I dont personally hold out much hope that they will reach the new goal. But more money for the games development is always nice. Unless your Tim Schafer

I'm guessing that if the Gullet becomes a reality, you can meet Artaglio there, "half-digested, [...] in screaming agony", if you use him to open the portal like they did in the trailer. At least, I'd hope so... choice and consequence and all that jazz

I admit that I have not read the last few pages for this answer. Has the story changed from you being a lone "castaway" to there being dozens (or a whole society of them)? If so, I enjoyed the original version more. It reminded me more of the TNO in the sense that it was a phenomena and a mystery. Now, I feel that they toned down the mystery.

I seem to remember the original pitch mentioned that there had been numerous castoffs.

Right, but I thought it was a far smaller number. The recent update makes it seem like a whole society of castoffs.

You are correct I just read the update and it seems like there are a lot more castoff's then I thought there would be. Having said that the tag line is "What does one life matter".

It blasted some of my assumptions apart too, like the fact Castoffs are apparently public knowledge if an entire mercenary company knows who they are.

I had a similar thought at first about the tag, but I still feel that the older version covered that better. I thought the creator/progenitor would replace the host bodies (castoffs) like nothing, and therefore the story would cover the worth of a life/body when such things are disposable/replaceable. Instead, we have dozens of castoffs, which I am not certain why. Are the castoffs still used as replacement bodies? It seems that the bodies are long lived, so why would the progenitor need so many?

On that basis, I assume the story had to have shifted drastically somewhat, especially now since the main character is not alone like TNO.

I am starting to think that the Castoffs mirror, or at least remind me of, the Bhaalspawn of Baldur's Gate.

Castoffs must be quite common and well known if the leader of the mercenaries can not only recognise the tattoo on sight. But also comment on how "Your brethren shattered out morale at the endless battle".

But it's also possible by brethren he means that the castoff is also a part of a larger race or force that defeated him or his people.

This looks like a game from 20 years ago. The UI is EXTREMELY outdated. I don't like how when you interact with an NPC the UI takes up half the screen.

I don't like the text boxes everywhere when someone talks. If you're going to have voice over, why have text all over the screen?

This game isn't coming out for a year, and it already looks outdated. Very disappointing.

Kill me.

Infinitron: I can only hope that he was unaware of the Kickstarter till now. Not sure how he got far without seeing the previews otherwise.

Well, that's a good point about the Bhaalspawn. It makes more sense to me now.

It's not just about making an immortal body. As I understand it, the Changing God is attempting to become literally invincible, so he keeps making bodies with more and stranger powers.

Well, you didn't know there was a whole society of those until ToB. :P

It's an original twist. Let's see where they take it.

  • To be honest, Artaglio is a minor enough character (in the current design, you never have to talk to him) that he probably wouldn't be voiced in the real game. We partially voiced him for purposes of the video, to illustrate how our voiced conversations might be, and also because voice adds a lot to the scene and the video. (The voice actor was our talented audio director, Alex Brandon, so it was essentially free.))

Wow. So Alexander Brandon works on this. I somehow missed that.

He's been working with inXile for a long time. He was in charge of all non-music audio in Wasteland 2.

If you recall, it's already been stated that your sire is changing bodies because it's running/hiding from something. It's changing disguises essentially.

I think it was also stated that you didn't know if there were other castoffs or not, but I guess now it's clear.

You do realize backers are from all over the world, don't you?
I can decently understand not-heavily accented English, but I still want my subtitles.

STOP THE LIES!!!11

Knowing that others exist and there being "a society of them" are very different things. However, it was originally mentioned that he "he never knew that his bodies lived on as his consciousness fled, a new consciousness arising in each", so something has clearly changed in the story. (Or potentially the Changing God is ridiculously old, and "centuries ago" when he met the first castoff was still a very long time after he started making castoffs, and that it was "centuries ago" that he awoke the Angel of Entropy)

With that said, as the ones coming for the Changing God grow ever nearer (be that the original "Angel of Entropy" or "the Sorrow"), it makes sense that he becomes more frantic in his research. I could easily see him making more and more castoffs as his efforts to elude his followers escalate.

Oh well, thanks for the info then. I took the shortcut of quoting a quote..
