Project: Eternity Wasteland 2 Shadorwun: Hong Kong Divinity: Original Sin 2 Steve gets a Kidney but I don't even get a tag. Pathfinder: Wrath
I got really bored and installed Senran Kagura: Peach Beach Splash
I tried playing it with a gamepad and it didn't feel right aiming with the stick. I switched to mouse and I performed way better, did not help that team AI is rather brain dead.
Also, the dressing room and intimacy feature is a decent idea. You can customize your girls' outfits and make her pose on a diorama.

Completed Opposing Force.

I played it back in the days, but didn't remember much of it, so it was kind of a fresh experience.
But for some reason I didn't enjoy it as much as enjoyed replaying Half-Life a year or so ago. The locations felt too disconnected, and while it had some terrific firefights they were too few and there was too many jumping and physics puzzles (I liked the ones involving the Barnacle Gun, though). Also very short.

Continuing my ace combat retrospective with the psp game, ace combat joint assault.
Fuck this piece of shit game.

-EMULATION
Set i/o timing in ppsppp to host to avoid cut scene problems.

-STORY

The world setting moves from fantasy to the real world setting, for no reason whatsoever.
The plot is shit.It is a mess of evil commie terrorist financed by evil capitalist bankers. It does not have any spec of of reality like tom clancy stuff or utter insanity of metal gear,it is just a boring mess.
The voice acting is beyond terrible. The are trying so hard to mimic some nationalities and they fail hard.It is not even funny,it is just pathetic.
The writing is horrible as well.Your main squad at the begging just changes sides for shit and giggles under some pathetic excuse of more fighting, which they would do anyway. The enemies constantly try to mock you childishly while spewing garbage all the time.
You don't have any wing men, thankfully, cause they would fuck that up as well.

-Quality of the mission briefing screen

They copied everything from ace combat x,the lazy bastards.

-Mission variety and gameplay

Bad,terrible,horrible.

The game has 20 missions. The dynamic campaign is completely gone and you follow a linear patch with maybe 1/2 alternative missions you can choose.Just why, they had i right in x,why change?

Mission variety is the worst in the series.Ever single mission is variation of shoot some small amount of ground/air targets.-Most missions have multiple phases of the same thing. They teleport you to your next mission area, which feels out of place. You will shoot a couple of planes/ground targets and then a couple of new ones will apear, rinse and repeat until he end.So the non gimmicky missions are just boring.

But the gimmick missions are a whole new story of bad. This game has a hard on for escort missions, how fun.The other gimmick missions include:
-Flying a Boeing airplanes through a a valley and dodging mines, yes mines. It is just terrible.
-Following a couple of slow choppers for half of the mission and then following a slow boat waiting for the game to give you the ok to attack targets even though you can see them.
-Dodging a very obnoxious rail gun who reloads every couple of seconds.
-Doing a tunnel mission with your camera obstructing 1/3 of the screen
-fighting the same boss at least 10 times

All of this is made worse by the facts that the ability to target something is tied to the mission narration and even the targets you destroyed come back as the new objective.I can't tell you how fun is to destroy the same boss engine 4 times.

The game also ha s a big focus on coop. Some mission are exclusive to co op,just why?
Also the game now takes money away from you for aircraft repair and rearmament, you know,to make it even less fun. The numbers are not big,so this is just obnoxious, like most of the game.
Enemy aces are back but secret parts are out, again why?

Medals have received no change. At least they didn't fuck that up.

-Planes
It is the typical ace combat plane selection without any creativity whatsoever.Gone are the experimental variants from x.
Also planes take way too much money to buy,it is obnoxious.

Customization wise, the game retains of all x options with a couple of additions, luckily.
You can now select three primary missiles as well as 3 secondary weapons. This is actually the only good thing about this game.
The parts customization has been changed so you can apply all customization to all aircraft, which is not very well thought out or balanced but i like it.

--Difficulty
The entire difficulty and lack of difficulty stems from the new stupid game controls and physics.Your airplane feels like it is moving in water instead of air and everything feels sluggish.
The ai ha snot been programmed to handle this and poses no threat. The enemy ai will usually try to outmaneuver missiles or you but thanks to the new physics they will just be sitting ducks.
This doesn't apply to enemy bosses which break the law of psychics and cheat like crazy to accomplish any sense of difficulty.
Missiles in this game are insane. They do crazy acrobatics and can reach almost all angles. This is not a good change.
One of the easiest but also annoying ace combat games.

-Unique stuff and extra content
Same thing as x.
The only extra stuff are the coop stuff, which i couldn't try.

-Overall verdict
Worst ace combat game so far. It is a pain to play and what is there to play is just tedious.

Yeah, the only thing I liked more than in HL1 was, that you sometimes had a whole military team going along with you. That I found more realistic and more fun. All these guys helping you to shoot aliens. It's kinda like Blobbers: saving the world is more realistic with a team than alone. Though I wished this military team in OF would have stayed with you more often.
Some people are actually working on an Opposing Force remake https://www.moddb.com/mods/operation-black-mesa but it will probably take a while until it's finished.

I played it back in the days, but didn't remember much of it, so it was kind of a fresh experience.

I can relate to that. When I dig out a game from before year 2000, it's almost like playing a new game. Not totally new, but similar. And because you've gotten older the game often feels different than back then.

Finished Haunting Ground. Submitted a review to GameFaqs, waiting for approval. TL;DR of my review: play it only if you want to see the hot blonde's boob physics.

Now that I've finished Overload: Eodem Sequitur I'm happy to report that it does get better after the first "level", and I did finish it on Insane. But overall it's a disappointing package.
Let me break it down like this. The first level is just a cheap challenge-mode-like arena but without the features that make Challenge Mode fun. Half of the remaining 8 levels look outright amateurish and are also tiny compared to what Cronos Frontier has to offer. The other half is exactly what I expected from this DLC. Large complexes with interesting geometry, lots of interconnected shit and secrets. Good stuff. A bit too many dark and claustrophobic areas for my taste.

10700647989925380096_1gksb.jpg

Yes, this is the first level in its entire glory.

10700647989925380096_kokdz.jpg

Still a bit small?

10700647989925380096_qckzw.jpg

Map designer forgot this is a 6dof shooter. Also, rectangular room next to rectangular room. The original campaign never does this.

10700647989925380096_48khr.jpg

This is more like it.

10700647989925380096_0ukls.jpg

Some backtracking and shortcuts included.

10700647989925380096_2dj39.jpg

And the final level.

10700647989925380096_yajkm.jpg

First level.

10700647989925380096_vyk32.jpg

It's hard to get everything on the screen.

10700647989925380096_ybjba.jpg

And the memorable Tethys Lab.
This is just about the campaign. There are also new maps for Challenge Mode, but I'm not interested in those.

After checking out a few JRPGs in Hirato's steam library I come up with 2 things I really hate in JRPG:
1. Unskippable Animated Intro: Why man, just why?
2. No Auto-Forward for Dialogues: Why do I have to keep tapping X for the next line?

Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky is guilty of both.
Total played time: 10 minutes.
Bullshit. I was just watching intro and tapping X.

Plenty of JRPGs let you do that. Maybe I'm playing different ones to Hirato's collection.

Oh, that one. From what I understand the game doesn't really get interesting until after the prologue...unfortunately the pacing is terrible. There is a turbo option but it's only 2x (4x for combat encounters).

I second The Books of the Dragon. At the second village and like what I am seeing so far. Quests require exploration and investigation. There is a good deal of customization with move sets and stances. Crafting is necessary if you want to get effective gear, the regular stock at the blacksmith is shit. Its possible to get cornered and your face wrecked by a boss if you are not careful in your exploration.

Technical jank aside, its better than alot of modern AAA RPGs.

Not continuing the ace combat series perspective because the 3ds game assault horizon legacy lags severely.

For anybody interested, it is not a 3ds version of ace combat assault horizon but a remake of ace combat 2.It is mostly the same game with modern controls and secondary weapons.
Unfortunately some things are not as good. Some missions have been streamlined and the aces seem to appear at specif spots instead of flying around the map.
The controls are also not very good compared to even the original psx game. The lack of a second analogue an r2/l2 buttons is a pain.

Personally, there was no reason for this "remake",the original holds up surprisingly well.

Off to ace combat ww2 animu for my next game.

Edit:Forgot to mention the maneuver system.Basically there is a gauge for attack and defense and once it is full you can activate it to either quickly dodge a missile or enter a cinematic mode to easily shoot down your enemy,I see no point in using it,infact i recommend against using it.

Completed Operation Flashpoint: Resistance yesterday. I liked it a fair bit, but one or two of the missions in it were complete bullshit. A lot of the missions, especially the "clear the base" ones, were too easy to cheese if they gave you tanks since you could just snipe them with HEAT rounds from ranges they couldn't hit you from. I also liked the resource management, where you didn't have unlimited amounts of everything and everything carried over from mission to mission and equipment you got was dependant on how you completed missions, so if you steal only one tank, that's how many you will have the next mission. If a truck of Western gear gets destroyed, you won't be getting any of those the next mission over and lose out on some of the best guns in the game.

Literally wasting my time with the 3rd "Codex GOTY 2015".

The Velen part was genuinely good, but since i force myself to finish the game plus the DLCs without really paying attention, mostly because the combats make me cry tears of vomit.

Finished Dishonored (twice - with good boy and chaotic one).

Great game. Special skills make it a bit too easy (teleport is so OP, just as nightvision and time stop and there are more than enough mana potions even on hardest difficulties) but it's fun. Well, chaotic run (kill them all!) was boringfest (game gives you too many ways of 1-hit killing enemies) but ending was much better (last mission, not ending movie - that was almost the same TBH, I was expecting something more).

Not a new Thief 1 or 2, but still worth a go.

Started playing Arcanum (Multiverse edition). So far I have experienced far more frustration than enjoyment. I just lost an hour of progress due to forgetting to save and getting an impossible random encounter for my level (I fucking hate the companion permadeath and I don't have the schematic for the item to revive them).

So much unnecessary frustration. I did almost all available Shrouded Hills quest and I am currently in Derholm/Black Root. Both seem a little too high level for me (currently at level 5). I get my ass handed to me in combat. I feel traumatized from all the reloading (fucking thieves on the bridge in Shrouded Hills were so overpowered and there was nowhere I could have leveled up to kill them).

I never experienced anything like this in either Fallout or Planescape Torment. I love Arcanum's setting, but I cannot get past the frustration.

I presume you did not go with a ranged build. I might try a melee combat build.

I'm playing Kenshi.

Probably the most unique game I played. There is really nothing like it around. Mod support is good as well. There is really no way to describe it easily, let's just say it's a mix of Mount and Blade, Openworld RPGs, Jagged Alliance with bandits that want to wear your skin and insect dudes that actively try to eat your characters.

About to install Planescape: Torment. My copy still has the plastic wrapper...

Any essential mods I need to install?

No idea, played it on release with maybe the usual official patches, i hope you're in the mood for some great but word heavy quests.

If there is a mod to speed spells animations up, you should use it.
