Too many nice looking 16 bit platformers to name them all. Shinobi III is a random shout.

Too lazy to post screenshots but when I played Metroid Prime in emulation a couple of years ago I was pretty amazed at how nice it looked. Of course the higher resolutions of the emulator helped but it had none of that hideous blockhead and spindly limbs look you see in many of these old 3D games. But then again there were very few humanoid let alone human creatures in the game so the blockhead effect likely had less chance to present itself

I recall the original Homeworld as looking remarkably well, which I guess was easy given the setting but damn, the Garden of Kadesh was beautiful and the superstructures in some level backgrounds amazed me. Can’t find screenshots from my phone as mostly the remaster comes up. Will edit later.

Same engine as dawn of war 1 if i am not mistaken.

this was such an innovative game
I dont think the graphics age particularly well but damn seeing this is an avalanche of nostalgia. This came out right when we started truly learning about computers then we shared self-burned cd-rw copies among classmates at school and nerd out about different animals combinations.

Yakuza 1/2 (PS2) were the first 3D game that completely blew my mind with its graphics.

the details they cram into this one on ps2 is amazing.

kingdom hearts is beautiful, even if the games itself doesnt age well but that's due to stylistic artstyle, but this particular moment blew my mind (the 1000 heartless battle)

and lastly, from the same era, God Of War 2

Couldn't find a better screenshot, it looks better in motion.
