The funny thing with Fallout Tactics is that the graphics and the UI actually holds up really well still, today, which isn't a small feat for a game released 17 fucking years ago. By comparison, most other games of that age looks and feels considerably more dated.

Classic 2D games tend to hold up much better in the long run, funny enough, while late 90s-early 2000s 3D games look positively horrible and janky, sometimes outright

Yeah, I sometimes think it's a wonder 3D took off at all. I mean, yeah, I know why, it's just that early on it looked so shit and sometimes I felt like I was the crazy one for not lapping up the shit that was churned out.

It's not until fairly recently that we've started to get 3D-based games that is rivaling 2D classics in terms of actual aesthetics and beauty, and even so, it's few and far between.
