Strech goals are not only about that female pc, they are basically , deeper story and more interactions, more text from known writers and a live orchestra . All of this can hardly be more :obviously: .

If you're a certain kind of fag, yes.

If you're the other kind of fag, you'd probably prefer them to make up their minds what kind of fucking combat system they're going to use, and might take offense at "but u know wat u can skip combat anyways, lol".

You mean they deliberately withheld the stretch goal info, so that they could create buzz by claiming that the project got funded so quickly they did not have any handy? I guess that would fit in Fargo's promotional bag of tricks.

Fargo would have never gotten this far by being a moron. I believe stretch goals are an interesting mechanic. Obviously they have been thought up in advance.. they have to be. However... since they are basically used as bait for more cash, timing is essential. As are the "pricepoint" they are to be put. So I'm sure the goals have been thought of in advance, however, depending on the succes of your kickstarter, they must be placed wisely. Why waste all your ammo trying to get a herd to run when one bullet could be enough. Only after your initial goal has been met and careful analysis of the speed of pledges and which tiers need added options, can one decide where to place them. Why bring in Ziets @ 2 mil when you are already near 2 mil.

I've no doubt Brian is trying to decide which stretch goals should be placed where and when right now.

The first stretch goal, set at 1.2 million dollars and which had in fact already been reached at the time of the update's publishing, is the addition of a female PC to the game.
Where exactly does it say that the female PC was the one added and not the male? Or is that just assumed?

Hmm...good point. Should I update OP or be proud of my androcentrism?
I suppose you could do both :D

Well planescape caters more to the story fag than the combat fag, i m not expecting wonders on this.. I dont remember anyone praising it for its combat , now the new torment might have better combat, but better to keep expectations low , if we already get something comparable to planescape it will be good enough for me. As for the live orchestra i dont understand how having higher quality music be considered a waste of money.

Here are some stretch goals I like:

2.5 million: Ziets!!! Ideally as a permanent member of the inXile team.
3.0 million: Moar artists!
3.5-4 million: Get a real, established, SciFi writer, one who can actually write decent prose and is not just about ideas, to write the dialogue for one of the NPCs. I suggest Iain Banks or Neal Stephenson or Joe Haldeman. Neal Stephenson may be more likely to agree because he is already messing around with video game stuff.

Being a spiritual successor to PS:T is not an excuse for being terrible (i.e. walls of text between nothingness). But dead horse is dead. They are aware of this FWIW

Problem is retards wit male power fantasies... that's probably the only reason we don't have a female-only PC in a RPG yet. So many adventure games have a female lead character, and mostly it leads to a welcome sensibility and different kind of mood that would be very nice to see in a proper RPG.
Well you have to venture into far into the East, but Parasite Eve is a JRPG with a set female protagonist.

Moar like what does one haircut matter?

Btw... speaking of which... I'm really not a very good English speaker, but is "What does one life matter?" correct? Shouldn't it be "Does one life matter?" "What" suggests a quantifiable amount... and matter is either yer or no...
I think it's more "how much does one life matter".

Why can't inXile turn the tables and put some male prostitutes into the game? Or have homosexual relationships be the norm and heterosexuality the aberration? These are all good ways to subvert our expectations without turning the setting into teletubbyland.

1) It *could* be good to have themes of sexual inequality explored in-game, so long as it is made very clear that the sexism in the game is *wrong*. Dangerous though in the sense that it'd be very easy to screw up.
2) There's also a problem to consider when the go-to empowered female trope is basically to take the usual suspect of the a macho hyper-violent testosterone fueled warrior and wrap it in a female body mesh and female voice acting. Room should be made for empowered female characters that don't fall into this category.

As a big fan of the original Mass Effect, I would also lend my voice to the chorus of players seeking strong female protagonist options, being able to play the character as I want to rather than as a game script forces me to play her. I also hope strongly that both male and female characters will have a voice in the game. It is common to have the main character be 'silent' on screen, but I much prefer Mass Effect's vocal protagonist. I feel much more inspired to care about a character with a strong voice in the narrative. I also hope strongly that we will be able to design the look of our characters as well

For instance, Dragon Age 2 allowed the player to choose whether to be a sexual deviant, or a prude paragon of virtue, or the shades of gray that lay between. And there were characters the player interacted with who were sexist, and others who were more virtuous. If Dragon Age 2 had opted to tip-toe around issues of sexism, homosexuality and a number of other controversial and polarizing subjects, do you think the depth of choice and the believability of the characters in the world would have suffered?

I can't believe it, why suddenly Torment has become so appealing to all those shameless perverts? Mr Fargo, you have FUCKED UP with this female character as a stretch goal, now every god damn queer from Bioware Social Network wants P:T successor to be his sick interactive fantasy porn ideal. It's funny how every faggot there is using 'gander' term instead of 'sex', poor brainwashed creatures.

If Torment 2 is touching metaphysical subjects, why in hell do we need male/female protagonist? Sex is totally irrelevant from philosophical point of view when we are talking about transcendental beings and values. After reading 3 pages of comments I'm truly disgusted with intellectual level of those people

Is it just me or is the KS stuck? It's been at $1,756,109 forever despite refreshes.
