Weapon mods?

What about stealth? Any special equipment to aid with sneaking?

In JA2, when your mercs hear footsteps, there is a text message (you hear faint footsteps from NW) and a visual indicator in game screen about where the sound is coming from so even from behind walls, you can get a sense of lurking dangers. Is there anything similar to this?

Obviously, the correct reply is: "Come at me, bro!"

No, I am dismissive of them. You don't explain half of them, and the other half I disagree with. For example, you claim that the Codex contributions are bad because in your mind while Fargo is totally trustworthy Annie and Brian are not.

Bull-fucking-shit. For all the good things about Fargo, he has been involved in a company the Codex now despises, and we have an almost direct line to Annie and Brian (they're really easy to get ahold of for the staff) while Fargo in most regards is far away. In short, plenty of things speaks for and against Brian, Annie and Fargo. There is no way you can conclude from the small tidbits we've seen of either game than anyone will be more of what we want than the other. Except that Wasteland 2 has more moneyz lol
I don't even... You have lot to learn, my young padawan. How about you dial your direct line and get them to release a video of, let's say 20 minutes of uncut gameplay. Some dialog with the survivors, some interface and character sheet manipulation, some human vs zombie combat and some human vs human combat. After 3 years of development, that should be about 30 minutes of work + time to upload it. In 2 hours tops, the issue of vaporware and "reskinned AoD" could be settled.

why are you so butthurt about my comments and me pledging to the zombie game ololololol

*sigh*

I don't care that you didn't pledge, but I am disdainful of the view that backing a resurgence of oldschool mechanics is a bad thing. The Codex exists for the purposes of this very debate - exists to figure out how to get more good shit. At least it does for me. You seem to think pledging to games that hold what we want as guiding stars for their design is a bad idea - I do not. Hence we disagree, hence we discuss.

Troll away when you get tired of the discussion motherfucker, you know I'm an easy target. What I'm here for is enlightening shouting matches, and the kind where you shout butthurt at my shouts aren't that fucking enlightening.
You really are a witless fag, Grunker. I can see you're joy to be around. You're like a fucking lawyer... The butthurt comments are a play on all other comments calling every poster they don't agree with butthurt. You didn't notice the pattern?

Are you just skimming through my posts? That's cool (it was somewhat TL; DR), but you're coming off as stupid with all the strawmen. You don't want to be perceived as stupid, do you Grunker?

You seem to think pledging to games that hold what we want as guiding stars for their design is a bad idea - I do not.
This is pretty good. Just enough truth to seem credible. I guess you are learning. Let me fix it by adding the rest of the truth: You seem to think that pledging to games that spend 3 years in development and have no gameplay to show for it, almost get canceled before hopping on the Kickstarter bandwagon, a bad idea - I suck cocks and am butthurt about you questioning my blind faith and pledge in said game.

Yes, I do, but you do not explain in depth what it is that you are so fucking afraid of. If it's just that all these projects turn into vapourware and the money is wasted, well, do you think that will kill Kickstarter or the possible resurgence it can start? I don't. At most, it will stop further Kickstarter projects without a half-finished game to present, which is cool with me.

Any investment, and this goes for Kickstarter as well, is a risk. Some (Dead State, Wasteland 2) are bigger than others (Xenonauts). So the size of the reward you might reap needs to make up for the risk. The promised rewards for Dead Money and Wasteland 2 are.
Would you like a dissertation on the subject? It's a simple argument and very much open to speculation (that's why we're calling each other butthurt, no?).

Do you understand how (online) betting works and how bets influence future odds? Do you understand laws of supply and demand and similar basic economic stuffies (like inflation)? Of course you do, you're an educated young man (person? what's the proper terminology for people like you? I'm still not in the loop on these things, sorry). Great. Now apply this to the issue at hand and think about it a bit. Then you can proceed to call me a stupid butthurt retard if you think I'm wrong, but if you can't understand what I'm saying, I guess the only thing left is to just continue trolling each other.

In closing, should you still feel I am a retard incapable of understanding (feel free to quote that out of context too, I made it just for you! ;)) your meaning, then might the reason be, perhaps, that you are unable to convey it properly?
Nah, brah, you were right the first time. Rememeber, always go with the simplest explanation, Ockham demands it. That will go great with the other quote of yours in my sig, thank you! You always think of me! A true bro :salute:

"If you can't explain it simply, you don't understand it well enough."

- Albert
This is so weak, bro. It pains me having to resort to such a slam dunk retort, but I guess this doesn't deserve any better:

"A witty saying proves nothing." - Voltaire

There, I hope you're happy. You managed to drag me to filthy shallows of your wit, where I will wallow in agony for the rest of my days...

Not really, but do give it some effort in the future, bro. :2/5:

Underrail is 3743 times more real than either Wasteland 2 or Dead State. There's a colossal amount of engine work that's been done by this point. Not "future work", not "potential work", but here's someone who is actually doing it instead of talking about his "visions" and making "promises".

And yet this thread derailed into Vaporware1 vs. Vaporware2 debate - which is better and why?

:rage:
I do apologize, Styg. It's just Codex business as usual, just disregard this shit-flinging. We'll get tired eventually.

That's pretty rich coming from a little bitch that covers in fear and makes alts ever so often. What's the count at now? Four? Five?

LOLWUT

SO off the mark, homeboy. But keep the Walls of Butthurt coming :smug:

Where is the video, by the way? What, you expect people to read your nonsensical diatribe? It might at least be entertaining to see your butthurt face on a video :troll:
Back for more, honey? You really like it hard in the rear, don't you? I bet you would like to see more than a face, wouldn't you? I'll have to disappoint you, I don't do whales. Keep dreaming, and give that dildo a good workout.

I'd ask you for a video so we can all laugh, but I don't want to inconvenience the crane operators and satellite time is expensive.

Let me sum it for you, as Grunker would say, in conclusion:

I think this bit settles it

It’s been a while since Dead State was first announced. How far into development would you say you are? What still needs to be done?
We’re pre-alpha. What that means is that the design is laid out, some of the story, dialogue, art assets, GUI, items, tools, and programming have been completed, but there’s a lot to do. While Dead State was announced a while ago, it’s an indie project that has had limited funding and many of its staff worked on it in their free time. With Kickstarter funding, we’ll be able to make most or all of the team full-time and get Dead State finished a whole lot quicker. RPGs are huge games to build, and we have a fraction of the staff of a major studio like Bioware (in fact, their HR department is probably larger than our team.)

Very impressive looking game Styg! I would definitively donate if there was a kickstarter.

And is it just me who wants to see Dead State made in the Underrail engine instead of Torque?

Funny how there's so much butthurt over criticism of the zombie game, it's as if that pretty girl (the devs) looked in some spergy tard's direction once(post on the forum here now and then), and now anything other than overwhelming praise of her myriad qualities is treated as a personal attack against the tard, the girl, life, liberty, happiness, the university, and everything.

To sum up:
randumposter: Well I'm not completely convinced I would want to play it...
tard: YOU SHUT YOUR WHORE MOUTH IT IS DA BESTEST EVAR SAY IT BITCH SAY IT!

Back on topic, Underrail looks fantastic and I'll certainly be getting it when it's available.

Weapon mods?

You can add weapon enhancement while crafting new weapons, such as laser sights/scopes, extended magazines, etc. You can't modify existing weapons, though.

What about stealth? Any special equipment to aid with sneaking?

There will be items with bonus to stealth skill as well as some special items.

In JA2, when your mercs hear footsteps, there is a text message (you hear faint footsteps from NW) and a visual indicator in game screen about where the sound is coming from so even from behind walls, you can get a sense of lurking dangers. Is there anything similar to this?

There are multiple levels of awareness a PC/NPC can have of another creature:
Oblivious
Suspicious
Alert - PC: you see a shadow moving, but cannot directly target it until you move closer and detect it fully; NPC: some will go to your location and try to pull you out of stealth (this npc behavior is not implemented yet)
Aware - PC/NPC: you can see the creature and attack it

Check out this post in the workshop.
