I finished Fata Morgana at last. The story is p. beautiful but the text is so bloated. I do not get why the author decided to explain a lot of things twice with tons of unnecessary details.

Late to the party, but while I agree the last chapter is definitely bloated, honestly compared to pretty much every visual novel ever it has very good pacing and writing.

Got to reading Utawarerumono 3 and I gotta say, I'm impressed. Part 2 dragged on a lot and some characters fell flat (still had a good time overall, though) but this time it really feels like a proper "stay up reading all night" incline. SRPG bits are p. decent, too. Best Vita VN/game so far me, for sure. A massive incline from Fate: Hollow Ataraxia that I've been trying to finish for many months now but just fall asleep, the MC is that boring.

When it gets translated (and I'm sure it will - part 2 should be done in 2017?), everyone should read it.

how does it compare to the first game?

I don't know enough to give a proper comparison, I'm just few hours into 3. SRPG parts (which are less than 5% of gameplay time, as usual) are definitely a massive incline in 2 and 3, barring the removal of +2 hero combos (I thought those added a lot of charm).

Story is sort of meh in 2 overall but gets better toward the end. It starts on a high note in 3 and got me hooked already.

^ ignored the guy above, holy shit spoilers thankfully I glanced over it before reading properly, also lol @ bad reviews https://www.amazon.co.jp/アクアプラス-うたわれるもの-二人の白皇-PS4/dp/B01DD28SNM

Always liked the chuuni genre which is not too common in VN. Probably gonna buy that, but may be in a month or so because summer sale is coming up

Fellow KKKers do post you impressions when/if you read it.

Btw Kasumi/Marie routes were written first before it was 're-made'. They're a complete story IMO but leave some stuff hanging, though they're also the best-paced. Kei's was alright (a lot of repetition, though...) but Rea (aka 'grand route' or w/e) felt more like a fan-disc, basically.

Or you could just read Kasumi's and pretend the story ended there, like Berserk ended with the Eclipse. :obviously:

Symphonic Rain devs worked on Schwarzschild games and Cosmic Soldier according to Mobygames. There must be some mistake.
Same company, different dev team. I think the people behind those games were "let go" a long time ago.

http://www.kogado.com/sw/contents/teammap.htm (notice how those games aren't sorted under a team)

It's mostly a skeleton company anyway because Japanese PC games that aren't porn don't sell

Root Letter, mystery visual novel/adventure from Kadokawa Games:

I don't think I heard particularly good things about this, but anyway this marks the Kadokawa's first Steam release. Hopefully SRPG God Wars: Future Past to follow.

So, replaying Dies Irae now that it has been translated.

Never realized how blatantly it steals from Fate/Stay Night.

Also, absolutely retarded that you force your players play through the worst girl first. Though it is fitting that she also gets the bad ending. 14 hours for common route and the worst girl. Geh.

Producer of MAGES (Steins Gate etc.) talks about future Steam releases: (Japanese) http://jp.automaton.am/articles/interviewsjp/20170628-49579/

- He would like to release 3~4 adventure games/VNs on Steam this year
- Bullet Soul Infinite Burst (shmup) is coming to Steam this Summer (which follows the release of Bullet Soul)
- A new and original game (probably an action game) will be announced next year. It also will coming to Steam following console releases

That was what I warned about years ago. When they would start to publish VN outside of Japan, all these fan translators would start to disappear, and quality would suffer. Also instead of being able to get free VN like we would went to public library and borrow book, we would get them for "money only". Previously companies didn't gave a shit about stuff sold outside Japan.

I don't think the scenario of "fan-translators only" is optimal either - how many years of their lives do you think people are gonna spend on something that doesn't earn them anything outside of online fame? Especially as they get older

We just need less shitty companies - but that's the Catch-22 because there's very little money to be earned here.

Yeah, I'm not sure that "let's pray for someone to pick that one VN that interests me" was ever a good thing, especially if you are into more niche stuff or weird ass genres.

About the game:
It is five years since the events of 1999’s “The Silver Case,” set in the new 25th Ward that arose in the bayside area of Kanto. In a room of the “Bayside Tower Land” apartment complex, a woman is found murdered under mysterious circumstances. This sets off a series of seemingly random events bridging across multiple protagonists including The Silver Case’s Tokio Morishima. With all viewpoints assembled, a truly shocking pattern emerges…

Available for the first time outside Japan, The 25th Ward: The Silver Case is presented with completely rebuilt HD assets and additional content not found in the original version.

Key Features:
A SUDA51 Trip - Set in the “Kill the Past” universe, the series continues its bleak look into a semi-futuristic world on the edge of collapse and the misfits and antiheroes that inhabit it.

Brave New World - The return of the signature “Film Window” system is brought to The 25th Ward for the first time! New visuals, sounds and controls capture the game in a fresh perspective.

One Story, Many Sides – Explore this dark take on Tokyo from three different perspectives, “Correctness,” “Placebo,” and “Matchmaker.”
