bioware game since NWN in terms of story and characters (I loved KOTOR, though). So let me see. Coming from your logic Bioware have been making NWN clones (at least in terms of story and characters) for what seems like 6 years now, and CD Project have been making The Witcher for 1 year.
So is it a problem if they're porting their game to consoles a year after the release of the PC version? Bioware did so with Jade Empire and Mass Effect. OH NOES THEY'RE SELLING THE SAME GAMES AGAIN AND MAKING US PAY FOR THE SAME SHIT!!11!1!!

And I really don't see a problem if they're making a sequel for The Witcher. I mean, some of us liked it, if you don't - well, it's not like it's the only RPG that's in development. That and the fact that there are surely a lot of Fallout 3 DLCs are coming out in the next few months!

I now prounounce you Bat Shit. As in Bat Shit Crazy. As the spam you just spewed is illogical beyond belief.

P.S. i have no problem with TW being ported. People whining about ports are dinkalinks.

C'mon, Volourn, I know you're fan of Bioware games and I'm fine with that, as I find them quite enjoyable, but you have to admit they're predictable beyond belief.
I have a little theory of my own, that they have one template and they're making their stories by just changing a few variables here and there. Everything that I've played just proves it

Basically yes

and CD Project have been making The Witcher for 1 year.
In just one year CDP (or better to say CDPR) managed to release TW, overhype a simple patch with several graphics improvements and sell it as a TW EE and now they've announced yet another TW EE2 only for consoles (wonder if they'll port this patch to PC next) instead of doing something new. Even something like aforementioned TW sequel.

So is it a problem if they're porting their game to consoles a year after the release of the PC version? Bioware did so with Jade Empire and Mass Effect.
That's whole 2 games.

TW sequel can be okay of course, but why not a new franchise for a change?

Nope. Proves nothing of the sort. It proves that BIO sticks with what they ahve been successful with. NWN, KOTOR, ME, JE, BG, and BG2 all share similarities but they all are different. How else do you explain that some people hate NWN but like KOTOR or like NWN and hate KOTOR?

Hell, some people hate NWN1 OC yet love HOTU despite HOTU being NWN's expansion pack.

So, nope, not the same games.

Sure, there's no doubt, like *any* company they have certain things they want in their gamnes - mostly because those are what people who buy their games want. This is why they have romances. They tried them in BG2, and people (overall) loved them hence why they keep with it. It's called giving the fans what they fuckin' want.

It's the reason why BIo is still in business and Troika isn't. BIO makes games for the fans (well the $ but you do that by making soemthing people actually want); and Troika didn't.

Fans = 1

Troika = 0

Of course, so far CDP has done what they needed to be successful. Why? They made a game people want to play. *shrug* And, there's no doubt CDP will stick with what works too.

They haven't announced anything yet ;). I think that it won't be a console port. That "trailer" which announces supposed console version is lame beyond believe, and it shows nothing new. I'm waiting for something more official.

They're working on it, just haven't announced it yet. Prove me wrong.

"TW sequel can be okay of course, but why not a new franchise for a change?"

But why change something that, at least in my opinion, still feels fresh?
Look at D&D and what Obsidian did with Mask of the Betrayer - why couldn't CDPR do something like this with their next Witcher game?
The Witcher world is big enough and most importantly, interesting enough, so I can't see why the should change the setting.

Maybe improve on the actual role playing elements - sure - but a change of setting is not nessesary for their next game to be a good game.

As for this whole "selling me a patch" thingy, I doubt that you actually bought it, so I don't see what you (and by you I mean everyone, actually) are complaining about
the way I see it they just hyped their "Game of the Year" edition, containing all the patches and some additional goodies. I mean, why not? They have the marketing budget, they do it. If you don't like it, you just turn your head the other way
besides, most of the stuff was free if you actually bought the original game, anyway, so what's the big deal

Almost five years, yeah. I must be imagining the sequels to Warcraft, Starcraft, and Diablo as well.

I don't have a problem with them releasing for consoles, but I am seriously starting to hate their attitude. Enhanced editions? Scavenger hunts? Teasing us? It all reeks of gradiose corporate bullshit. They proclaimed themselves to be the messiah of oldschool RPG fans, and they are still trying to do that with their "good old games" site, but there was nothing oldschool about their game, and their smugness is really fucking me off. It has done ever since I read the reaction of one of their smarmy devs to 1eyedking's subtitle replacement mod (basically "Congratulations penishands, you have stumbled onto one of the great mysterys of game development. Now cut it out already, those dialogues are unpolished and we don't want people to see them, unlike the ones in the game now.").

They are just like any other big developer, which is sad because they are so new, and they are from a whacky country like Poland. I believed them at first too, shame on me.

Since TW was a so ambitious game, I can actually forgive CDP a lot of their bullshit. Sure not everything worked out in the game, but at least they tried. They have a vision, that's not something one can easily say about other developers nowadays.

And as a side note, do you people really think that they are only working on the console port? I'm pretty sure that they are already making TW2, only makes sense.

The game runs like an asshole ocean on my 8800 so hopefully we get some of that updated engine shit
That's funny. My 8800GT runs it fine, as does my 8600GT. I've run it with both XP and Vista. And with both an AMD and an Intel card.
You've probably got a shit processor or half the RAM you need. Either that, or you've been downloading too many unclean images.

I've run it (unpatched) with a Radeon 9800 PRO and a Barton 2600+, not at full detail of course, I had to turn off detailed grass and some other crap, but all in all it ran quite good.
Afaik the only places where it struggled was when fighting the beast (due to all the fire) and the kikimore queen (due to the hordes of lesser kikimores upstairs.

CD Projekt RED is working on three projects, so if they're the ones developing the console port, that's still two others. (Witcher 2 and World of Witcher MMO, possibly)

As I've said the sequel can be okay. But TW had gaping holes in its storyline with unexplained lame amnesia and CDP going totally "railroady" in the end. And storyline was pretty much the only thing that kept me playing so I hope they will at least explain amnesia in a sequel and won't make it having lame cliches (and fuck all women shit) - in that case I, personally, will be interested.

Maybe improve on the actual role playing elements - sure - but a change of setting is not nessesary for their next game to be a good game.
You know by looking at the enhancements for the console version which are "kewler graphx" again instead of f.e. fixes for the terrible character system which is very linear I have doubts.

As for this whole "selling me a patch" thingy
Not "selling a patch" but "marketing a patch" - they pretty much showed that they can't fix any real issue with the game yet act like some EA or Bethesda, GOTY or not.
