What game are you wasting time on?

Finished Gothic, immediately booted Gothic 2 with an expansion. Very comfy game.

Not sure which faction to pick. Back in the day I only finished it as a Paladin, so it would make sense to try something different. However, I don't really want to play as a fire mage since mages aren't cool, and I don't want to join mercenaries either - iirc their path is way harder, and NotR's difficulty curve is already very rough.
cleared Dexter's camp, played for a couple of hours after that, and then noticed that somehow i've lost ALL MY GOLD, 7K coins. And I don't have a savefile to fall back to because I overwrote it. Fuck.

Looks like this is a relatively common bug. That faggot Greg, smh.

Completed the original Doom.
5Cal2yz.png

Yeah, this game deserves it's reputation.
The most surprising thing is that Doom made me feel like an actual adventurer, the kind who ventures forth into the deep dungeons in search of secrets - something that many fantasy RPGs have failed to do.
Not sure how to feel about teleporting enemies in those "Thy flesh consumed" levels, will try them later on GZdoom instead of Crispy Doom.

Also, fuck the lost souls.

Started playing Bloodrayne 2. Playing this game gives me an erection, just as it should be.

That said, it feels remarkably clunky and cheap compared to the first game. It's like the budget for this was 50 bucks. What gives?
I trust you played the first Bloodrayne?
Good stuff.

Kabas Good job!
Now play Doom 2 and learn the benefits of a Super Shotgun that only a real man can appreciate.

Just plain ol' Thief. It's been long enough since I last played this that I may as well be playing it for the first time. Especially since I believe last time was on normal. I really had almost no memory of the mansion so it was all fresh and novel. I switched from hard to expert for the second level and boy did it make me earn my objectives. Carrying a dude through the mines to the entrance through zombies and using a barely functional lift. I could swear it sent me to the lowest level with the spider when I told it to take me to the second. I had to consult a walkthrough to find that damn 'hand' as I had no idea what I was actually looking for. Turns out it was literally just a hand on a skeleton. How long ago did the fella loan it from Garrett if he had time to turn into a skeleton meanwhile?

Bone hoard next. I didn't remember the game frontloaded the zombie levels this early, either.

Strap Yourselves In Serpent in the Staglands Shadorwun: Hong Kong Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire Steve gets a Kidney but I don't even get a tag. Pathfinder: Wrath I'm very into cock and ball torture I helped put crap in Monomyth
As usual got multiple games running simultaneously.
In no particular order.
Yakuza 1-4,6: dicking around finishing side content so I can throw down with the final boss.
Yakuza 0: replaying on the hardest difficulty and taking my time this run.
Yakuza 5: laughing whilst I watch my nephew struggle with the weaker characters. Nothing more. Just sit there and mock him and his peasant controller.
Wasteland 2: decided to resume my run, I last left it at the attack of the gigaplants.
Way of the Samurai 3: the search for the perfect sword continues. I might be holding on to this game for far too long.
Way of the Samurai 4: just trying out new styles. Search for the perfect sword done. Search for the perfect style to follow.
Black Geyser: In memory of Crushmaster. :salute:
Bully: just replaying. Too bad the port is terrible
And the usual dicking around in Mount and blades, Sea dogs et cetera.
And that's just the games this week. Sometimes I wonder how I get any other work done.

Expert is the perfect difficulty, forcing you(more or less) to play as a Thief, which means no killing of humans(you can still kill other creatures), additional ojectives, less health.

Codex 2016 - The Age of Grimoire Codex+ Now Streaming! Enjoy the Revolution! Another revolution around the sun that is. My team has the sexiest and deadliest waifus you can recruit. Pathfinder: Wrath
ATOM RPG- I had kind of ignored this, and I'm not sure why, but it was on sale recently and I am fucking hooked. Playing 4-5 hour binges for the first time in a while. I think I messed up a quest whough which is kind of frustrating me, if anyone can advise I'd appreciate it -
It's the Peregon quest about the cannibals. I spoke to the guy out the front and got them to go away, so that I could enter the hideout, but then found that I was way under-prepared for the ambush on the way out, so decided to come back later. But now I can't get the guys out the front to go away again. Should I just blast my way in? Or are there other ways to get them to move? I worry that without evidence, attacking them will trigger the whole town to attack me, as no-one seems to take the rumours seriously.

Murder by Numbers - I bought this because it was a highly rated picross game, and I was not expecting much of a story. There is actually quite a bit of story attached, but it's not an issue because I'm quite enjoying it. The puzzles are good.

It's been a while, but I played some gaems.

TUNIC: Secret Legend
Gameplay videos left a mediocre impression. And the combat is indeed fairly standard, no surprises there. What I didn't know was, that this is a game about riddles. Discovering basic gameplay mechanics is a big part of the game because it doesn't tell you anything except for the manual pages you can collect. Yes, there is an actual oldschool type manual in the game that spoonfeeds you the necessary knowledge to progress. But you can figure things out by yourself if you are observant. There is potential for sequence breaking, shortcuts that lead to late-game areas, etc. While the manual is a cute idea, it's also the only part that doesn't really fit with the story. Who left those pages everywhere? Who is the mystery person that left all those notes scribbled in the manual?
Anyway, I like puzzles, so I enjoyed it for what it is. The golden path puzzle was really cool when you suddenly see all the golden lines in the manual pages. There is also yet another "alien language", of which I've seen too many in games by now. Translating them usually comes down to simple letter substitution (boring). So I was positively surprised that this game obfuscates it with 2 twists. 1) A vowel is always combined with a consonant into one symbol, and you have to tell them apart. 2) This is a phonetic language, so for example the word "options" is written like "opshuns". However, you don't even have to translate the language. It is helpful, but it's also possible to achieve 100% completion without it, with the exception of some collectibles that don't count towards completion, and one bonus puzzle that's not worth doing anyway because it is designed to be solved by "the community" and not by a single player.
This seems like goty material for a certain kind of gamer.

Taiji
Short description: The Witness 2D. But instead of drawing lines, the puzzles are about turning tiles on or off on a grid. JBlow is listed as a backer, so he seems to approve.
It's pretty good, but not as good as The Witness. The puzzles could have used the environment more. The big optional endgame puzzle does this well. And eventually, they will start to feel samey, just bigger, especially the supposedly harder, optional puzzles. Even when faced with a big, intimidating puzzle, you can often find the first step via process of elimination and go from there. Then it feels a bit like Sudoku. There is also no "Witness moment", if you know what I mean. Still, solid puzzle game with beautiful pixel graphics (except the protagonist).

Momodora - Reverie Under the Moonlight
Technically a metroidvania, but the map is so small, it almost doesn't deserve the name. Takes roughly 5 hours to complete. It is non-linear, though, and you can tackle the 4 main areas in any order. There aren't many movement upgrades or abilities to unlock, so gating is minimal. This game is all about the combat. Animations are well done, and attacks have weight to them (despite the fact that your weapon is a leaf). Playing this on hard is also challenging. Many enemies can kill you in one or two hits. Checkpoints and healing are pretty much like Dark Souls.
I don't know. It's a neat game, worth a playthrough on sale. But there's not much else to it.

Playing Doom 2

Yeah, super shotgun is amazing. Especially against crowds. Way stronger than the one from Quake, in which it's only effective against mook-tier enemies or while under quad damage powerup.

Crucial Error Map from Arcane Dimensions.
XiscuRM.png

Grunts can be an actual threat once you give them some of the player's arsenal, even while having the same fragility. Another good map, shame i didn't found all of the circuits boards, really wanted to know what's in that secret:negative:
My favourite new weapon is a quad-shotgun, a weapon that feels like an actual super shotgun of Quake. Bloody Axe is also handy, as it's can stunlock enemies which is very useful in certain tough situations. Plasma rifle^ is nice, work pretty much the same as the Doom one.
My most hateful new enemy is the dark knight variant with a flail who can throw homing projectiles not too dissimilar to the ones thrown by the original vores. That bog level featured a bunch of those flail knights.
Edit: I finally noticed that the shotgun is called widowmaker and it's a three barrel one. I am blind

Doom 1 - "Thy flesh consumed" levels. Only now i am using a GZdoom sourceport. First thing i did was disabling jumping and free mouse-look, felt wrong with those options enabled.
As for the levels themselves, what kind of bullshit is this?!
UeaXSbT.png

How many hell barons can you put in one room?! it's just the second level!
Actually, i don't dislike the difficulty spike. It feels like i actually need to utilise my full arsenal in order to get through, instead of just hoarding energy cells until the last levels. Definitely completing this one.
This second level culminates in the optional battle against cyberdemon.

Of course i decided to stay and kill him, you can loot dat sweet BFG from his little corner as a reward.

When you get done with that I recommend playing every level from a pistol start (just do idclev xx to warp to the level you want to play). It's what levels are actually balanced for. Makes it so you can feel the weapon progression and appreciate upgrades in every level along with making ammo management more relevant.

Just finished Baldur's Gate 1, likely taking a break before my next IE game but almost certainly will be playing Icewind Dale 1 (as the combat/encounters are what I enjoyed most from BG1)

Finishing up a playthrough of Strange Horticulture as well; looks like final playtime will clock in around 6 hours for a single playthrough which is just perfect for this kind of game. There's clearly a second ending available but we'll see if I want to pursue it immediately after finishing the first (as there's not much branching/randomization in the game, it's literally making choice B instead of A a few times)

I just started a new run with a mage (I've finished the game multiple times since release but I'm not a munchkin and never optimized any builds. Also I always play fighters or paladins in D&D and never finished BG on a Mage MC), but I decided to give everyone darts and it's pretty hilarious early on (only up to Beregost so far)

Being Level 30+ and still not completing the main quest yet in Morrowind, I am at a point where I can create custom spells for any desired purpose(with the aid of enchanting, as the spells cost insane amounts of magicka).
Just created a spell called "Power Leap". Effect is "Fortify Acrobatics 1000 points on Self".
Why walk when you can FLY?
