Not that casual cause you need to invest couple hundred hours to have a decent grasp of what ticks beneath and champs abilities/item builds/synergys etc.

Casual is Bejeweled, this and Dota are serious time investments. And its not like shooter genre either, you can start playing a multiplayer shooter you never played before and after a few hours you'll improve conciderably. Here we talk about months of playing and people will still call you noob if you derp a play.

Most of the LoL players I know are casual, they don't play the dota mode either. They actually spend money on the game too, poor souls.

I haven't spent a cent on DotA.

Dota is not objectively better than LoL. How could someone claim such a thing?
It's far more complex and requires a lot more practice to master, however. So if that's your thing, you'll probably enjoy Dota more.

LoL is more popular because it has been free to play for a very long time, and it has a very accessible and casual presentation. Perhaps more people like it. But how is that relevant? More people like Miley Cyrus than Pink Floyd too.

LoL is only casual relative to Dota. I'm sure it takes a long time to learn and master, but not as long as Dota.

oh look, Zed who doesn't know even completely basic concepts of the game is making claims of how they differ again
you explained the basics. I have played LoL a long time ago, I just didn't remember this summoner stuff. But whatever you can use to derail the discussion...

there is no discussion, there is just you making claims without a shred of backing

don't expect me to take someone who says "ie games are shit" seriously if they follow that claim up with "there are spells in the ie games?"

like explaining why your claim of LoL having higher lane aggression and skill shots was the most ridiculous shit ever? and especially how stupid your argument is about this making up for "superficial complexity"? which I also explained to you is not superficial?

the fuck are you talking about? who said that? more derailing? keep this to LoL and Dota if you can.
edit: wait, maybe you can't, because you know I'm fucking right.
Dota > LoL in complexity. there's more to master = harder game to master = a more challenging game.

I understand nothing but I'm tagged in this discussion because of PoE, so I might as well pretend I have an opinion.

My friends tried to get me to play LoL and I asked why they liked it over the alternative. Which seemed kind of like the true successor to the game they originally liked in W3, they basically had no valid reasons, just plain old inertia. Besides, look at those production values, LoL makes W3 look good, that sexy DOTA art,..Too bad they used it there instead of in Warcraft 4.

DOTA master race, LoL is for casual babies.

HoN was better than both when I played it when came out.It was faster DOTA with all features that DOTA2 has now.Only reason (except retarded management) it lost to LoL is that most people are retards, casuals, decliners and popamole lovers that eat all the shit and are more happy to be fucked in the ass.

As someone who has played both games quite a lot:

DotA is better if you want to tryhard.
LoL is better if you just want to kill time after work with friends without using your brain much.

Both games are good in their own ways and deserve their place in the market.

Can we stop arguing now? This is seriously starting to look like the Youtube comment section.

I played LoL for a little bit but the community is so insufferable (if you lose any game it's just endless complaining and threats to report whoever did the worst on your team for being bad) that I just couldn't take it anymore. The gameplay didn't nearly make up for that.

DotA was the same way. Worst community ever.

All games like that have a shit community, DotA is no different in that regard except instead of stupid report threats you usually have stupid "I fucked your mom" comments. The best way is to play with friends. Playing with 4 people you are familiar with effectively reduces the douchebag factor to zero.

MOBAs are fun because fighting against enemies controlled by real human opponents is infinitely more fun than fighting against predictably scripted bits of code, and it will always be more fun unless AI makes some sort of major breakthrough any time soon. Suck it, nerds.
It's amazing no one ever thought of the whole "multiplayer" thing before, right? thank god for MOBAs. fuck, where would be

As a Starcraft player, it always amuses me when someone compares the "mechanical" difficulty of MOBAs. It's like people on NeoGAF arguing whether CoD looks better on 360 or PS3.

Yes, this is the beauty of multiplayer games, not limited to MOBAs, but I remember no decent multiplayer games coming out in the past several years except maybe Starcraft 2 but my friends would probably rather bite their own dicks off than pay money to be able to play on Kotick.net and we're not big fans of shooters so we have to make do with MOBAs.

I acutally started playing DoTA a few months ago to keep in touch with old buddies.

I now wish they'd rot in hell. Tryhard assholes :D

Seriously, though as a "casual" DoTA player, I like the challenge and I couldn't care less if it was LoL or HoN or DoTA. I just play the one my friends play. Something about multiplayer and what DefJam said.

S2Maliken :love:I miss HoN.

I LOVED when people were posting screens of him flipping out, harassing, stalking, and more, the entire community went - "So? I'm sure you've called someone a 'dumb nigger faggot who you hope dies of cancer' before. Let he be the first to throw the stone, bitch, you're special you've never lost your temper. Ohh everyone in here so holy, how dare a man lose his temper. Part of the game man. if your feelings are hurt cause he called you a little monkey nigger trans bitch who is gonna die of AIDs, then he won the mental game. He in yo head."... Like come the fuck on, he is the owner of the company, haha. These MOBA players are absolutely convinced that trash talking and stalking are what makes a good game. After reading that I was like "OK, done with MOBAs, this community is absolutely insane and is truly on par with COD bros".

But hey...ya know, if I made millions during the 90's internet porn boom just like that guy, I guess I'd start a video game company just so I could harass the players all day. In that regard he is really an inspiration.
