...and it's a wild mutant dog, as revealed by Brian Fargo on Twitter:

Here is a little sneak look at one of the enemy portraits from #wasteland 2. Enjoy!

Heh, Brian recently posted a photo of a RL ugly dog on his Twitter, so this is not unexpected.

I'm very glad about this. So enemies will have static portraits like in Arcanum? I like that very much. Now if only they brought back "tell me about button" and textual descriptions... :D

Yeah, I liked this feature in the original NWN.

It's kinda lazy as a portrait, though. And I don't mean that in the classic 'let's bitch for the sake of it' sense but really, they just drew this face on top of a doberman. Maybe we can get Catherine Zeta-Jones as a party member again.

Still, much better than flavorless 3d ones.

^That's the exact picture that sprang to my mind when I saw the portrait. I like it though.

Yeah, I forgot the NWN. It had some nice portraits. It brings some charm to the games, especially if they're 3D.

+1 to the "That dog image was the first thing I thought of..." sentiment.

+1 to the "Don't really care either way about this image..." sentiment.

+1 to the "Are they really going to have static portraits for enemies? Cool!" sentiment.

I think I'm one of the few who would be perfectly happy with portrait style combat like was in WL1 and Bard's Tale. I know they aren't doing that, but I never found it negatively impacting to game play.

Gregz alter-ego: but you want a JA2-style wasteland experience! :Iamtorn:

You mean blob combat and animated portraits?

Why would a "wild mutant dog" have a collar?

Maybe he only became wild relatively recently...

Nevertheless, the fact that his adorable little bell is dripping with green radioactive goo is rather fun. I like it, blatant theft and all.

Yep, lots of blobber hate here at the 'Dex but I love them. Especially the Might and Magic games, Wizardry, Bard's Tale, Wasteland, etc.

Not sure if serious...

But yeah, I'd have really liked it if W2 had the same combat system.
