Now, it has been a while since I played the LoK games, but I'm fairly certain Kain got burned by the sun in the first Blood Omen game and as for Soul Reaver and all the other ones that followed after, I think it was mentioned that Kain had a giant smokestack that belched smoke into the sky to obscure the sun.

I'm actually surprised they haven't tried to secure rights to Troika's characters like Jeannette or Velvet, just so they could include them as cameos and uglify them. To teach toxic male gamers a lesson, you see. I bet they would be itching to make Tourette a 30s sideshow freak - a gender-bender. Therese would be the business suit wearing man and Jeannette the woman, sometimes present at the same time like during that quest in Bloodlines.

IIRC LOK vampires continue to evolve and grow stronger and after they’ve been around a while become immune to sunlight. Early Blood Omen Kain was weak to fire but by the later games was immune.
