It would be interesting that the portraits of the companions change depending on the alignment. For example, a heretic playthrough should show companions getting tainted by chaos.
There's only one heretic companion, really. Everyone else either leaves your party or just refuses to comment on it at all since the writers couldn't figure out a way to continue the story without them. There's no "tainting" anyone.

Kibellah has a pretty decent heretic direction, so I dont know why they couldn't have weaved the heretical direction alongside the other dogmatic characters, or at the very least have people like Argenta leave the ship way earlier, instead of awkwardly waiting around until the end of act 4

Lore-wise heretical path should take about the same amount of content entire base game have. Because you perate in a Imperium-loyal region, with imperium-loyal surrounding and it would be another game to subtly corrupt planets and your retainers to Chaos. Declaring that you now worship Chaos is a bioweare-lever writing and it'll be rebellions all around. Imperium may be stagnant but it is a pro with dealing with Chaos and situations like Krieg will be massive, given how in a quest with Chaos computer there were dozens of volunteers to scream hyms to the emperor even knwoing this machinу is draining their life just to spite demons.

That's why I would rather see a Mass Effect approach here where you will save the galaxy but you may do in being a do-gooder or a ruthless pragmatist.
Best way and axample would be Inquisition game where you WILL achieve your goal but may choose factions with vastly different philosophies - Xanthites or puritans etc.
