I havent even played Outer Worlds and I got it for free.
I did. It felt like a waste of time.

nobody can seriously claim that it had better gameplay than either of Pillars of Eternity games.
Watch me make that claim. I just recently finished BG1, TotSC, SoD, BG2, and ToB.

Perhaps not to an army of rpgcodex troglodytes, but to the rest of us their games are pretty good.
Who is this ''us''? Are they in the room with you?
RPG fans other than a minority of haters who prefer games from 30 years ago that weren't even that great. For example, as good as BG1 was in it's day, nobody can seriously claim that it had better gameplay than either of Pillars of Eternity games.
I see many things in your words:
1- Ad hominem, instantly qualifies everybody in the site as a troglodyte despite being apparently a recent user.
2- Strawman, qualifies everyone who rightfully dislikes Pillars as just haters.
3- A sweeping generalization
4- False dichotomy, separating the ''actual rpg fans'' from the fake rpg fans that you don't like.
That's a lot of fallacies for such short messages lil bro, and you don't even provide a single argument for your outrageous claims!
We shall follow your career with great interest.

No.

Progressives are just filthy communists at the end of the day - a plague upon society who subvert constantly and loathe anyone who doesn't think and act exactly like they do.

It'll be an overly idealistic, preachy and effete game with diversity forced everywhere. Any depth of note unfilled and eroded away as to not offend the delicate sensibilities of those who despise everything that makes a fantasy game different from the real world.

Seeing some of the developers have complete meltdowns over the results of the recent American election told me all I needed to know but then again the previews of the game revealed it was quite obviously compromised by virtue of having no conventionally attractive fair skinned men and women. Another common sign of subversion.

I enjoyed the original Pillars of Eternity for what it was - the sequel was terribly infested by the tedious 'mUh aNtI-cOloNiaLism' nonsense. I'd say it's a safe bet that even if you want to lean into the idea of being an envoy for the Empire in Avowed the narrative will strong arm your character into defecting and siding with the locals.

Apparently Josh Sawyer is helping with Avowed. My interest in game got stronger. It currently sits on 5 on a 10 point scale.
I'm 30% willing to play it.

"Helping" can mean anything, chances are he made comments to Patel how she can improve her game and then got told to shut the fuck up. Ultimately Obsidian is limited by many things including the game engine and the people they have employed now so it is unreasonable to expect Sawyer to solve every problem.

Honestly? I doubt it.

1) I have too many better games to play at the moment.
2) I am not going to buy it without a deep discount.
3) "Skyrim with a slightly better combat" is not really a phrase that sells the game for me.
4) I have no interest in the setting of Pillars of Eternity.
5) I doubt the writing will be so good to make up for the game's other shortcomings. Obsidian's track record isn't great as of late.

No but I will read through prestigious Codex's Hate Thread.
I doubt there will be much worth reading.

He claimed that he did some writing in it and is helping out with some system design and stuff like that as an advisor.

I'm just happy for the man, because PoE world is his child. Would be cool for him to direct an expansion for this game later on.

Except the "child" has been taken away and then raped many times by now. And now Sawyer is supposed to "fix" him somehow. Yup, not only happy but even much jealous for Sawyer.

obsidian sucks cock and i hope microsoft lays them all off soon
i don't, because they would then spread and infest other companies because they have "experience" in the industry

let's keep them safely contained while blowing microsoft money, win-win

I recently beat PoE1 and replayed BG1 and it's not even close. Both games feature too many trash fights but at least PoE1 occasionally requires you to change your strategy. I was challenged on occasion on second highest difficulty in some of the early fights (like anytime I had to fight shadows) and even some DLC fights like the final fight of WM1 and even some trash fights there. Meanwhile the only fights I found truly difficult in BG1 was that demon at the end of Soultaker quest chain.

All martial classes in AD&D are auto attack bots with zero thought required to play them. Most wizard spells are pretty underwhelming and you can get by with spamming a few really OP spells. Not to mention how easy it is to break enemy AI in BG1 by just kiting around. There's nothing challenging in that game, sorry.

BG2 drastically improves mage combat but other classes remain equally dull.

Meanwhile, character building in PoE1 and especially PoE2 is incredibly rich and fun. There are countless possible viable builds in Deadfire that all play very different from each other. PoE also has very refreshing new classes (cipher) and new takes on standard fantasy classes (chanter, monk) that help keep it fresh.

Sorry, as much as I love BG1 I just don't see any part of it's gameplay that's better than PoE1 or Deadfire.

Progressives have meltdowns on social media, conservatives have meltdowns on social media AND attempt to overturn the election. I know which is worse.

You certainly don't look like someone who loats anyone who doesn't think like you do though. Not at all.

I'm not American. I'm European, mate.

Having seen what progressives have inflicted upon the various European countries in the name of 'progress' you'd certainly be correct for deducing that I loathe them. Especially when they don't even have the competence or the decency to allow for the bread and circus distractions to continue in their desperation to subvert every single hobby in existence as well.

Something which I reckon is a fair bit more insidious than questioning the results of an election when progressives lie, cheat and deny reality itself in order to get ahead.

I'll probably buy it on a 50%-75% sale or if i have nothing else to play. As shimadamada mentioned, Obsidian does an excellent job with character building mechanics and classes, unlike bioware's recent failguard. Also the lack of romances is always a plus because it will keep the degenerate reddit crowd at bay.
