Hey IronEagle, have you ever worked on a game? I mean a real, retail game? Cause I have, and you're still making shit content that looks like crap. :smug:

IronEagle is my hero. You gotta admit- the mere fact that he is able to somehow survive inside of that crazy head of his every day is a fucking miracle.
I mean, if I realized that I was an illiterate piece of inbred shit that photo-shops sexual and degrading things onto pictures of children because someone didn't like my fan-mission, I'd probably just fucking kill myself.

Bravo, Frankie! Your fight to survive is admirable.

I like to imagine that this guy is a young, inexperienced modder with an overprotective, bully and alcoholic older brother who takes his keyboard from his hands everytime he receives criticism.

'Tis sad, really. He started modding for a game he clearly doesn't like, purely in order to impress Yandros
His life can't be easy when ya think about it: young Italian boy forced to hide his sexuality and all that. Here's hoping he'll find professional help he clearly needs and, who knows, maybe even some nice lad who can love him, care for him etc.

Steve gets a Kidney but I don't even get a tag.
This is the most hilarious modder breakdown we ever had.

Hey Yandros-Penetretator, nobody's going to remove any post here, and if you go on like this nothing anyone posts about you will destroy your reputation as much as the shit you post yourself. You're acting like an immature dickhead and nobody's taking you seriously. Just grow up and stop taking everything so personally. It will make you life much easier, and much more enjoyable.

Anyway, back to Thief, guys! Yandros-Penetrator had his 5 minutes of incline.

Seven Sisters - Jarl, you taffer! Thanks you for this FM. I have fun playing it, very good city module. I'm in the middle of First Night, so I can't tell too much, but it is really great FM, with interesting city and plot.

And monkey.

He couldn't penetrate Yandros' heart.

Meanwhile, back in the land of sane taffers, a new T2 FM has been released, simply called "Michele".

It's supposed to be short and everything points to that being the case, but after a quick test run I have to ask: Is Garrett supposed to be so flammable in his older years? He sips a cup of tea from a stove and loses half his health. Then later on he passes a little too close to a fireplace and burns to death in roughly a second. :)

I'll give this a better go tomorrow.

It's actually called Castle Michele. It is a small mission, fairly simple. I didn't get burned by either of those, but I saw AI die instantly by the big fire in the castle and forgot to tell Terry to fix it, so blame that one on me (I was a tester).

Anyway, I'm glad this whole shit happened because this thead has been sitting here and I love Thief...but I've never played a single fan made mission. Good to hear recommendations.

WTF indeed. I would highly recommend starting with Ominous Bequest. Best single mission made, IMHO.

I haven't seen a blowup like this since IncendiaryDevice lived up to his name.

Also, cool recommendations guise. Will play them as soon as I can curb the urge to kill in Expert mode.

Great stuff.
First one consists of a mansion and the Mechanist facility with a decently large portion of The City in between them, filled with cool exploration and loads of shiny crap to steal. Also, mission contains rather detailed automap.
Now, second mission is the real deal (and that should tell ya something by itself, since first mission is already fantastic). Again, you'll have a decently large city-style mission filled with cool exploration and loads of shiny crap to steal... except, town of Rodamill was left ruined and depopulated by... something. Something unknown. Something awful and unnatural. This is easily one of my favorite FMs, ever. Atmosphere is just something else. I recon most players will come to a point where they will be happy to hear a mechanist or a burrick or even a ghost, just so they can know that they are facing something familiar.
Just go play 'em, if you haven't already. Their biggest "flaw" is that they were meant to be part 1 and 2 of a trilogy. Sadly, third mission was never made, and so story is left unfinished and second mission ends with something of a tease.

Some FMs need Thief 1/Gold, most of them require Thief 2. The Doom 3 engine is no longer required as The Dark Mod is now a standalone program.

Cool, but do I need to install The Dark Mod and run FMs through it? Or do I install Thief 2 and run FMs from it? Or do I need The Dark Mod and some files from Thief1/2 to run FMs?

Edit: Ok, I did my reading like a proper adult and now I know what I need and why.

For the benefit of any others who might read this thread: No, The Dark Mod is [actually was, since it's now standalone] a conversion of Doom 3 to a stealth game very similar to Thief, it has nothing to do with playing missions for Thief 1 and 2. All you need to play missions in the original two games is the latest patch.

The best fan mission(s) of all-time, IMO, is Eshaktaar's Broken Triad. So, if you haven't played FMs before, play it last because everything else will look worse when compared to it.

Basically:
- get the newdark patch
- download FMs and put them into a dedicated FM folder
- either use newdark's built-in FM loader (I never used it so I dunno how it works) or use DarkLoader, a free program you can download
- use your selected FM loader and install a FM
- play by launching it via the FM loader

Easy as that.
