That midget recovered and after years of rehabilitation went on to become Super Mario.

True story.

That's cynical - Tom Hall always wanted to create a Mario-like 2d platformer. At id they started to clone Mario from NES to the PC introducing the super-smooth scrolling engine of Carmack. But Nintendo just told them to piss off and prohibited them to use any element from Mario in their game. So, Mario became Commander Keen.

But seriously, since the social game shit is finally declining Loot Drop should worry about their future after this KS mess.

Hopefully this works out for them. Game don't sound bad, apart from the future setting, but at least there are wizardry 8 inspirations, with hopefully less retarded races and more customization options (feats/talents/traits)

I don't see this succeeding, but stranger things have happened on kickstarter. Maybe they'll pull some magic out of their ass, but this got off to an incredibly bad start and their attempts to fix it are like putting a bandaid on a bullet wound. Meh.

The main problem I saw was this weird "2 games" stretch goal. This sounds as if they were not really dedicated to any vision at all. No vision = no money.

Tough words... but unfortunately you are right. I see it the same way, but as I'm a die-hard fan of Wizardry 8, they just got me in as they said this game will be something in the likeness of it.
Despite I would feel better if they just cancel their kickstarter with an honest message that they didn't put enough thought in it, and that they will come back some months later with a well elaborated concept and lower base fund (e.g. 500.000 $).

I am still not sure if it's really a niche market (thinking of the Might & Magic series...) or the bad pitch. To be honest, I've just read all Updates from "Project Eternity" from beginning to end and it remains like the same bad joke to me - - - because there is still hardly any information in there. Ridiculous. Definitely not more than in the "Shaker" kickstarter at this point. And yet they made the pull.

And the most important detail that makes their pitch totally untrustworthy: they are developing on Macs :D

Once a project gets a bad buzz it's hard to shake it :troll:off. But who knows, they could do some lines of coke, make a new video and go on a media blitz like the tactical shooter guys. Tom Hall is a funny guy, he should be able to sell this, and maybe they can even play the Romero card to their advantage.

Or not.

I wish people would stop even mentioning Wizardry in the same breath as this turd. Brenda Bratwurst basically worked on the manuals/documentation of Wiz 1-7 and had design credits on Wiz 8, which apparently amounted to story/dialogue/editing while the usual suspects did the real design of the game and mechanics.

This is simply Tom Hall, a has-been action game designer and a bleached hair nobody trying to milk the kickstarter crowd. Nothing more and nothing less. Tell me, what "OLDSCHOOLRPG" did Tom Hall help design? And no, Anachronox isn't one.

Haha, Grimoire already took over the comments section of Shaker on KS. Now, the codex should order his minions to move all those poor souls from Shaker to Grimoire - decreasing pledges on KS would be the ultimate humiliation.

Not sure linking to that RPGWatch thread is doing him a service. Then again ?????? can be interpreted in many ways...

Personally I've always valued gaming stocks as if they were biotech startups aka gambling. But it's good to see some other financial fag on the Codex.

There was a serial troller on there just cutting people to shreds, it was pretty good. I think if people have 1 dollar to spare to put in a dummy pledge, they can remind people when the Shaker KS crashes and burns to make sure to head over to Grimiore and pledge there. Either way this is great stuff.

not only did Obsidian put out pre-excitment before their kickstarter, when I saw theirs I sure felt i knew what game they would pitch and apart from some mechanics it was exactly what I thought. (Baldurs gate)

When I saw this project I had little to no idea what it would be. They didn't really say or state anything at all.

I had a pledge but I had to cancel it cause the updates were so unbelievably bad they just made me depressed when I saw them in my mail. :( :(
