This looks so bland and boring. How the fuck can Eugen screw this up so badly? They had a loyal following in Wargame and a niche with nearly no competition.
No content + shit experience = ????
They shat the bed in community management and couldn't decide how to balance their game. It's not for trying; but there were a multitude of problems. Firstly, they were always caught between realism and 'esports balance' and they couldn't decide what they wanted to shoot for. Personally, what I really hated was that they didn't manage their unit assets properly For example, the newest game, Red Dragon, was supposed to be set in the late 1980s - 90s,. However, in order not to render all previous units obsolete, contemporary late 80s tanks like the M1A2, T-80U and so on were limited to something like 2 or 3 per player, which is ludicrous.
The community management was really shitty too. Everything was put down to "engine limitations" while it was obvious dev time was being spent on other things or they were just lazy. For example a common question was why didn't they add in towed units like SAMs and certain heavy arty pieces and articulated units like the Swedish Bv 206, an important part of their army. Their haughty PR guy Madmat said that was due to engine limitations in EE and ALB, the first two games. At a late stage in RD however they suddenly shat out the Patriot super-SAM that was basically a towed system and which violated all their "design principles" of only having units that "plausibly could be in a meeting engagement". Oh fucking sure. It seemed like their dev side and PR side weren't fucking talking at all.
In the end they just introduced new shit like navy and cluster arty without fixing the underlying problems. Some stuff like the cluster arty was fun but didn't get at the root of the game, the navy was downright shit because it was very poorly implemented.
Add in no new maps, preexisting issues like bad UI and the white knight brigade ruining the community with shit liket 'lol their DLC is free you can't complain!!! time to play 10v10 1000 pts tactical (basically DOTA) lmao, most realistic game mode" and the experience really got downright bad.
I could go on, but god fucking damn. I admit I'm biased, people who kept playing might be able to add more.
