RPG Wokedex Strap Yourselves In Steve gets a Kidney but I don't even get a tag. Pathfinder: Wrath I helped put crap in Monomyth
Played Warframe during this (three-day) week-end. The main gameplay part, as in all the shooting, jumping, moving, cutting is very engaging, but I'm not so sold on the non-mission part, it look like much of the progression is going to be either a lot of grinding or paying with premium currency, but I'm not there yet. I could still make some progress and unlock some new weapons and I'm about to be able to built a new frame, I'll see how that change the gameplay compared to the first one. The mods and damage systems allow to tailor your loadout depending on the enemy faction which is great; in addition to this it's cool to be able to mitigate weakness or reinforce strengths. On the other hand redoing the mod allocation for each mission when switching of enemy faction is a chore.
I'll still have to try out the archwing missions.

Also the idea of having a skateboard was good, makes travel in the open-world bearable (even if the content there seems repetitive).

I think I'll continue to play until I hit a grind wall and stop there I think.

Rages of Mages 2: Thought this would be up my alley, but it was really, really, really boring. It might have been passable in 1999, but even then there would have been better RTS on the market.

Penumbra - Black Plague: Not as scary as I thought it would be. I'm not a big fan of point and click gameplay, and the puzzles were a bit meh.

Brogue: A somewhat simple but really fun Roguelike.

Avadon 2/3: I've played them before and thought they were OK. Now that I understand a bit more about game mechanics and how to optimise characters, I find them a lot more fun. Nothing fantastic, but they still have more gameplay than a lot of 'games' today.

The grind isn't even that terrible and the premium currency is quite cheap, for 60 dollars you can buy pretty much everything the game has to offer, Warframe has a much more reasonable monetizing method than other F2P games, the major problem the game has, the thing that made me give up is that the devs decided to add open world areas and "cinematic" quests at the cost of regular meaningful updates, so you have open world areas that are empty and pointless while you have insanely repetitive missions with low to zero variation on enemies and scenarios with pretty basic to non-existent level design and primitive enemy AI. The game evolved little on its core gameplay that remains fun but pretty basic.

All that star chart? Don't be fooled by that, most of that is just the stuff you already played with enemies with inflated HP numbers, Digital Extremes are the king of the ctrl +V , Crtl + C, if you don't have friends to play with you, you will be bored out of your skull by the time you reach Pluto.

I'm almost done with A Hat in Time. It's a budget Mario 64/Odyssey where the worst (and most frequent) enemy is the camera. Otherwise quite enjoyable, it has cute and fun stuff on equal parts, and some challenging levels.

Turns out the DLC is basically all the levels turbocharged with difficulty. If you've ever wanted a hard Mario game where advanced tricks are required, this is it. I did finish the final boss without completing world 4 and that was good enough for me. World 4 was just long vertical platforming levels, and they dragged far too long to be enjoyable.

So I moved to Okami, I'm 3 hours in and there's been the grand total of 1 puzzle, which had a video intro/explanation, 2 text explanation, and 1 other video explanation halfway through it. It was pushing a ball through a corridor into a clearly marked slot. I wanted to play (linear?) Zelda dungeons, not being handheld through baby's first ARPG.

I'm probably moving on to another game, between Dragon's Dogma and D:OS2.

I had realized that the open world areas are pointless, with missions that aren't as fun as the ones from the star chart.
The repetitiveness of missions and environnements is not (yet) an issue, especially since I'm going to unlock a new frame and the archwing

Had a weird experience with a lootbox game.
They had this event where I can buy hardening or softening cream and apply it to my girls.

The description says it is to make breasts bounce firmer or softer.
I thought a firm bounce would be better, so I bought those and applied them on her honk honks.
Lo and behold, they were so firm they barely bounce anymore.

Soldier of Fortune - Platinum Edition.

Installed from my old CD without a hitch. :smug:

It's weird how very easy it is on Medium difficulty. But I already completed it twice back in the days, so I can't be assed to start over on higher difficulty.
But I have so many images in my mind from old shooters I played 10-20 years ago that I can't place, and it's starting to bother me. So I feel I need to complete the game again as some of the images may be from SoF.

I like the hit location system, which means you can even shoot weapons out of enemies' hands. Maybe a kind of pacifist challenge where you don't kill enemies (unless you have to) but instead unarm them is feasible?

It was weird reading the review in CGW. The reviewer complained about the violence, but you can turn it off so what's the problem? And the game is supposedly racist because you can shoot non-whites. :lol: So far nearly every enemy has been white. :roll: And guess what colour your sidekick is?

EDIT: Oh well, it got harder in Siberia when I can't see the enemies in the fog, but they can see me.

The combat is a little jank and some of the voice acting is weird, but your choices actually do matter and everyone responds to your choices and dialog believably. It's not a giant game, but it has a shit-ton of player agency and impact. If you want to play a game where you feel like your choices actually matter, I'd definitely give this a shot. It's not super long either, but it has many multiple paths and endings that inspire a lot of replayability.

I raged so hard at this the last time I played SOF. Fortunately that segment isn't very long.

Started playing Dungeon Siege II... So far 3 and a half hours. It's not a very interesting game, so I have to ask you people is it worth continuing?

I like the varied environments and seemingly lots of stuff to learn about and use (items, spells, armor etc.), but I dislike the monotonous music, predictable plot (I think), pretty childish dialogue, and enemies that respawn. Why do developers go at great lengths to create a seemingly believable world with various factions and what not, only to ruin it all with enemies that respawn every 5 minutes?

The reason I've decided to play DSII is because I want to play its sequel DSIII who had Chris Avellone involved in its development, but I thought to myself it would be a good idea to give an older title a go just to see what is it all about. I'm close to dropping it, but just in case someone has something interesting to say about the game I'll gladly read it, ironically reading about it might extract more enjoyment than playing it :/

Goddamit, that first Tokyo level in Soldier of Fortune is annoying, with endlessly respawning Yakuza.
Funny thing is that my memories of it was kinda confused, so I thought the endlessly respawning Yakuza in the stairwells was from Deus Ex.

The most unpleasant level is the slaughterhouse and the way out of it.

So I'm playing D:OS and I've reached the mines with the patrolling invulnerable Death Knights.

All the bullshit that I've had to endure so far: the obnoxious voice-acting coupled with the endless meaningless chatter, the dull as dishwater plot with so many stupid Nickelodeon tier characters that it makes my brain bleed. And now this. It's not that it's particularly difficult. I can probably get past them by sneaking after a few dozen tries, or maybe by some chance find a merchant that has enough invisibility potions. That's not the point, however. The point is that this section of the game is completely retarded and pointless.

I've played for 28 hours so far and it really feels like I'm slipping into the warm embrace of insanity. I've talked to more animals than fucking Dr. Dolittle.

I kind of rage quit Soldier of Fortune at the refinery level which I think is very close to the end. Normally I would finish a game, but since I have already completed it once or twice before I don't feel any incentive to do so when the artifical fog prevents me from see enemies (not even their muzzle fire) but they can still see me.

I used to think SoF was a good, solid FPS.
It still is mostly enjoyable, but the AI is just too weird. On Medium difficulty most soldiers can't even hit from point blank, and there's far too much spawning out of thin air. Except for the hit zones on the bodies of enemy soldiers there's not much of a physics engine to speak of. I once shot a soldier when going up a slope and his arm came sliding slowly down. Charming...

It could be interesting to play it again and try for a pacifist solution, shooting the weapons out of the enemies' arms. Anyone tried that?

Dungeon Siege III isn't related with the previous Dungeon Sieges, you can safely skip them and go to Dungeon Siege III.

Took my first shot at a lantern Apostle playthrough in Cultist Simulator. It was fun, and brought back some of that element of discovery and piecing things together that makes the early Cultist Simulator experience so good. I may give Forge a go some time soon.

I also basically quit Hollow Knight. It is a gorgeous game with great music and mediocre gameplay. It also has way too much backtracking and aimless wandering, and more substantially I've simply lost investment in the story. Since the gameplay in and of itself isn't really fun outside of boss fights and I don't care about the story/world/characters, there is not really any enjoyment left to be had from it.

To compare it to a same-genre game, Ori and the Blind Forest also had a fairly open world with a lot of backtracking, but the pacing was much better - it didn't drag on and on. There was also some actual motivation - to restore the forest of Nibel to a healthy state. In Hollow Knight it's not clear what the motivation is since almost everyone is dead, apparently, and even if you can clear the infection you won't be able to bring back Hallownest (presumably - it doesn't seem like there are enough living bugs to repopulate it).

Ori also had better gameplay. Obviously they were both made for controllers first, KBM second, but Ori works better with KBM than Hollow Knight.

I don't think Hollow Knight is a bad game per se, just that it's lost my interest.

Without much else to do at the moment I've been getting back into Guild Wars a bit. It's a generally dead game, of course, but people do still co-op sometimes and we've started to get minor QoL updates from a couple devs in their spare time.

I recently lack the concentration to focus on a single game for a long time, so alternating between these:

Unreal World - killed the Njerpez slavers in the "Runaway Slave" start and took their equipment, so pretty OP in that regard. now hunting, fishing and slowly building a hut.
Kenshi - roaming the land, recruiting new people and overburdoning them to level up strength, mining copper, killing dust bandits.
A Total War Saga: Thrones of Britannia - playing the Gaelic King and trying to ignore the annoying tooltips.
Watch Dogs - just driving around aimlessly, enjoying the autumnal landscape and testing every car/motorbike that I see. already found my favorite car: that 80s style looking ferrari (no brands in game, but recognisable) that pops and burbles when you let off the throttle just before the gear changes.

Diablo II, Median XL mod version 1.F9. Greatest mod I've ever seen for any game ever, by a mile. I first played this 10 years ago, and I'm back to it again.

Yes. Tried Sigma, hated it. The guy in charge of Sigma (Marco) is a hack compared to Brother Laz (Median XL's creator). Sigma is riddled with poor design decisions. They are also leveraging Patreon and trying to create an online model like PoE (no PlugY support, removed /players 8). The whole thing stinks. The reason I'm playing 1.F9 is because of how much I hated Sigma. 1.F9 seems to be the best version, the golden age of the mod before Laz passed it off to lesser developers. Thankfully it's still available for download.

Gave Metro: Last Light Redux a go as a sort of warm up to Exodus and I couldn't stomach it for more than 2 hours. If it were "open-world" like Stalker or Underrail (open-tunnel?) I could bear the shitty gunplay and movement but as it is- it's just CoD, except probably worse.

I've also been horsing around in Kenshi. Would like to make a bigger post about it but for as much as I've played I reckon it's impressive but at the same time feel only half-finished. Love the world tho.
