Any word on if the mech form things are just for combat, or do they have utility like the ones in XCX? With flying and stuff, they were a huge game changer because you towered over everything and could reach new areas, speed around, crush small enemies, etc.

No mechs but Oroboros form which kind is "mech". Basically two characters combine into one and you get extra powerful attacks and basically infinite life until time runs over.

Latest Ryujinx vulcan plays Xeno3 basically problem free and with the fastest speed. Shader complilation is also super fast.

edit: scratch that. It works well but it gets random hangs here and there. Yuzu + ample amount of ram seems to be the best way.

edit2: 60fps was at fault. It was causing cutscenes to crash game.

Yuzu emulator build with fixed memory leaks for Xenoblade Chronicles 3. Use OpenGL.
Description: 0 issues, no crashes, no corrupted graphics, everything works perfectly with version 1.0.0.
On my 5800X3D it runs without any FPS drops. So it should also work great on Ryzen3600 or something like that.

Shader Cache (for 1.0.0) to eliminate in game stutter when you play for the first time.
tutorial: Right click Xeno3 game tile in Yuzu UI > Open Transferable Pipeline Cache > put opengl.bin there

Resolution mod, (for 1.0.0)removes dynamic scaling that makes everything blurry (default game setting on switch)
tutorial: Right click Xeno3 game tile in Yuzu UI > open mod data location > copy resmod folder there

60fps mod (for 1.0.0) does what it says.
Tutorial: press LB + A to enable it in game, LB + B to disable it in game.
!!WARNING!! - only use 60fps while you explore etc. switch it off for cutscenes because it crashes them.
There isn't yet CPU that can properly run game at 60fps. Most of the time i get 45-50fps and 60fps here and there. But thanks to Gsync it is much more smoother. Remember to switch off Vsync in Yuzu options or game will run in 30fps 45fps or 60fps only which means if you don't have juice in CPU to run it at 45 it will stay at 30 even if you have 44 fps.

Game unlocked for me and finally started a campaign. Gotta say, the visual improvement is quite striking once you are actually playing, even though we all knew it was coming. It's still early, but the general feel of the gameplay also feels smoother. I think this is gonna be a good one.

So is there no equipment in this game, just a few accessory slots? Pretty big decline compared to the other games where you have multiple armor slots and weapons.

Edit: I actually forgot that XC2 didn't have proper equipment either. One of many reasons that game was such a disappointment. Very lazy of MonolithSoft. Suddenly all the cosmetic DLC they're shilling in the "expansion pass" makes a lot more sense.

If equipment are just arbitrary stat sticks then don't even bother having equipment at all. It just adds extra tedious micromanagement without adding any meaningful decision making.

Accessories only which is pretty standard for jrpgs in general.
On other hand there are like 400 systems to build your character with though it takes a while to unlock every system.
It is mostly about class combination, positioning and skills/accesories.

So far my favorite jrpg combat system. I would wish though AI would behave a little bit better but at least they give you battle commands to manage positioning a bit.

Accesories are pretty meaningful in Xeno3. For example you have accesorry that gives you free attack every time you block attack. They are much better than your sawyerist +2% like in POE.

XC2 had 2 accessory slots (w/ a third in ng+) as well as two other 'accessories' for blades (core chips and aux cores) as well as pouch items.. I assume most people here don't know about the last three based on some of the comments about XC2's combat that's been bandied about

Finished the first chapter and the game is shit. It's like it was made expressly for the two camps of people that absolutely hated XBC2, the brainlets and the woke. The brainlets get tutorials shoved into their faces which I'm sure the brainlets needed but it's condescending to everyone else. "Did you know you can open chests in the overworld? Try it! No.. really fucking try it because you're not moving on until you open this fucking chest" "YAY YOU OPENED THE CHEST U R SO SMART!!!" "Did you know you can equip accessories? Go equip it now." "YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAS YOU GO SISTER, YOU JUST EQUIPPED AN ACCESSORY!!!" "psssst hey... did you know there are SHOPS in the game? You use SHOPS to BUY things. Try buying something now!" No thanks, I'll save my money, I already have accessories that I found "NO YOU WILL BUY THIS FUCKING ACCESSORY OR YOU WON'T PLAY THE GAME" ok fine "NOW THAT YOU BOUGHT IT, DID YOU KNOW YOU CAN EQUIP ACCESSORIES?" yeah you made me do that earlier "GO AND PUT ON THIS ACCESSORY WE JUST MADE YOU BUY hahah we are teaching you how to use accessories which we told you before but you are brainlets so we'll force you to do it again" "Hey did you know you can change the arts you have equipped?" yes, I did, I've played every fucking game in the entire xenoverse "GO CHANGE YOUR ART RIGHT NOW TO THIS SPECIFIC ONE WE WANT YOU TO USE!!!!!!!!!!!! Oh you want to look at the other characters and maybe change their arts while you are here? lol no, watch a 30 minute cutscene first."

the cutscenes are boring and go on way too long compared to every other game in the series it's ridiculous and I already get the sense that they are now going to have to extend them even further so that each cast member gets to say something regardless of how useless it is. everything feels soulless.

as for the woke camp they get sterilized designs, neutered dialogues and this:

I've seen an image from later on in the game that to me says that the creators didn't go woke. If they did then said image would have never ever gotten into the game in the first place. Sounds like the shift in art direction was a choice of the creator's own free will. XBC2 was the exception, not the norm for the Xeno series.

I'll receive my copy is XBC3 tomorrow probably. 2 wasn't really great. But I enjoyed XBC1 on Wii and the DE version on Switch. But I have to say that there was something special about X. I loved it so much and the world was great to explore as well. Story was decent as well and flying around in my pimped out mech was fantastic. Also the "city", "suburb" and "outpost" areas all felt alive. All without not having to load jack shit except for when starting the game every time. X was peak XBC.

played more and the game is getting better as it opens up but there are still several things that baffle me:

why did they keep the "you have to stand still to auto attack" from 2 but removed the ability to stutter step?
why did they remove 3-hit combos from autoattacking that 2 had? in 2 if you cancelled on the 3rd hit you'd do more damage/get more arts charge
why do they have forced tutorials for basic shit like using a shop and equipping accessories/skills, but leave actually useful information like the tactics button that tells your team to focus on burst or smash only available in the tips menu?

a lot of it seems like massive overcorrection from people who found 2 too confusing


as for it being 'woke' now, I was mostly shitposting (like that image of a person saying a character is non-binary because of a screenshot of characters referring to someone off in the distance as a generic 'they') but it definitely seems a little sterilized at times and everyone feels boring. even the villains are kind of meh compared to Zanza/Metal Face and Malos/Jin.. I'm sure some of that is due to the world design/situation but still...

I played a couple of hours and although I agree the tutorials are garbage, I like the general feel of the game. The soundtrack is especially good. Also, it looks miles better than 2 in portable mode on the Switch - most of my playtime is in portable mode, so it makes a lot of difference to me.

Story was decent. Do you know the difference between bad, decent, good and great? Plus the ending was pretty good. Especially with the reveal of certain party member.

I'm in chapter 3. Playing via Yuzu emulator, I found a version that runs (mostly) full speed with a shader pack I downloaded that has 18k+ shaders in it.

There's way too many grind mechanisms/systems in place. You got exp for levels, you got CP for class level exp, you got mastery exp (so you can put one classes attacks on another class), and then you got a separate exp to unlock new classes entirely. And you also got SP for a whole separate skill tree, not gonna spoil it. Then you got crafting/grind materials for gems, then you got side quests for collectipedia cards, and colony/region affinity levels, and no telling what else unlocks later on, IMO this is already way too much, and I'm assuming it's just the tip of the iceberg. It's the type of game for people who enjoy putting check marks in boxes, and filling bars and trees up. The combat is OK, and that's really the only reason I'm still even playing it, but most everything else I take issue with, including the English voice acting, everyone sounds like a cuck islander (British). There's also way too many cutscenes, and I've skipped about 1/2 of them.

I'm temped to just download cheat codes to put check marks into boxes and fill affinity bars up, and unlock the classes/masteries, but on the other hand I've always said that if I'm gonna do something like this, then I might as well just stop playing the game at all. I'm still sort of undecided about whether the combat is honestly good enough to outweigh the game's shortcomings in other areas (IMO). If too many more additional grind systems get implemented, I think I might as well just stop playing now.

Overall, it's worse than XBC1 for me. I thought the areas/exploration was better in XBC1 (so far), and there were less grindy systems in place, I also liked being able to get weapons/armor drops and upgrades, so that's one grind system I do like is gear drops which aren't a thing in XBC3. You were rewarded in XBC1 if you could take out that higher level mob and get a loot box from it in the form of higher tier weapon/armor upgrades, so there was actually a point in trying to fight stuff above your level, in XBC3 there's literally no point in trying to fight something 10 or 20 levels above you, as there's no real reward for it even if you do win. There was a unique/boss crab in a cave in chapter 2 that was higher level, and I managed to beat its ass at like level 16, it was a slough, lots of rip-revives, but I won by the skin of my teeth. In XBC1, I would have been rewarded for my efforts with a shiny loot box that had loot at least 1-2 tiers higher than the junk I was using. That's the one and only time I've tried that in XBC3, because it's just not worth the effort in this game.
