Looks awesome all around!

(and stop complaining about the keyword dialogue, it's fine; leave dialogue trees for T:ToN)

Yeah keywords are fine and good, but it would be nice if they were presented a little less abstractly as it doesn't quite fit as it is. To be honest all they really need to do is remove the player's "response" text from the dialogue window and just have the characters talking..

You could in theory fluff out the keywords to complete sentences but it would be exactly that: fluff. Probably better the devs don't waste their time.

Now I should really go and do something else rather than repeatedly watching this like a complete knob, FFS

Damn after good news about Shadowrun this excellent video too.
Kickstarter the bringer of incline ? I was quite skeptic myself, not daring to hope too much...
But i like everything, including dialogue keywords system which while not as sexy as tree system is way more gamey and interesting. It will be a huge + in the end gameplay wise.
I really hope those games are going to sell well, would be shame otherwise.

So we can have even better and bigger budget sequels... :incline:

But somehow I doubt it. Who but the oldfags will buy games like this? :(

I was there, at the dawn of the Third Age of the Incline.
It began in the year 2012 with the crowdfunding of Wasteland 2.
It was a promise of a game which would satisfy storyfags and combatsfags alike, a game that would harken back to the good old days.
It could be a dangerous prospect, but we accepted the risk because Wasteland 2 was our last, best hope for Incline.
Under the leadership of Brian Fargo, Wasteland 2 was a dream given form, a dream of an RPG without romances, featuring turn-based combat and chock full of choices & consequences.
Wasteland 2 was the harbinger of the impending Incline.

This is its story.

MAJOR SUPER MOTHER FUCKING INCLINE DETECTED!! The game looks awesome!! :D

It looks damn good even in this unfinished alpha state. What it still really needs is AA (Antialiasing), the jaggies are a bit annoying. The UI is also a bit ugly and klunky looking and needs a minor workover IMO, but I love the basic Style and functionality. :)
The music is of course absolutely awesome.

Seeing that video made me remember how good games used to be. It must have been a cruel djinn indeed who cursed us with the previous decade of decline.

I wonder how the mainstream gaming press will review WL2? Will they lambast it for lack of "accessibility" or will they latch on to it for it's hipster appeal? Or will they even genuinely like it and realize how shit most mainstream games are.

I was under the impression that the game would feature a dialogue system similar to first Fallout (dialogue trees, but with the addition of a keyword system), so I'm slightly disappointed on that front. And I must say I don't care much for the movable camera (but I guess it's a non-issue really, I don't have to use it). Other than that, the game looks amazing - I especially loved the atmospheric text narration and object descriptions. Character models look very impressive (wasn't expecting that at such an early stage) and combat looks great for an alpha stage.

Can't wait. Kickstarter really will incline the whole genre.

They will criticize bad voice acting, un-immersive dialogue, lack of romance options, and say it's a relic of the past. :kingcomrade:

Looks good. Fucking great, actually. The dialogue system seems a bit iffy yeah, but I love systems with type-in keywords (just as long they're actually used in the game).

I felt the same way. It makes me really mad. Just think, we could have been playing games like this for the past ten years. :x

They will criticize bad voice acting

I know that will probably be true, but I just watched the intro so far and that had better voice acting than anything Bethesda ever did and they always get praised for voice acting. Guess that's what it means to be a big name hiring other big names.

I'm totally disappointed most'a ya'll are being uncritical cocksuckers

I'll go ahead and admit that i'd have another criticism : enemy FOV seems very narrow...
But apart from that it was a proper cumfest.

But that's all that comes to mind.
As I said in the other thread, I'm assuming that's because this is literally the first area of the game and enemies have low perception stats. Kind of like how all newer stealth games always start off with the first enemy's back turned to you.

No "JA2" climbing on buildings? And no crouching and crawling...

But... finally Desert Rangers went properly equiped - no more knifes and pistols :D .
Music is fine, dialogues... hmm... I hoped for something more falloutish. Descriptions are cool and similar to those from WL1.

Rocks don't seem to stop bullets. :decline:

But that might just be because of the abstracted cover system.

I had the same impression and also feel the same way. I am a bit disappointed.

If there are no dialogue trees then I would at least expect some decent text when you click a keyword, kind of like in Mass Effect. So instead of just saying "Killer Tomatoes" :retarded: your rangers would say something like "Tell us about the Killer Tomatoes that are causing havok."

Keyword-based dialogue system = awesome, fuck dialogue trees
Typing in keywords = even more awesome
:yeah:

Ugly brown and green = eww, I would expect a sequel to Wasteland to be at least a bit more colorful. But whatever, I can live with that.

Overall, great stuff, money well spent, etc.

I absolutely disagree.
Can't some of you not see the advantage of such system FFS ?
Not being limited by no brainer see all dialogue tree ?
Moreover it allows NPC to provide much more info, and the joy to discover new things to ask as we go further in the game.
It looks less sexy than dialogur tree with badass answers but it"s a huge incline.
