It's also a decline from Witcher 3 and Witcher 2 writing, in Cyberpunk there is no ladies of the woods/Bloody Baron/Heart of Stone level of quality in term of writing.

Instead, it's the typical "Read mail/Listen conversation, go there, kill X, get reward" ubishit quest.

The guns feel very cool to use. Look nice, have great animations. The city, its graphics and ambience are great.
Sadly that's mostly it. Can be nice for a little mindless fun.
Ironically the game is style over substance.

Ironically? It fits quite well to the cyberpunk version shown, all these implants are style over substance too ;)!

Finished the game yesterday after 145 hours, Phantom Liberty included. I had fun and don't regret playing this.

What I liked:
+ gameplay: total surprise for me, how fun it is. Combination of overall mobility + dash + air dash + double jump makes it a joy to play
+ very fun combat, another big surprise, after the mediocrity of Witcher 3; so many weapons to choose from, each one is different; hacking at enemies with a katana + bullet deflection + slowing down time never gets old, super fun
+ great soundtrack: combat theme, main theme, Johnny's theme, some of the radio songs
+ the game looks great with proper settings
+ very memorable quests & moments that will stay with me: The Heist, The Hunt, Johnny's intermission, Never Fade Away, Chippin' In, meeting Kerry for the first time etc.
+ the game is clearly for a mature audience: people will die, can betray you, hate you, based on your decisions - no sugar coating, fake happy endings
+ the devs had the courage to kill people who seemed important & a lot of work was put into their character
+ the woke factor was much better than I anticipated (although became worse in Phantom Liberty)
+ very unique game overall, worth playing for this fact alone
+ decent story, for once it's not about saving the world from an ancient evil
+ only 3 crashes to the desktop in the whole playthrough
+ it actually feels like a game someone created with a lot of effort, not a corporate quick money grab

What I didn't like:
- the open world feels... artificial? something is clearly missing here to make it more authentic, maybe a simple as more random stuff happening
- the difficulty fell off in the later parts of the game
- very few boss fights; I think the game would be better if all the Cyberpsycho encounters were incorporated as part of regular side quests and were a surprise for a player
- woke factor clearly present in Phantom Liberty (Myers, wtf)
- side gigs were repeatable (although they got much better in Phantom Liberty)

8.5 / 10. The game is worth playing in the current state.

Cool story bro, the guns in this game were designed by people who have absolutely no idea how guns work.

So, when does the real game start? So far it's been a long ass interactive cutscene with one real short segment of gameplay.
I assume it opens up at one point, but so far (just got my new eye implant so I assume it's still the part of some scripted beginning) it's very on the rails with dialogue full of quasi choices.

Yeah it will open up a bit soon. Just go with it. Honestly I kinda liked the intro.

The main issue with this game is the quality of the writing and the quality of the side content.

level-scaled loot with none of it handplaced
No, it's a mix of handplaced with generated.

https://vulkk.com/2020/12/29/how-to-get-the-techie-armor-set-in-cyberpunk-2077/

This is a detailed guide showing you where and how to obtain all parts of the Legendary Techie Armor / Outfit / Clothing Set in Cyberpunk 2077!

This guide is up-to-date for Cyberpunk 2077 Update 2.2
Please note that with Update 2.0 CD Projekt RED removed stats and armor from almost all clothing pieces. The images showing the clothes in this guide are from before 2.0. The method of obtaining them has not changed, though!

  • Important notes regarding the 2.0 Update and how it affects this massive catalog:
  • The locations of most items remain the same. This is especially true for Iconic Items.
  • Loot and gear are now more strictly related to your current gear and character level. In the stores, you will see items you can actually use.
  • The gear is now structured in Tiers with numbers instead of names. The coloring system remains the same, however the Legendary gear tier is now called Tier 5. It’s still orange-ish and the highest tier available in the game.
  • If a Tier 5 item from the catalog is not in the described location, there is a chance you are too low level for it to spawn there. It’s also possible that CDPR removed the item from this chest or container.
  • Clothing has no armor value anymore and most of the stats from clothes are gone as well. The Iconic clothing items are mostly still in their old locations, but the items now have mostly a cosmetic meaning.

The game opens up after the Arasaka heist when the whole city becomes available to you.

"Opens up" is a bit of a straight, the fetch quest galore becomes available, that I agree.

No idea how you guys play this shit.

'Experienced' it back at launch and turned it off after I had to hear the overweight Latinx not stop talking for over 2 hours. No way you rogue-like cucks are going to convince me any updates they've done have been anything but a band-aid for the inherent issues.

Press F, press F, shoot & shoot and Press F - that's how I played through the Arasaka heist. I've played through longer walking sims than what CP2077 offers as its prologue and honestly I don't know if I'll continue.
Then came the Johhny Silverhand interlude and it was actually so bad that was good and made me realize that I'm just playing a comic book with occasional player input.

I was under the impression that at least the beginning should be polished, but oh wow, the sight of my good old buddy passing the guard in a tight corridor who is scripted to ignore runners basically colliding with his gun shows the quality of this game.

Takermura convinced me to uninstall.exe. I guess if you don't like interactive movies and immersing yourself in the world doing free activities then you'll not enjoy this game.
I felt like I'm constantly trying to wrestle some fun out of the game that tries to restrict me in everything I try to do. It's clear that the focus went to create this emotional storytelling for the player to experience, and the money was mostly spent on advertising and creating pre-launch hype campaigns, so the rest of the game is merely a facade with visible stitches everywhere.

I can't imagine how the game looked like at launch, but even with this 2.2 post Phantom Liberty patch the jank and cut corners show right from the start. They could at least ensure that the first conversations will acknowledge the last line you chose, or you're not instantly greeted by 3 exact clones engaged in a conversation the very first time you leave your apartment.
It's not a bad game, but definitely not a good one either. I can't shake the impression that the game mechanics and systems for the player to use and the story and world structure in which the player operates were developed separately and only at the end somehow integrated together at the last moment.

What. Takemura's not that bad.
Perhaps, but this was just another segment where I did nothing except pressing F when the game allowed me - well, with the exception of very emotional and adrenaline pumping chase sequence in which I could press LMB from time to time. Another 40 minutes of my life wasted.

Nothing beats the endless pointless joyrides with Panam.

The game veers between Visual Novel non-gameplay and mediocre at best open world shooting.

Again: There is nothing to keep a player occupied after the story ends, much less warrant a second playthrough. I can only assume the people who still care are desperate and/or autistic.
