The most annoying thing about this Ablino Chavs Stabbing Each Other in a Birmingham Council Estate We're Calling Dune game is that Funcom are still bizzarely trying to call this an MMORPG when it's clearly a generic survival game with a Ablino Chavs Stabbing Each Other in a Birmingham Council Estate We're Calling Dune aesthetic. To think these cretins share the same name of the devs that made Anarchy Online and Secret World makes me disappointed.

The recent movies already heavily sanitised and removed much of the cooler stuff in the setting so it's disappointing to see this game go even further on that front.

I'm fiercely opposed to the 'Body 1, Body 2' nonsense in character creators as well.

It's a hard pass from me.

Such a shame. I like the weird hybrid that is sci-fi and fantasy. Wildstar scratched that itch for me briefly but that crashed and burned.

I don't understand the "paid for purple" thing. Purple is in the game because spice blows are that color according to Herbert and spice is integral to the game.
I can promise you that any other interpretation is projection, since this is the literal discussion that the UI director and I had years ago.

How many genders have you bigots got in here?

no cat milking mini-game. Feelsbad.

Honestly the skill system looks dreadful, its giving me Bioware vibes. I wasn't too big on Conan Exiles' either, felt kind of cheap and lazy to have the riddle of steel locked behind a skill check - whereas it should've been something you had to earn not grind. (sort of like how you'd unlock Jedi in SWG pre-CU/NGE)

The good that I see, at least the vehicles look fun to play with, this is something new that funcom hasn't done since Anarchy Online (and even then not like this). Yeaahhh Anarchy Online really spoiled us so you guys making a Dunc game that doesn't borrow from that heritage is a bit disappointing and such a missed opportunity because Anarchy is so similar in its setting to Dunc. Because yeah when I think Funcom making a Dunc game I'm immediately going to go to Anarchy Online and remember how absolutely fantastic that game was and how appropriate it'd be for the setting. But alas - its just MMO Mass Effect/Rebadged Conan Exiles. And the setting isn't going to be enough to carry this.

Playable Spacing Guild might change my mind though if it happens.

what's the license price? 5 dolla? because i doubt they had a larged budget.
I don't really know the details, but I don't think it was that expensive.

It's like The Secret World RPG books - I think it's nice that people are invested in the IP and want to make a PnP RPG out of it. We don't really have time to do this ourselves, so licensing to them isn't really about making money off them, but letting them expand the universe.

it's about time to show ca and gw that warhammer 40k is a gold mine, by having your mutant chronicles game. it'd be perfect as a battlefield or total war, top would be planetside or action-oriented mmo. bonus points since mc is a serious setting, while wh has become a parody of itself, fantasy is a sunday morning cartoon and 40k is an over the top soap opera.

Yeah gotta launch this Dune one first.

I don't really know what you are referring to with the Riddle of Steel being behind a skill check (I don't think Exiles has skill checks). I know they added a Riddle of Steel DLC after I left the project but I don't recall skill checks.

But in any case the "Riddle of Steel" was made up by John Milius and has fuck all to do with Howard's Conan.
