I absolutely disagree.
Can't some of you the advantage of such system FFS ?
Not being limited by no brainer see all dialogue tree ?
Moreover it allows NPC to provide much more info, and the joy to discover new things to ask as we go further in the game.
It looks less sexy than dialogur tree with badass answers but it"s a huge incline.
Yeah, this major incline was invented by BioWare. It's just like in Mass Effect... But with less text. :)

They should at least put some text in your responses if they are not going to use a dialogue tree.

Looks pretty cool so far.
I agree that the text responses could be improved a bit - showing whole sentences after picking the keyword.

Really looking forward to the circle jerk!

Codex doesn't disappoint!

What was the point of the boring radio chatter at the beginning? As expected, non-orthographic camera gives a headache and you have to fight with the camera all the damn time. Combat looks unresponsive and boring, but I'm giving the benefit of doubt since there are no meaty animations yet and it's relatively early game footage. Silly visual effects like those bulletholes at start of the fight. Bullet traces look silly, everything looks, as expected, cartoony, except the indoor areas, they look ok. I don't like the keyword dialogue system, but that's a matter of taste. I really like the soundeffects, they sound good. Liked that "endboss" thingy at the end of the video too.

All in all not as bad as I expected.

Nah, if it's a keyword system they'll be using then no need to try and hide it with fluff. Rather make full use of it by adding lots of keywords and reactivity.

My only major gripe so far is the bullets hitting your screen to tell you that

"COMBAT IS STARTING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11111111111111111111111111111111111111111"

Maybe make your GUI flash red like an alarm or something. It would be less jarring IMO.

Besides, the Fantasy genre has been done to death while post-apocalyptic RPGs are a minority in comparison.
But not in the context of tactical turn-based combat in a recent game.

I would love an "x-com with dwarves, elves and trolls and shit". Technology would be replaced by alchemy and inventions. Bows -> Crossbows, for instance. Oh man oh man.

Frankly, no RPGs have been done in a tactical turn-based combat system recently.

Parties always seem to work best in a x-com like turn-based combat system. After seeing developers try and do parties in real time, you can't trust them to make them work. Turn-based is the only way to go.

The combat looked derp although not as atrocious as XCom. Mostly due to silly level design from which Fallout Tactics suffered. Quite a linear map with pre-placed cover (except this time its stupid XCom derp where you can't even crouch without cover, which is also facing enemies for some reason) leading to the quest location. Enemy view cones are extremely narrow.

At least stat checks are in instead of Codex's favorite minigames and the dialogues seem ok without the annoying tons of pretentious writing like in the so called "RPGs" of today.

Overall it's nothing impressive and if the level design and combat won't be made more freeform and complex it will be just another mediocre project without any replay (or even play for that matter) value. It doesn't look much better than "The Fall" tbh.
