Would be interesting to see if these people would be ok with their "strong female protagonist" constantly running into brick walls because of the sexist views of key players (merchants, rulers), or if they rather expect that their character presses all the right buttons all the time and coerces a misogynist world into doing their bidding. I'd suspect the latter.

Here are some stretch goals I like:

2.5 million: Ziets!!! Ideally as a permanent member of the inXile team.
3.0 million: Moar artists!
3.5-4 million: Get a real, established, SciFi writer, one who can actually write decent prose and is not just about ideas, to write the dialogue for one of the NPCs. I suggest Iain Banks or Neal Stephenson or Joe Haldeman. Neal Stephenson may be more likely to agree because he is already messing around with video game stuff.
Bro, you are totally forgetting the essential 2D backgrounds goal :decline:

I would go for:
2.0mil - the face that did not remember - model by Prosper
3.0mil - hire GZiets permanently
4.0mil - 2D art

Possibly upcoming either way:
- MCA goal, don't know in what capacity
- core team playing Numenera P&P session

Not only that, comments are dead too (though it is all for the best)

Pledges still comin' in tho. Before I logged out so they can get on fixing it, it was at $1,785,630.

Just looks like the page itself froze up for some reason. Annoying. Hope Kickstarter guys get it fixed soon.

Meh I don't want to see MCA. I would like them doing a PnP session with the games ruleset though.

Just like the old BIS days.

It is updating for me, though it's slow. (P.S. You'll probably read this tomorrow, because of the stupid posting rule)

Unlike DnD which everyone and their brother is familiar with, I would actually be interested in seeing a Numenera pnp session. They've got to pull it off better than the Obsidian one though. Trying to watch that was awful. Poor Sawyer was the only one taking it seriously and I couldn't hear what was going on half the time anyways.

Still stuck for me at 1,756,109. Has been for some time now.

Scratch that. Was fixed immediately after I started complaining.

Considering it's a game built over the late 90's RPG design as long as you have 10 charisma or whatever the entire world will kiss your feet.

Give us $500k and you can watch us play some P&P.

Attaching something like that (such as the MCA Arcanum playthrough) to a monetary amount is dumb. If they want to do it to draw up interest and get people involved, great, but I don't see why anyone would give money to see it.

With as ludicrous setting period as "a billion years in future" contemporary view on relations between sexes in setting could be... anything. Morphological/anatomical differences between male and female could have been revised in either direction (greater equality or caricature level difference) back and forth hundreds of times in that time frame.

Unless someone of you has Numanera sourcebook to quote from it we should just drop the issue. Though I'd guess its conventional PnP RPG "males and females in this setting are nearly equal in everything stat wise blah blah".

Ofc with fractured post^99-apocalyptic setting there is likely hundred different cultures and views on the issue in setting.

And really guys, do you really fear InXile will listen to BSN backers and make game into a dating sim like say all recent Bioware games?

It would be even more amusing to see peoples reactions to the male character running into those same brick walls due to the local setting favouring females. After all, it could be inhabited by a bio-engineered human sub-species modelled on the black widow spider :P

Not that the protagonist is likely to be anything like what we would consider human, at least internally.

Well one thing we DO know, it's not Herve.

Also the comment section seems to still be frozen?

EDIT: They seem to work now.

Personally I wouldn't mind playing an inherently disadvantaged character (although the Amazonian womyn vs. mal drones trope is kinda tired); say a race of brutes that is exceptionally tough but loathed and gets charged ridiculous prices anywhere. That or a sexist world, both could be interesting. I suspect that people like a lot of those in the comments section would go apeshit though.

:x
