Dumb scoring systems in FPS games usually bother me (see: Necrovision) but I hardly even notice it in Wrack. Of course, this raises the question of why the game has a scoring system in the first place. Linking combos together by blowing up corpses is cool and all but if you're going for that style of play why would you limit yourself to the standard, Doom-style weaponset? Just go full ham and give players lightsabers and electric shuriken launchers

On a related note: In a discussion with the leader developer, I suggested the hyperblade would be more useful and fun if it had no ready animation. As it stands, you need to pull the sword out, wait for the ready animation to complete, start swinging, then finally hit something at the end of the swing animation. This takes about a second, maybe more, and feels clunky as shit. As a result I hardly ever use the sword.

The developer responded he would not make this change because the sword would become overpowered, and he was striving for proper weapon balance.

Yeah, it would be better to make the sword give some sort of "debuff" instead to encourage caution and reward skilled play (you take more damage while wielding it, enemies killed with sword asplode so hard they don't drop items, only really powerful at full health, starts weak when you pull it out but grows stronger the more enemies you kill with it until you put it away, etc). A great player would be able to speed through levels with it, turning into a whirlwind of death, at the risk of fucking up his score if he makes mistakes. Making it weak or annoying to use is the worst way to balance things.

They are doing KS campaign for sequel https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/2134746636/wrack-starfall-fps-video-game
They dropped all pretenses of being "old school shooter" (which original sucked at anyway) and decided to incorporate as much of popular indie game fads as possible
