Small tribute, but figured this was the best place for ti. Was on the Game Awards show, C&C was my first RTS and I spent a lot of time with that series (playing RA2 MP before exams in high school is still a favourite memory). RIP Westwood.

Grab the Codex by the pussy Codex USB, 2014 Steve gets a Kidney but I don't even get a tag.
Oh good, a five minute video of RTS queens talking about how turn based games are boring. Thank you so, so much.

Now, after watching it, those hipsters could feel like they know the origins of it all.

Hey, great company, but I'm not a big fan of the "without X, we wouldn't have Y" approach to tributes. E.g. "Without Westwood we wouldn't have LoL'. Like, eh, "without Newton we wouldn't have classical mechanics". Come on, someone else would probably invent something similar.

Yea, turn based strategy was bound to become real time at some point, but there are probably random design decisions that may not have been made. For all I know harvesting in Dune2 was the most influential thing Westwood brought.

Westwood was great, until EA got their filthy corporate paws on them.

I know the Codex has turn based games in high regard, but nothing will compare to the feeling of awesome I felt when I played games like Dune 2, C&C RA2 and the like for the first time.
Anyway fuck MOBAs though. Fuck Blizzard and fuck DOTA too.
