Finished the game yesterday after 145 hours, Phantom Liberty included. I had fun and don't regret playing this.
What I liked:
+ gameplay: total surprise for me, how fun it is. Combination of overall mobility + dash + air dash + double jump makes it a joy to play
+ very fun combat, another big surprise, after the mediocrity of Witcher 3; so many weapons to choose from, each one is different; hacking at enemies with a katana + bullet deflection + slowing down time never gets old, super fun
+ great soundtrack: combat theme, main theme, Johnny's theme, some of the radio songs
+ the game looks great with proper settings
+ very memorable quests & moments that will stay with me: The Heist, The Hunt, Johnny's intermission, Never Fade Away, Chippin' In, meeting Kerry for the first time etc.
+ the game is clearly for a mature audience: people will die, can betray you, hate you, based on your decisions - no sugar coating, fake happy endings
+ the devs had the courage to kill people who seemed important & a lot of work was put into their character
+ the woke factor was much better than I anticipated (although became worse in Phantom Liberty)
+ very unique game overall, worth playing for this fact alone
+ decent story, for once it's not about saving the world from an ancient evil
+ only 3 crashes to the desktop in the whole playthrough
+ it actually feels like a game someone created with a lot of effort, not a corporate quick money grab
What I didn't like:
- the open world feels... artificial? something is clearly missing here to make it more authentic, maybe a simple as more random stuff happening
- the difficulty fell off in the later parts of the game
- very few boss fights; I think the game would be better if all the Cyberpsycho encounters were incorporated as part of regular side quests and were a surprise for a player
- woke factor clearly present in Phantom Liberty (Myers, wtf)
- side gigs were repeatable (although they got much better in Phantom Liberty)
8.5 / 10. The game is worth playing in the current state.
