Enjoy the Revolution! Another revolution around the sun that is.
Apparently some insider information leaked that Ubisoft is so embarrassed by Star Wars Outlaws, and other continued failures, that they're wanting Valve to restrict its API access. Other un-named companies are also on board with this sentiment according to the substack post where these claims originated. Of course it tracks that some shill triple A companies would want the data hidden. Their stock holders won't have easy information on how badly they've fucked up. Either way pretty interesting development. I'm hopeful that Valve will stand firm, and reject these stupid ideas. Especially coming from a company that begrudgingly returned to Steam after trying to peddle their own shitty marketplace for years. You don't get to make terrible decisions, and then try to force Steam's policies to your wants. They should be sucking Gaben's dick for allowing them a place to sell their shovelware games.

do you still need to have their launcher open in the background? games now say they require a linked account and nothing more. EA stuff clarifies it needs their app running in the background.

Or what? They're gonna leave again? Yeah good luck with that. :positive:
Removing the Ubishit games from Steam would improve the platform.
There are plenty of good Ubisoft games on Steam, just not the most recent and most popular ones.
They all require their shit launcher, so fuck em.
That's not true. The oldest ones don't. I've fired up some Silent Hunter III recently and it didn't come with any launcher. All the recent ones do tho.

I hate Ubisoft as much as any normal person and I dont doubt they want to hide player numbers for their games, but this whole story came from a literally who substack... the article itself is also behind a sub paywall.
I find hard to believe this "insider"exists. If he does exists, he is just spewing out logical shit after seeing many ubisoft games flopping hard on steam.
This story has zero believability.

edit:all other tech/gaming sites talking about this story link the same unkown substack as source... there is no other sources besides this shit substack.

Yeah upon further investigation, it is true that substack is the only source for this story. Either way the story doesn't have zero believability, rather it just has extremely low credibility. Still thought it was worth it's own thread. I'm sure if it's true we will hear more come out about it later, and then we'll know if it's bullshit or not.

Oh yeah... I messed up, i wanted to say low credibility but the word did not crossed my mind while posting.
I believe that ubisoft wants to hide their stats but this substack has no credibility at all. If you look at their other posts/stories, its only opnion pieces that look like your average twitter user posts, talking about DEI, woke shit and elon musk.
