Fancy and handy tool. Without the ability to make screenshots the usability gets very limited though.
Screenshots? You mean an "Export map to PNG" feature? That will be added one day. You can create screenshots all day now too, like you can of any program

It depends on what you use the program for, though. You absolutely don't need an "export map to image" feature to map a game while you're playing it. So not sure why the lack of it is such a deal-breaker for you. But yeah, export to image will be added at some point.

Yep, I mean PNG exports. Sometimes I use the program to make my own maps, not just recreate maps of other games. There are other softwares for that but this one is lightweight and not bloated. And comes with handy tools.

When maps are complete I like to look at them whilst writing down stuff. Captures do the work but big ones can be a chore. Also I like to share them to other people to see what I'm talking about.

These aren't doors, but moving floors - think conveyor belts. Stepping on the first tile with the arrow moves you (and potentially also spins you) to the last tile in the sequence. Similar in effect to a teleporter but not quite the same (since you see the motion).
I see. I haven't encountered moving floors in the cRPG I played to date, but seems like a worthy addition to the upcoming new release.

These will be special floor types that can be rotated.

EDIT: Just published a YouTube video specifically about Gridmonger. Enjoy me getting literally everything about your lovely little program wrong.
It's a very good review, there's nothing factually wrong in it.

Also congrats for getting the spirit of the program and working *with* it, not against it. To quote you from the beginning of your video:

"I map not because I must, I map because I like to map."

:salute:

I will probably put a link to this on my front page, it's really well done.
The "moving floor" can be a slide or an avalanche like in Might and Magic.

Allowing zoom levels up to 50 as per your request in your YouTube video comment, plus another teaser of the searchable notes list pane:

Teaser. Searchable/filterable notes list pane on the left, and a new toggleable overlay thingy showing the linked cells (the blueish lines).

Hoping to get this out before the end of August.

My old man eyes thank you!
Well, good news, I've figured out an easy way to do full UI scaling. So I'll add an option to either use the OS-level DPI setting of Windows (default), or a user-selectable arbitrary scaling factor. This is 130% (but on a Retina MacBook, so technically 200%, then 130% on top of that).

Okay friends, Gridmonger v1.2.0 hit the shelves today! I've addressed most of the wishes/requests from this thread, then some.
You released this literally on the same day that I began my play through of the PS1/Llylgamyn Saga Knight of Diamonds, so I am making good use of those teleport lines - thank you!

Nice, enjoy :) You got your global interface zoom and conveyor belt (arrow) floor type too. Also, I put your video on my front page as it's a nice overview of the program and you understood its spirit.

Making heavy use of the conveyor belt and global zoom; the zoom especially is nice when streaming. I know you're not making a living from Gridmonger alone, but I'm donating today to support your work. Thanks for everything you do.

EDIT: Uhhhh actually Rincewind it looks like the PayPal link on your Gridmonger page is broken, and doesn't include an actual PayPal address. Please correct that and I'll drop that tip in your jar!

Glad to hear you're enjoying the program, man! Yeah, it's a 100% hobby project so I appreciate your donation.

I guess I forgot to put the actual link there, lol. It's fixed now!

Your program is very nice. Still getting used to it since I don't play many games that require it anymore, but while I am, I think this will help. I already have an idea of where I got lost and took a TPK. (I started playing Wiz 1 remake with: Hey, I'll remember, I'm a smart guy. Ended with: Ok, what's that thing called? Seems like a good time to give it a full test.)

I'm glad to hear you're enjoying you time with Gridmonger mediocrepoet. Make sure to read the manual; it should answer all your questions and it's now searchable.
Yeah I have been. I'm actually pretty blown away by how many features you've put in the program. Your experience with blobbers really shows just perusing the various icons and links available.

Yeah and I have more ideas. Haven't played Grimrock 2 yet, so I think I'll implement some transparent overlay feature so the map is displayed on top of the game screen when Alt-Tabbing.

Plus image and maybe PDF/SVG export support.

One thing that would be cool is if you were able to make the program automatically snap into the same window as the game you're mapping, like GBC does. I have no idea what that requires, but if it's something that was possible, I think it'd be great and help for QOL when playing and mapping.
