what was the name of that total conversion mod for FNV that had something to do with Autumn in the title and more importantly than that: is it worth playing?
i'm re-installing FNV right now and I wanted to check up on the status of those Total Conversion-type mods for my replay; I'm not asking for advice about other types of mods to install as I have my own list of tweaks for the base game I always utilize (most of which I made myself) and I don't consider FNV to be a game that needs any mods to make it good, however I've never bothered with any that entirely new areas or were a TC.
there was also one that was talked about recently that is another TC type mod except this one is currently being translated into english still? I might be confusing it with one for Fallout 1/2 though.
EDIT: in case anyone is wondering the only modifications/tweaks I utilize when playing FNV are:
- 50% slower backpedal/backwards walking speed, so as to not have every encounter devolve into walk-back-while-shooting
- 2x DMG done when hitting limbs, and when legs are crippled 2x slower walking speed than default cripple-speed (which is barely slower than with healthy legs)
- 25% penalty to accuracy when targeting the "HEAD" in VATS so as to not have combat always revolve around head shots so early in the game
that's it really. I already went thru the "mod craze" and did a playthrough with dozens of mods, after doing my vanilla playthrough, and then realized when I began modding the game myself (mostly by simply altering existing mods to suit my tastes) that the game doesn't really need anything major at all to be enjoyable.
one "mod" I whipped up myself that I'm proud to say
no one else has ever done for FNV was to make Deathclaw limbs and Eggs cost thousands of dollars, with Deathclaw Eggs selling for 5k.
Why? Because in the default FNV Deathclaws' only purpose is to act as gatekeepers, but by making their hands/Eggs basically the equivalent of Gold Bars and thus profitable for selling instantly the player now has a reason to actually go out and hunt down Deathclaws besides merely for shits and giggles; since the player will never be able to actually hunt them down until mid-game and beyond this serves to make it so that Deathclaw hunting is a viable way of making profit for a player who wants to roleplay simply as a kill-everything type of char, and this way you don't even have to bother with doing quests for money later on if it's what you want.
It really surprised me that no one ever thought of doing this one simply change to the game's "economy". It's up somewhere in the bowels of the Nexus if anyone wants it. Alternatively this is an extremely simple change that requires 5 minutes or less' worth of editing the corresponding items in the GECK.
I've always been of the mindset that instead of changing entire inventories' worth of prices it's better to simply look for something that is "organic", something in the game world that while not necessarily a mistake by the devs could definitely be head-cannoned into fitting well enough within the game world that it serves the purpose of (in this case specifically) providing an alternative boost to profiteering for the player without having to change anything else.
And there's a quest for getting the Eggs if I remember correctly but the only reward was the callback to FO2 egg dish and this is when I thought about this simple tweak.
