Yes, I enjoyed the first Gaunt's Ghosts book and Horus Rising. I've heard bad things about Prospero Burns but have no first hand experience.

Unfortunately, Abnett is a shitty screenwriter.

The only other BL writer that turns out above average writing is Simon Spurrier (Xenology, Lord of the Night).

Oh and I forgot C.S. Goto; oh well it's widely known he's the best author. Check out his books.

Dan Abnett wrote the Eisenhorn Trilogy and Ravenor trilogy. I found both of those pretty entertaining. Personally I liked Eisenhorn beter than Ravenor, since ravenor does get a bit derpy with his PSYCHIC COSMIC POWAH at times. He also wrote gaunts ghosts. I got the first omnibus and it's good for what it is. I've heard they get worse as they go on though. I've been meaning to get some Horus rising books but haven't gotten around to it yet.

Oh, and steer clear of ciaphas cain and anything with eldar on the cover. The former is notoriously bad and the latter unfailingly faggy.

Not sure if this is legit, but:

After reading lots of threads about the Co-Op mode, I decided to join and tell you a bit of what I know.

After going to Games Day last Sunday, and playing a bit of the Co-Op mode there, I sort of got a bit of info from it. I asked a few of the people there a few questions and although I don't know whether it was valid infomation I will tell you anyway. (I asked the people who were the official Space Marine people, not just random people)

1) Will be public and not just private between friends (Don't kow if you already had that infomation)
2) From the vidio that was being shown alongside the Xbox's Tyranids will be involved
3) It was aimed to be released with in about 2 weeks, (Which is about a week now)

So yer, hope that helps a bit...

It's there. But good point.

Somebody actually replied to that point saying that Chaos in DOW2 was actually introduced when they implemented Last Stand. So perhaps there's precedent.

They could also simply do the marketing push after release.

unless some higherup at THQ got a hardon for 40k i dont think space marine will get much support or a sequel seeing the rather low sales - remember , THQ s new policy is to focus on AAA titles (like homefront ).

hopefully exterminatus is good fun on its own because after it i cant see THQ/relic supporting the game further....

...a shame really, they should have focused on the coop from the getgo (instead of the mediocre singleplayer + a good multiplayer dragged down by lack of content and technical problems)

THQ have a strong relationship with GW, I'm sure they won't want to let any title that carries the licence wither, it's worth an awful lot to them. Although it is a pretty funny that one of the GW 40k head honchos left to work on SC2, instead of DoW.

Yay, Exterminatus soon:

From Something Awful said:
"Hey bros, I'm in the first week of my first vacation in two years, so pardon the lack of posts.

30-day DLC is done, it's just being held up by PS3 cert. I was personally hoping we'd push the PC/X360 stuff live yesterday regardless, but that apparently got vetoed by higher-ups. "

"It has to do with the Matchmaking fix that we had to put in for PS3. Even though that was a small change, it still had to go through the full cert process so that delayed the submission date for our DLC. "

Be sure to type up some impressions once it's released. A good last stand mode would push me over the edge.

You can bet I'll be all over this when it's released.

Unless the girlfriend wants me to spend time with her … Shit, I forgot about her!

Because the player population will be nonexistent in 3 weeks.

Not to mention it was supposed to be in release, and then delayed for 30 days, and now delayed for ANOTHER three weeks.

I can't imagine the PS3 cert taking 3 weeks.

Also the Relic employee on SA said he was on vacation finally. Wait what?

I don't understand what is going on.

Who plays the multiplayer for this game anyway? I tried and I got to lv 5 but I didn't want to play past that. The lag was just too bad. And it didn't seem like there were many maps.

I play it. It's pretty good. You're right in that there aren't enough maps (5), and this co-op mode was the reason I was going to excuse Relic for the small map selection.

BUT NOT ANYMORE!

When did you try the multiplayer? If at launch - They have admittedly been diligent about patching the netcode and other bugs.

Kinda dropped the multi for a week, waiting for the co-op DLC, but I guess I'll start again soon. I'm close to 40 actually. :D Still, a release on the 25th means my girlfriend and I already planned to do stuff, so I won't have much time to play that. Ah well.

This thread is now about ponies.
