They clearly believe they will not raise a significantly lesser amounts with this approach. Also so far people have overwhelmingly supported a stronger focus on digital tiers. Oh well, we shall see.

They can always add more during the Kickstarter if things slow down.

I don't know what you mean by "early rewards" but if it is what I think it is, then it's shit. skip that. have one early bird tier instead (but not for the 1st tier). Be more colorful and precise in your tier descriptions.

Here's my Zedified digital KS rewards (NOTE THE USE OF ADJECTIVES AND OTHER FUN INTEREST-GRABBING WORDSMITHING):

$29 - Pleb's Basic Digital

REWARDS: Digital download of the epic RPG Numenernera: Torment whatever, Digital Game Manual with descriptions of game systems, the world and more, Digital Concept Art Book featuring fantastic artwork by the team at inxile, Special KICKSTARTER-ONLY behind-the-scenes notes for the game's characters, locations and more written by the game's designers (delivered as PDF) and a KS-exclusive Wallpaper (in all common desktop resolutions)!

$45 - Enthusiast's Digital

Basic Digital PLUS Mark Morgan's fantastic soundtrack (MP3/lossless FLAC) + Digital novels written by a bunch of dudes.

$69 - Undying Fan's Digital

Enthusiast's Digital PLUS Digital Version of Cloth Map, An Introductory Guide to Numenernarnara by Monte Cooke (PDF), special thanks in the game's credits!

Kickstarter exclusive news doesn't seem like a good idea to me. In the end all you do is prevent people who are interested in the buying the game from learning about it.

Because people wouldn't repost the hell out of them, presumably? I can already see Infinitron's brofist count rise.

yep that's definitely a shit idea.
post-release tidbits, like the stuff I suggest (Special KICKSTARTER-ONLY behind-the-scenes notes for the game's characters, locations and more written by the game's designers (delivered as PDF)) would be a nice incentive though.

Maybe the costs of actually producing and shipping rewards for the physical tiers scared them. They do actually have one successful KS campaign under their belts, which is more experience than most.
I agree, but even the digital goodies are very few. I'm with Zed in this. Why don't give more digital perks for the lower tiers? I concur that physical perks and tiers grab a significant amount from the Kickstarter funds, but why don plan for those too from the beginning?

I thought you mean like character notes during production.

The tiers are really weird, they give this vibe of inXile being too stingy with the rewards. I'll probably go for the Oddity Collector, but obviously it will depend on how many funds I'll have at the moment of the campaign start. Stingy inXile.

It's more like the earliest Kickstarters kinda screwed over the later ones by going way too cheap. Losing about a third on percentages and rewards is just too much, especially if you want to present a reasonable minimum. It's not so much stinginess as switching Kickstarter from "omg dreamboat" to "this is just realistic".
And what about more digital rewards? Do they are more unwelding costs? I know that producing novels and art books (even in digital format) are somewhat expensive, but I'm pretty sure they are lower than the equivalent physical goods. I mean more digital perks for lower tiers.

We will have to know the goal of the Kickstarter to be able to put these prices into perspective, I mean, if they are looking at $1mil then 25$ for lowest tier sounds a bit steep, but if they will air for $2mil or $3mil (hopefully!) then it makes a bit more sense.

Seriously? Who will be Victorious? Though granted the general public are retarded (especially with their money, and nostalgia).

Well, yeah, but I still think the timing is a bit unfortunate for Torment. A lot of people might pledge to Garriott's kickstarter simply because IT'S LORD BRITISH. I have hope people are smarter than that, but I do fear it might drive some (hopefully just a little) funding away from Torment.

Garriott has already overseen the creation of a full-fledged MMO that was unbelievably shitty. We'll see if the implied prophecy in my forum signature will be fulfilled once the Facebook MMO is released. :smug:
