The only problem with indie games that go for retro looks like 8-Bit graphics are that the developers focus too much on nostalgia and ignore art design or any kind of design leaving to bland and easy to forget games and worlds.

Otherwise, there is nothing wrong with still using 8-Bit or other retro-style graphics, it's just that developers forget to do their own thing a lot of the time.

If you take 20 monkeys and you force them to code a RPG then in 10 years they will produce something like AoD while in 1000 years they will produce something like Fallout 1 :)

Which would still be sooner than any of the current lot of devs require to come up with an equivalent.

Or maybe they'll just come up with this :

But if they make their project a Codex one and get their own sub-forum, they'll get unlimited praise for it ...

FIFA/PES are the best RPGs ever made.
  • You can roll your stats.
  • You can play any build.
  • You can make your own choices, and that makes you win/lose matches and have a successful/unsuccessful career.
  • Has choice & consequence.
  • And most important of all, there's no failed build because even with the shittiest build you can still play the game to completion in Career Mode, just in a low ranked club.
But because they are action RPGs the Codex hates them.

Rated fake news because IIRC the basketball games have more stats.

Builds > Stats

There are many, many positions you can play in a football game. And because games tend to have very few goals, your build makes that much of a difference.

Bullshit, I had teams made from from scratch and watched them play. No action required. Pure RPG.

Steve gets a Kidney but I don't even get a tag.
RTWP is superior to turn based in every possible way. The only reason to play turn based games is for a change of flavor.

My turn now.

Romance is what makes the Baldur's Gate series so popular, why else enduring the combat ?

Which brings me to the conclusion : Codex BG's fans are suckers for video-games romances.

Diablo III is the best in the series.
To be fair, when it came out, it wasn't that great, the problems with getting online, the auction house, and i recall that the game for some reason didn't give as much great loot at launch as you would expect from a Diablo game, Blizzard did go ahead and fix many problems though.

It is now a good and fun game, but people had reasons to not be happy at the start.
