When you enter the Iron Clan with both Magnus and Loghaire, one of the voice-overs from Loghaire starts "As did my own", but the text reads "My grandfather told me the same stories". I can see where the text is a bit clearer, but unfortunately it doesn't match so I think the voice-over version is preferable (and still clear enough).

Line 4 of 01919Loghaire_in_the_Iron_Clan.dlg (Arcanum3).
I already fixed that.

Somehow I broke the Bessie Toone Mine quest. Her son and Sarah both give me basic dialogue (they'll say something along the lines of "Hello, it's an honor to meet you" and I'm given no dialogue option but variations of "Good day"). There's also no one at Stanton Importers, so there was no way I could proceed. I think it might be because I attacked Bessie's ghost. I was just clicking along with fast turn-based combat on and accidentally hit her. She doesn't go hostile or anything, but it's the only weird thing I could think of that might have caused issues.

She's invincible and can't be attacked (she will just ignore your attacks).

Anyway, I had this bug report, from ninja_felix, I believe.
If you don't accept P. Toone's quest first time (I wandered down the why is your mother crying in the mine option - where is your sister path) all either of them say to you is Farewell or hello. There's no way to restore the mine since Stanton doesn't show up until Sarah tells you about him.
Still have to check it though.

I tried to reproduce the bug early on in a new game, but didn't get any results. I tried to screw it up the way ninja_felix described as well and it continued to work fine. I'll have to keep progressing in the game and going back every once in awhile to see if something weird affects it. Damn thing ruined my perfect ending!

Only Arcanum.exe and WorldEd.exe get overwritten.

To uninstall the UAP delete Arcanum5.dat, Arcanum6.dat, and also Arcanum.patch1 from "modules" folder, and then run CleanCache.bat again to update protos and maps cache. Then run the 1074 patch again to restore the executables.

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention for the Bagellion Scourge quest, you can actually free the Paladin slaves. You simply have to kill the Cursed Paladin before your turn ends (Disintegrate works wonderfully in this case). I'm sure you could also draw him out and take him out that way. If he dies and the slaves haven't reacted in his defense, they should be friendly. They have basic dialogue. It'd be cool to have them realize what happened and thank you (just a suggestion for the controversial patch).

That's the Basic Machined Platemail, not the Machined Platemail. It has worse stats and no ST bonus.

When you enter the Wheel Clan for the first time and the guards stop you, there's a typo in the line you can say:

I come with grave news...[Tell the guard the your story]

When you return to Gilbert Bates after you've been to the isle of despair and you mention that he hasn't paid you yet, he says:

Ah, the vagaries of the elderly mind ... pardon my forgetfulness, here is gold

when he's supposed to say, "here is the gold, even his voice actor says so.

EDIT: When you talk to Ryan Sanders the first time in the Sobbing Onion inn at Caladon and say that his father is enlightened now then he ends the conversation voicing his dislike of you, but when you talk to him again, he has two exact dialogue lines, the other ends the conversation while the other let's you have the original conversation all over again.

Found it!

There were two broken lines (with missing conditions) that let you tell Percival that you've spoken with the ghost BEFORE he gives you the quest, thus he never gives you the quest and the whole story arc is broken.

Yes, some conditions were clearly missing.

Thanks for reporting!

'lo

I'll carry my own two cents into the testing and the thing from the top of my head is:

I play a Charisma 20, Persuasion Expert Half-ogre, and I've been persuading the Molochean Hand to go away. When I tell them that I would succumb to my fate *but* I'm not who they're looking for, it skips a piece of dialogue they say and go straight to: "Off you go then, eh?" and say nothing else.

I'm not sure if this is working as intended, but it just seems strange.

Sorry about missing dialogue numbers and specific lines, but I wasn't really prepared to contribute. But now that I am, I'll be more thorough.

Hey Drog, does the character "Old Mother Tilly" actually exist ? You are told by the barman in the Boil that she lives to the west of the bar, and that she takes in lodgers if she likes them, but there is no one there, just an empty house with a lot of beds you can sleep in. I guess I hope that she was cut bu Troika for being too "off-colour", and that they didn't just forget about her...

Drog, would I have any problems applying to new patch to a existing game that started with patch 080502?

I'm not sure if these are considered as bugs, but...

1) In blackroot the store clerk may have an issue with his standing points or something. He seems to to be just standing in his bed, at least in the morning.

2) In Wilhelmina & Jared quest, shouldn't it Jared take Wilhelmina's note when you tell him what has happened to her? It would certainly make sense, since the way I see it the player's quest is to deliver the letter.

I teleported to Caladon at night and was walking out to get to the world map when I spotted a werewolf beating up a bunny, so I zapped it and it turned back into a human. I went inside the house and met David for the first time, and there were two dialog options (plus the exit dialog):

7 "I discovered what's been happening to your rabbits..."
13 "Hello David"

I was rather surprised to find that "Hello David" was the more controversial of the two lines, because David immediately attacked me saying "You killed my baby!" The first choice, on the other hand, allows me to complete the quest I never knew existed, and has me giving responses I shouldn't even know (like the fact that the dead girl is his daughter).

I'm not sure if this is a minor rework or a major one. Perhaps the existing dialog could be resused but with David filling in the blanks along the way. For example, we have the choice of saying:

"Yes, I killed the werewolf"
"Yes, I killed the werewolf and it turned into a young woman"

These parallel the choice to lie about the whole thing or reveal that his daughter was killed, just as in the current version. He will be the one who figures out that the young woman is Cynthia.

Alternatively, a simpler choice would be to force the player to accept the quest dialog as if the werewolf was never killed, and THEN open up the completion dialog. It's awkward but simpler, and it's certainly better than being attacked for saying "Hello David". ^^

EDIT: As an amusing sidenote:

Resurrecting her doesn't change anything (she should me marked unressable I assume?).

You can buff up the bunny and let him kill her. XD

Couple things while playing dice with the master gambling trainer. I saw you corrected a typo in the latest version so one of these may already be fixed.

When your first roll is 5, one of the dialogs is "A FIVE. Looks like you going to owe me." (line number 137). Aside from the grammar problem ("you're going"), the odds on a 5 are very bad to be so cocky, and in fact are the same as a 9. All other dialogs for 5 and 9 are pessimistic, so if this line is changed it should probably be a pessimistic one to be consistent.

When the mark is 5 and you win with a "THREE and a TWO", you shout out "A FOUR! Sorry to take your money again!" (line 152) It is still counted as a win, but you look like an idiot. ^^;

Am I correct that gambling apprentice is only taught by bar patrons? Generally once you talk to them, they do their random thing (ignore you, ask if you are the guy in the paper, play dice, quiz you, attack, etc) and then go into the usual pop-up text mode where you can't interact with them. I think it could be possible to have no way to train this skill if you've already talked to everyone once. It might be a good idea to have another way, either fixing bar patrons so they always have at least the training option (assuming they weren't hostile to you), or having the bartenders or someone else offer it for training.

I found myself hunting the bars to locate someone I didn't talk to already when I wanted to learn gambling late in the game.

I can't find any info online, but what is the condition to get master gambler? I'm up over 50,000 gold on the guy and he's still playing with me.

I see. These are actually two different quests. The first one is to find who's killing the rabbits and the second one is to cure Cynthia, his daughter. When you kill the werewolf the first one is set as finished (albeit with an alt outcome), and the second one is set as botched. I think, I'll edit the werewolf script so it wouldn't set the second quest if you didn't talk to his daughter before. I'll have to test these two quests more though.

You must win all his money. He has 5,000 originally but when you lose the sum adds up.

I ve been playing Arcanum for a week now and although it is great, I must say that I have found quite a few times where I didn't get enough dialog options. I will just mention the first quest I got about freeing Brehgo's spirit. I decided not to kill Arabalah and I returned the holy artifact to him. Then I wanted to talk about freeing Brehgo's spirit and I didn't get that option and the quest remains unsolved, because the devs probably wanted you to chose who to help. I think it is not a bug, but man do I wish to have more options what to say and ask. I swear there were quite a few more points where I just couldn't say what I wanted and there is many games that do this better. Now before you start bashing my ass, I know that there is no game out there that does this perfectly, but man this game is really asking for some more dialoge options. Since I am not expecting anyone to fix these things I was wondering does anyone here know of a site that would offer some good dialoge mods?

I want to say thanks for a great patch and also report a strange behavior regarding certain NPCs and the spell "Purity of Water". Some NPCs reset their Reaction value when you initiate conversation but the reset does notseem to take into account the increased Reaction value from the "Purity of Water" spell. For example, if I apply 2x "Purity of Water" before talking to J.M. Morat inside Grant's Tavern in Tarant I get an Reaction value of 143 from him. But when I talk to him it resets to 50. If I then leave the conversation and cancel the two Purity spells his Reaction drops to -43 and he immediately attacks. The same happens with Sammie White, also in Tarant.
