I like the girls in the comments complaining that the female PC is too ugly for them.

"Please add hair customization!! It's important!"

Male nerds by default want to play thinly-rationalized psychopath big men

Female nerds by default want to play either ice cold beauties or the world's cutest ingenue/rape victim (read a fanfiction if you doubt this)

The constituency that genuinely wants a legit everywoman is pretty small

A billion years into the future humans would probably not look very human and may not reproduce sexually or have what we think of as secondary sexual characteristics. And our monkey-based genetics are unlikely to survive that long and remain the dominant life form on the planet. Actually any naturally reproducing biological life form is unlikely to the be dominant intelligent species that far into the future.

I believe this too.

However, beauty does not necessarily equal massive exposed tits and the asses in tight pants.

The first stretch goal, set at 1.2 million dollars and which had in fact already been reached at the time of the update's publishing, is the addition of a female PC to the game.
Where exactly does it say that the female PC was the one added and not the male? Or is that just assumed?

Hmm...good point. Should I update OP or be proud of my androcentrism?

How many moneys do we need to pile before we get our severely disabled protagonist option? Wtf, why are we even catering to subhumans and lesser species in the first place?

You mean they deliberately withheld the stretch goal info, so that they could create buzz by claiming that the project got funded so quickly they did not have any handy? I guess that would fit in Fargo's promotional bag of tricks.

You could also argue the opposite, they had the concept art ready for the gender that would be in even without hitting a stretch goal.

This is ignoring the possibility they were taking more time to work on the art for the PC they knew would be in the game with or without the stretch goal. And the fact there is no rush (as there would be to present an image for a stretch goal).

The rate of funding did catch us off guard to have stretch goals ready. We never dreamed of such success.
That's what Obsidian said during the PE Kickstarter. I guess game developer is not a learning animal.

But this funded even faster than PE. PE took 27 hours and they were surprised by that. inXile was prepared for a day. They were not prepared for 6 hours.

Strech goals are not only about that female pc, they are basically , deeper story and more interactions, more text from known writers and a live orchestra . All of this can hardly be more :obviously: .

Yeah that is a waste. But for the unwashed masses, they think it is a OMG! SO AWESOME!

Though Storm of Zehir had live orchestra music as well, and that turned out pretty good.

To be honest, I actually thought it would struggle to even get 1 Mil.

I completely did also. I had no faith in this before they popped the cork and the amazing concept/CMcC pitch (where he radiated absolute fucking zero-irony sincerity, which so rare on the internet it makes your eyeballs itch to see it)
