A Beautifully Desolate Campaign Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire Pathfinder: Kingmaker Steve gets a Kidney but I don't even get a tag.

Probably the last game I'll buy for a few years' time, and definitely the last one I'll buy for a full price, ever.

(Unless some based studio releases a RuneQuest crpg)

Yeah, I'm well impressed they had the balls to stay 2D.

Some of the recommendations in this thread are really making me realize just how much the AAA-normie market is killing games. Stuff like Free Stars: Children of Infinity and Exekiller look right up my street, but such games don't get anywhere near enough the exposure it deserves.
True, there are a lot of overlooked gems in the market that don't get the credit they deserve (e.g., Neon White). Streamers and journos are worse than useless in that regard. Maybe I should make a dedicated thread for game recommendations.

Core Decay has been on my radar for years. Sadly, I think it's very unlikely that it will release this year. Currently, it seems to be mainly vapourware.

What 2025 game(s) are you looking forward to?

Not a lot, all the games I was looking forward to turned out to be disappointments

Urban Strife
Path of Exile 2
Stalker 2

Oh, yeah, only that Maphaldo Grimoire-looking thing I guess
EDIT: and any new version of Hearkenwold

Some wishes:
  • Monomyth
  • Warhammer 40,000: Mechanicus II
  • Hibernaculum
  • Vampire Syndicate: Gangs of MoonFall
  • Echoes of the Living
  • Compound Fracture
  • Doom: The Dark Ages
  • Tempest Rising
  • Stellar Blade
Just the usual, indies, science fiction, plus Warhammer 40,000 and Doom. I'm not super exicited for any games anymore, but I've been following stuff like Monomyth for a long time. There is plenty of older stuff to play or re-play.

For those unfamiliar with some titles:

Monomyth is a first-person RPG inspired by atmospheric games like King's Field, it looks like potential Codex GOTY material.

Hibernaculum is a dungeon crawler with a biomechanical science fiction setting, looks ace in terms of art design.

Vampire Syndicate is a tactical RPG with futuristic latex vampire porn, which will appeal to gentlemen of taste.

Tempest Rising is an attempt to recreate the days when Command & Conquer was the leading narrative in gaming.

Echoes of the Living and Compound Fracture attempt to return to the gameplay or aesthetics of PS1 survival horror.

Nothing, honestly. The last game I was looking forward to was Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 and I did not end up buying that thanks to the timely leaks forewarning people of Vavra's grift.

Hibernaculum looks like style without substance
Maybe. Contrast to most games now that are "no style" and "no substance" either. I'll take some style at least. Might be refreshing.

Nothing mainstream looks nice any more. If the establishment wants me to play their drab propaganda, a boring game in yet another faux medieval setting with modern sensibilities lets say, they can put latex bodysuits and sexy mommas in, since it's gonna be ahistorical bullshit anyway. It's gonna be about as realistic as a DEI insert sub-Sarahan African in medieval Bohemia. So bring back Devil May Cry / God of War / Ninja Gaiden tier 2000s over-the-top art, tits and ass, with improbable outfits, ancient Bohemian power sword katanas, and sexy bitches.

The only game on this list that has any chance whatsoever of coming out in 2025 is Swordhaven. And even then I'd wait, since the devs continued to add shit to ATOM RPG for over a year after "release," and it was worth the extra wait.

Labyrinth of Touhou Tri. Expecting it to be the best dungeon crawler since LoT2, which was the best crawler since LoT. Honestly it's embarassing how badly everyone else in the genre is shitting the bed.

Browsing my wishlist, seems everything else is either vapourware or in one of those gradual transitions out of early access that doesn't provide any hype. Maybe monhun would be nice, but crapcom has burnt any good will I had towards it long ago.
Lands of Achra.
Okay that would actually be cool.
Is that actually going to be out in 2025? Might be a contender in that case. Fingers crossed it's not a broken mess like Grimoire was.

Rather than being a cunt I'm going through my wishlist and trying to see if there's anything - anything at all - that I truly believe is going to come out this year and it doesn't look good. The Necromancer's Tale I'll give a solid "maybe," likewise Tainted Grail. Beyond that... 90+ games and not a chance in hell for any of the remainders.
