With the release of <b><a href="http://fallout.bethsoft.com/index.html">Fallout 3</a></b> right around the corner, many of the major sites are struggling to pump out the last round of previews. There's <a href="http://xbox360.ign.com/articles/915/915083p1.html">IGN</a>, <a href="http://www.crispygamer.com/features/2008-10-01/i-survived-four-hours-of-fallout-3-part-1.aspx">Crispy Gamer</a>, <a href="http://kotaku.com/5057227/how-fallout-3-is-different-than-oblivion">Kotaku</a>, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/10/01/fallout-3-hands-on-four-hours-in-the-wasteland/">Joystiq</a>, and <a href="http://www.shacknews.com/featuredarticle.x?id=1012">Shack News</a> with an interview. From IGN:
<br>
<blockquote>At another point I came down off a mountainous ridge and in a clearing found a curious humanoid perched on what looked to be a chair or some kind. I approached and before long he (or she, it was hard to tell) started screaming and sent a pack of giant cockroaches my way. This person was, apparently, some sort of roach king, and happened to have a mini-gun and lots of ammunition, which made dealing with the roaches all the more intense with the sideways rain of bullets. I managed to take out the roaches with a sledgehammer then equip my sniper rifle which, after successfully landing a few headshots, brought my attacker down pretty quickly and gave me access to the minigun.</blockquote>

Edit: There are more previews to be found at <a href="http://gamesblog.ugo.com/index.php/gamesblog/more/fallout_3_4_more_hours_warning_spoilers/">UGO</a>, <a href="http://www.giantbomb.com/news/traipsing-through-fallout-3s-wasteland/314/">Giant Bomb</a>, <a href="http://www.gamespot.com/xbox360/rpg/fallout3/news.html?sid=6198382">Gamespot</a>, and the previously mentioned <a href="http://xbox360.gamespy.com/xbox-360/fallout-3/915010p1.html">Gamespy</a>.

Few headshots isn't too hard? I mean - using a sniper rifle is not fun as minigun or rocket-launcher because it needs a second or two of concentration and patience. Sniper rifles just doesn't fit in fallout's world. Well, I'm going to use "Atomic Sword with Plazma" anyway.

From the Gamespy interview.

At their best, the quests I played directed you toward sites where interesting things were going on. One started out as a "fed ex" quest from Megaton to a remote settlement built on a ruined overpass overlooking the Potomac. When I got there, I found that the settlers were under siege by a group of vampire people. My arrival triggered a far more interesting task: to go find their lair and slaughter them.

Life in the Vault is about to change.

Who wants to bet that you can become one of the vampire people? OK, not much of a bet really.

Fallout 3 is going to be incredibly awesome, although not for the reasons Bethesda intended.

To be fair, this part is even worse. Why is killing them a more interesting task?

Uh, they don't? There were sniper rifles in Fallout 1 & 2.
I am really sorry, I thought that my joke is dumb enough to not take it seriously.

Maybe, but we already know that all the quests end with the PC killing something. At least "Vampire people" is a brave new world of dumbfuckery to explore.

Irony doesn't carry very well through the net.

Are you the same Konjad I know from the AW forums?

Wait, vampires?

So? It's not vampires in the mythological sense, it's mentally unstable people who believe they're special. Like that lady on TV who drinks blood because she believes it helps her, she's not a vampire, she's fucking stupid.

Sorry but becoming a deathclaw is only possible by buying incoming expansion to FO3. It will be named "Clawmoon" and will allow you to built your own vault.

I dont feel like reading those previews so I just wanted to say its increadibly stupid that you have to score few headshoots to kill a guy. And vampires? Whats next? Hidden ocultist faction?

Here are some excerpts from the Crispy Gamer review:

"I close the distance, find my dead foe and loot his corpse for a single slab of insect meat. Already I've got the bug. I want to find something else to kill and farm. I long to find and collect detritus, treasure, guns and gear. "

Because that is what F1 and F2 were all about, killing and farming corpses.

"With judicious use of save files, I try to maximize my effectiveness as a killing machine. On one go, I use too many stimpacks to heal bullet wounds. Another time, I wander too close to a burning vehicle: The thing blows up in my face, leaving my lifeless body sprawled across the asphalt. And then there's the guy with the Flamer. It takes several attempts to snuff the guy before he gets within range. I kill them all, adding their sniper rifle and flamethrowers to my arsenal."

Less than 4 hours of play and you already get a sniper rifle and a flamethrower. It's not about the loot, its all about roleplaying a "killing machine"!

"I walk to the edge of the overpass where the ruined people-carrier teeters. I circle the thing trying to find a way to get in, and find none. There's got to be treasure here somewhere, I think to myself. I broaden my search, checking the improvised bunkers the Renegades have propped up on the broken street. I come out empty-handed. There's not a treasure chest to be found. No gold. No jewels.

We just gave you something that lights people on fire!

Yeah, maybe I need to readjust my expectations when it comes to wasteland loot.

My gawd, they have turned Fallout into a Single player MMO. Its couldn't get more dumbed down.

In previous FO it was also easy to gain uber weapons if you knew where to look for them.

Yes. There is no place for 2 Konjads on the net anyway.

Yes true, but remember, anything from the past is always correct, and putting down newer games is a law over here, even if they're wrong (usually).
