Strap Yourselves In Serpent in the Staglands Shadorwun: Hong Kong Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire Steve gets a Kidney but I don't even get a tag. Pathfinder: Wrath I'm very into cock and ball torture I helped put crap in Monomyth
can i see some not hobo-tier armors?

I like brotherhood armor(which is Landsknecht esque). Alazarian armor added in the last update also looks cool:

Pretty sure the game launched with a memory leak or some other major optimisation issue
I keep stutters that get gradually worse the longer I leave the game running

I also get some stutters and while they are irritating they are not terrible as they only happen once ever few minutes.

What's the Codex Consensus(tm)? Is it very shit or is it only partially shit (and maybe worth trying)? I love Legless Brothers.
It's decent. It's not BB, but BB is a masterpiece, hard to compete with that. It lacks replayability, but if you like tacticools, it should offer at least 40+ hours of fun before you get bored.

What's that term again where the first game that spawns a bunch of clones also tends to be the best?

I played Wartales briefly during the EA period and remember it being competently made, if somewhat cookie cutter. The graphics are nice, although the combat system felt more "video gamey" to me than BB, which was more simulation/realistic.

That might have changed though. I'll redownload Wartales to see how 1.0 is.

It is a fun game that will take many hours of your time.

It is far from being the hardcore fun that battle bros is though. I would call it "the second best merc company rpg ever".

The camping system is probably the best I have ever played. Very entertaining to build camp gear and turn what was once just a ground fire and a table into a booming and cozy mobile craftshop.

Since I have not played BB I can only compare this with first Expedition game. It has more interesting combat, character building and camping system but less interesting world exploration and events that come from that.

Stop whatever you are doing / playing and play BB instead. Thank me later

i remember liking battle brothers initially and then grinding was creeping in to annoy my perfect experience. Does wartales suffer from such?

A lot more. You will be doing minigames to level professions and grinding knowledge levels to unlock perks and schematas. That besides all the fighting, exploring and resource gathering.

You do get rewarded for it though, very gamey grinding and you might not get annoyed as you will constatly be unlocking new and useful stuff.

The game is a bit too gamey. The comparison with battle bros reminds me of graveyard keeper vs stardew valley. Graveyard keeper you have lists and lists materials quests you have to grind and it feels like you get nowhere. Stardew is the same deal but the process is more natural and you feel like you are progressing rather then being given a new work order.

Wartales if you hire random dudes you fucked up come boss time when you need one dude with heavy armor and high guard and others with dots. You sit there dumbstuck as your randoms get one shotted despite your tacticool lineup doing good against a bandit camp awhile ago. Battle bros this scenario is like fighting a orc warrior with starters and hires. All you have to do is get hammers and mauls. Basically when sandboxes feel gamey and restrictive rather then natural the immersion and the whole point of it being a sandbox is diminished.

What boss do you mean, I'm not running any shields and heavy armors and never had problems. If you mean the boss in first region, he can be beaten with lvl 1 dogshit whatever party, it's just a matter of figuring out how his gimmick works.

Heard a lot of contradictory things about the combat -- what's the closest parallel? Something akin to modern Xcom, or more D&D-like such as Wildermyth? Or another thing entirely?

sure u could beat him easily at level 1 or later overpower him but if you are in the cuck stage oops i sold my level 1 dagger that can put a poison stack on him only have bleed better go back to town or fuk off elsewhere for now. its tedious and gamey all I'm saying. Battle bros your not fucked cuz u traded ur pick axe for a two handed hammer.

You are not fucked here as well since he never attacks you, if you choose to attack him with bad team and bad gear that is your terrible choice

Expeditions: Conquistador where all weapons have their unique kind of attack in addition to classes for your soldiers that also have one unique attack.

Skills are too gamey. The positive is they don't pretend everyone can use expertly any weapon.

You don't need any poison, in fact DOTs are not great against bosses since they get reduced damage and only get affected once per turn.

This specific boss can be beaten with anything, after you just look at what his skills do - he either uses an ability that targets closest person, or he uses an ability which starts channeling his attack on the previously targeted person, which will hit when he next acts.

The whole gimmick, is just that you need to plan your positioning, have you guys set up in a line, spread enough so boss can never target more than one person with his AoE, and only move the person at whom the boss is channeling his attack. Hit the boss, then run, to get out of his aoe and start setting up a new line. It can be done with whatever weapon, as long as you use your brain with positioning/order of movement, you can never take any damage in this boss fight.
