Chapter 1:
We now head on back to Oleg's trading post. Sell some of the loot, including the emerald, we don't need to hold to on it, as there will be another opportunity to get another. The reason why an emerald is important is because it is required for a quest much later, but that isn't until later so we shouldn't worry about that. For now we rest, then buy. Here is what I will buy: 2 bark skin potions, 1 full plate armor, 2 shield of faith scrolls, 2 enlarge potions, and finally 10 light cure wounds potions.
We have a couple of things we can do here. We can either continue poking at specific areas for more loot and gold, or we can go and save one of our companions. I recommend saving one of the companions. As I have already gotten all the necessary gear and potions I will need. We will be aiming to save Harrim at the Ancient Tomb. Harrim is a great well rounded cleric, his only problem however is that he has crap DEX. But that is easily fixable by throwing a belt on him. By doing so we can qualify him for combat reflexes, which will be needed for AoO stacking.
Just in case you forgot where the location is at, here it is:
So the Ancient Tomb can be brutal for early unfair, but we came prepared! First have your fighter and Valerie drink the bark skin potions. Next have Jaethal use the Shield of Faith scrolls on both you and Valerie. Afterwards, have Jaethal cast guidance on everyone. Then have Jaethal cast bless, if you didn't pick this spell up on her level 2 inquisitor level up, then that's fine. No big deal. Once your done, have her cast divine favor on herself. Finally, have your main character quaff an enlarge potion. Double check that Jaethal and Amiri have their reach weapons equipped. Also make sure Amiri's rage ability is selected. When the fight does start make sure you have Jaethal's inquisitor ability "Justice" selected.
Now, this going to require a bit of a breakdown, so bear with me here.
Send Valerie in, have her initiate the fight. Send your fighter in after the archer from the sides, depending on how high your initiative roll was you can possibly go for a charge on the archer. Have Valerie move towards the incoming melee enemy. Have Amiri and Jaethal collapse on the incoming melee user that Valerie is moving towards to. Now clench them cheeks and pray.. Sorry, but this fight is dependent on so many factors. If Harrim dies on the first melee attack, Jaethal and Amiri are fucked. If Valerie gets one shotted by the incoming melee fighter that she is supposed to keep distracted, then your all fucked. If your fighter fails to kill the archer upon the first hit, then your fucked. Unfortunately this fight is just unfun on unfair, and will take a couple of tries.
After you're done, leave the Tomb, then do the storybook event. Depending on your rolls, you may or may not pass them. I managed to succeed on all of them. If you failed them, you may need to search for the Pine Patch area manually. The encounter at this area is pretty easy, you are going to face a couple of kobolds. Shouldn't be too difficult, but since it's unfair, you never know. Anyways, make sure you first recover some HP. Then have your fighter drink an enlarge potion. After that, have Valerie move forward. Pull everyone back, then have them all charge. Like so:
Make sure you explore the entire area for some loot before leaving. By the way, here is the location of the area in case you failed all the story book checks after leaving the tomb:
This concludes this part of the guide. If you find yourself struggling, remember that sometimes you just need to reload a few times. A good roll can make a huge difference.
