I think Matt Barton wanted the third part of his interview with Trent Oster to be about the development of Baldur's Gate and its Enhanced Edition. Instead, most of the episode is spent on a strange sidetrack discussion about the the game's upcoming console port and boxed Collector's Edition. It does finally get back on track in the last eight minutes, in which Trent talks about things such as Baldur's Gate's hidden Luck stat and its outdated multithreading implementation, which Beamdog ended up throwing out entirely in the Enhanced Edition.

I mean, I guess we already know most of what there is to know about the development of Baldur's Gate. There's one episode left, so maybe there's still time to reveal some new details.

Infinitron, there can be such things as slow news days. Why devalue the Codex front page by featuring increasingly irrelevant minutae?

Mr. Oyster might have been the man to invent W A S D key movement.

The RPG Codex has some traditions. One of these is posting every Matt Barton interview that's minimally relevant to our interests. He's a friend of this website.

I like Matt Barton and don't mean to deny or devalue his contributions, or his friendship to the site; the minutae I referred to are whatever it may be that Trent Oster -- at best a tangential figure to the Codex's interests -- recalls about BG's development.

Original BG's "multi-threading" has the ability to choke one processor thread on every system, regardless of the CPU speed, I am glad they improved this in EEs. Also, loading times.
