Maybe not the right thread, but Orks have been kinda losing a lot of their flavour:

Used to be a really thematic, and still in my mind the most traditional, quintessential and prestigious enemy of Mankind; not Chaos.

Also this guy does really cool scenery:

With the new edition in the wings there are going to be a few changes to the Space Marine lineup. Specifically, a lot of the old models (the Firstborn) are being culled and will be no longer produced. These include:

- The boxy Dreadnought and its Ironclad and Venerable variants
- Bikes, Scout Bikes and Assault Bikes
- All flavors of Land Speeder
- Scouts
- Assault Marines
- Vanguard Veterans
- Terminators
- The Company Command Squad
- Librarian
- The Techmarine with the Doc Ock look and the Thunderfire cannon
- The Hunter and Stalker, the Marines' premier anti-air

Both in-universe and IRL people feared that the Firstborn were going to get culled, forcing the move to the Primaris. Looks like that fear is coming true.

Gabriel Seth was 100% right about primaris.

These are all huge losses but scouts in particular represent the death knell of OG mehreens, without any more batches of those there won't be any more OG mehreens and more importantly it is the complete end of how marines used to train (scout->devastator->assault marine->tactical marine) in favor of the eldar aspect warrior like specialisation the primaris are really into.

RIP.

Close Tyranid victory. As a reward, there's the reveal for the new models:
Always felt 40k designers never really cared for 'nids. Their models always looked samey and uninspired to me, only the very first metal ones had some good models, in particular hormagaunts and the Tyrant and Carnifex which were downright scary. Now they all look like some bored teenager scribbling with spikes and more spikes and the same retarded grin.
Their Epic 40k monsters were also better designed.

I looked up some old nids. The only one I remember is the old Carnifex, and Space Hulk era Genestealers. If these are the models, I bet GW changed them to avoid comparisons/copyright to the Aliens franchise.

So they've split The End and the Death into three parts rather than just two. Well, guess i'm just glad they didn't end Solar War with the assault on the Vengeful Spirit and then launch another whole series about the battle on the ship.

Cover art is kinda meh too

Either Horus has grown bigger, or the Emprah has shrunk. Shouldn't he have a bitching cape, or has the cape turned into smoke ala Spawn?

Just hope they handle this well and don't subvert the final fight somehow.
Watch them do some dumb shit like Sanguinius being overtaken by the Red Rage and turning against the Emperor, who has to put his feathered ass down to protect himself. The last thing Sanguinius sees is Horus being absolutely disgusted by this cruel act, feeling sorry for his brother, and that's why the Angel's sons suffer their violent schizo episodes.

That or the Emperor wasn't all that hurt in the fight with Horus and he asks Ollanius Pius (who got up from being turned inside out by Horus) to wound him with the Anathema so that the vegetative Emperor can be seated on the Golden Throne, all according to keikaku.

Wait, what?
Really? I thought the Red Thirst was to remain a mystery, though personally I like to think it is either a deliberate design choice by the Emperor or a curse of Khorne, who has a huge boner for the Blood Angels and their successor Chapters.

Bro, you and Louis_Cypher can relax, this was me just spitballing ideas as to how they could make the final battle worse. This isn't what actually happened (hopefully).

I'm just worried because I know there is a non-zero chance that what you said will come to pass. Probably double digits in current year. It should be a moment of high tragedy, but might turn out to be subverted; Sanguinius sides with Horus at the last minute or something. There is also that Guardsman who sacrificed himself; Ollanius Pius, Patron Saint of Guardsmen.

Will be funny if the Big E trashes Horus only for Ollianus to shank him like he did in the past apparently. God damn Abnett and that Perpetual crap he added in (way back in 2007 or so, damn this series is long).

Man, I remember the time before the Horus Heresy books. Things were a lot simpler, there were the Index Astartes books and those detailed the basic outlines of the Legions, the rough order of events of the Heresy and that was that. Now there's dudes like Arkhan Land being an actual character, the Marines being named after a woman whose name was Astarte and the whole Heresy happening because some woman was horrified when she learned that the super soldier army commanders were going to command armies of super soldiers.

The irony is that Warhammer made a lot more sense back then than it does now, yes? Things were simple and straightforward. Now things seem to be all over the place.

GW has a track record of doing these things to its own fantasy lore in almost(?) every Black Library novel exploring such lore. Moments of great import are trivialised, while rando stoopid stuff is added. Prepare for the same here.

Yeah, furthermore it was less serious. It was still a miniature game at the time, it was all for fun.
