Codex Year of the Donut
The vast majority of codexers, like everywhere else, just parrot what the oldfags say for clout. I prefer arpgs and immersive sims, I don't need to pretend to love something that puts me to sleep.

Considering Underrail won Codex RPG of the year not so long ago I disagree. That game is as 90s as they come.

Gosenberg, our beautiful capital, is a marvelous place, filled with beautiful architecture, the smartest and richest minds in all of the land and host to the most gifted of artists and performers.

This historic city operates today as a central merchants hub, providing opportunities not only to the rich and powerful, but anyone who is savvy enough to dabble in the trades. Beneath the surface however, it seems there is a much more sinister side to this seemingly idyllic city, one that has spent years waiting to be uncovered...

Gosenberg is yours to explore in Wartales this September!

Nice game, been playing it for some time. It's actually worth the money i wasted on it and gives me nice unhealthy dose of sandbox autism with tactical combat. The devs are working hard on it.

But i REALLY hope they will add some fucking helmets ffs. Or even better: mod support.

Attention mercenaries,

We are committed to providing polished, fully realised, high quality content with all of our updates, and unfortunately at this time, Gosenberg does not meet the standard that we strive to achieve, so we have taken the difficult decision to delay its release from the initially stated timeframe shared in our last roadmap.

While not ideal, this is expected to be a very small delay, resulting from some unforeseen issues that came to light during the final stages of QA testing. As soon as these issues have been resolved and we are satisfied with the state of the update (which we plan to be in October) the Gosenberg update will be released to you all as planned.

Furthermore, with the announced co-op mode being heavily dependent on a lot of systems and features introduced with the Gosenberg update, it will also see a small delay, likely shifting towards the later months of the year.

We apologise for the inconvenience here and understand that this may cause some frustrations, but with our content we need to make sure not only that our expectations are met, but most importantly, yours are exceeded.

For now, we have updated our roadmap to reflect the change in plans, which you can see below:

Thank you all for your understanding.

I've been playing this and it's actually not bad.

The combat system is definitely inferior to BB's but it's serviceable, but I feel there's more variation in the missions, even though the writing in some of them are worse than in BB.

The mini-games are stupid though.

Hopefuly by the time I finish all the content currently available they'll have already released the new update.

Major Update #2 | The Great Gosenberg
We are very proud to present the second major content update for Wartales: The Great Gosenberg!
With this update, the gates to the Kingdom of Gosenberg have opened, giving you the opportunity to discover its capital, as well as new content for you to unlock, explore, complete and collect...

The City of Gosenberg, located in the verdant province of Grinmeer, is a beacon of hope, culture and art. It is said that any man, woman or child that sets their eyes upon the capital are left overwhelmed by its splendour.

Unfortunately, it seems entirely possible that your mercenaries may find themselves too busy to enjoy its many pleasures…

A despicable crime has taken place in the heart of the Upper City: the murder of Broker Wylla Ald Hoevendorp, (an ex) member of the Brokers’ Council, rulers of the Kingdom of Gosenberg.
Any and all mercenary companies located within the province are “invited” to aid in the investigation, where they will have to interrogate the townsfolk, convince witnesses to share their tales, and take part in local customs in order to blend in and unmask the culprit.

Well, that was fast.

Hopefully it won't be like Stoneshard's golden city where they released a big ass city with very little content in it.

Guys when I enter the prison tower and click any NPC then all buttons disappear and nothing works not even ESC but the game is not stuck, I can press W to show paths... Cant exit the tower, I have to ALT F4 to get out of the game.
Any advice? Otherwise the game looks great.

Still not sure about this game saw that the mercs have no helmets and the excuse is that the dev have no resources for helmets? So that means the game has no body part damage its flat armor stat block ? Will wait to leave EA.

How is the game tone? Gory or light violence?

I have played it for some hours. It is a fun game and has real lots of potential. I decided to hold off for the final release next year for the reason that this is not really a sandbox game... map is pre generated and so are the vast majority of quests, with all unique(albeit quite generic) characters and missions. Only randomized quests seem to be some bounty hunts.

So really I think it is worthwhile to wait for the full release because replay value won't be so great as say battle brothers.

Game is quite playable and quite fun. Lots of things feel unfinished. i.e: classes you can capture and recruit mostly have no skill trees and most characters looking the same because of few models for faces and armor in game. There are only 6 base classes and while there is quite a lot of build variety the game could use a few more.

I really liked the systems for crafting, learning recipes and camping. "Grindy" but real fun. Mini games are quite annoying even though I like the Idea of "professions" associated with them.

Seems to me the developers might have a problem with focus and wasting resources and time. The mini games being a good example of this. Right now they are working on a coop update which ia frankly BS. Could be finishing the game by now or improving its base features.

The unique scenes are nice but their display interactible feature needs some work... it ends up being a pixel hunt for chests and the like.

Writing and quests very generic, first region and main quest being about a province being overrun by rapefugees from war.

I do like that you can side with the locals and exterminate the rapefugee plague. I also like that you are not pushed to feel evil about it Good stuff.
