One handed sword or knife, with a high evasion... Makes it so much easier when enemies make you counterattack them to death

Thanks but since I'm a pretorian I wanted to stick with them towershields and armor. So I decided to reroll with spears instead of swords. Now I'm poking enemies and shoving them back with my last action points to trigger spears special next turn, worked good so far with.

Any good build for Loremaster?

I got through pretty much everything with a 4/4/7/8/8/9 loremaster with all my points going to Lore, Crafting, Trading, Persuasion and Etiquette. By the time you leave the first town you can get all of those skills to 5.
That stat distribution should allow you to pass every stat check in the game that relates to lore and getting information on the old Gods. Combat is, obviously, not going to go your way. The 9 charisma is purely to convince the preacher that you're the "chosen one".

I am playing assassin(high str/dex+ dodge, dagger, crit str, streetwise and sneak) trying to sneak into daratan compound. on my way to throne room
i can sneak past all but one guards. i kill him, get to throne room and meet the lord. all three dialogue options(persuasion, body count, beg for forgiveness) end in me getting tortured and killed:retarded: is doing the quest for dellar the only option for assassin to meet the lord and live?
i really love that i cant save during my CYO parts. starting over every time i choose wrong room to enter and get shield smashed to the face :M

Well,
you need proper bodycount to really impress him (IF you killed at least one guard at the complex). If you got in silently without kills he should not kill you for that

Ok here is a question. The library, where do I find all the necessary parts (playing as a 100% talker/no combat skills loremster). Also is there anything useful in that library to even bother with it? Oh also I scared away the prospector in front of it and apparently he had one of the parts to start generator on him :(.

Go back to town and check with the crazy Loremaster who lives in the Merchant Quarter tower. He'll give you a part, the curio merchant has another part, and the oil you need can be bought off merchants.
Yes, there is useful stuff in the library, but the most useful thing is behind a Perception check, think it's 6/7 but not entirely sure.

If you invest enough in your social skills you can finish the game with only one combat encounter, and that encounter lasts a single turn if you've got crafting high enough. It may be possible to avoid that combat, but it's definitely possible to avoid every other combat and finish the game.

Edit: Upon further playing it is possible to finish the game entirely without combat if you acquire the Null.

You can even bypass Hellgate and Dead River entirely.

So which kind of weapon you guys are using. I'm using swords but they seem a bir underwhelming even with 10 STR. Going to try another build with 2 handers and dodge instead of block.

I'm currently axing people questions while trying to dodge their answers. Seems good enough so far, swinging huge axe to hit three people and watching them fly never gets old. Had quite a bit of trouble at the mine though, even three poisoned guards had me reloading 5 times.

Hammer/Dodge is an interesting build: swing the big two-handers for damage, and use the special to strip away people's DR to get even the best armoured people, all the while dodging like a madman. You can even do it with 4STR due to the DR reduction and two-hander.

If you go dagger, I'd say some CS is a must to make sure you land a lot of crits, get the passive effects, do extra damage, etc. Or you'll just die to every armoured fellow.

Axes are nice, spears are quite specialised (you want your weapon skill high enough for the special to fire reliably, or you're up shit creek).

Crossbows are a great option for thieves, as Cado's men get access to some nice crossbows early on. They obviously combine well with fire vials.

Press M button or click on a map icon. If you hover your mouse over4 the icons you will see what the are for.
Hm. I just assumed that you can travel on the world map like in Fallout. But apparently it's more like Baldur's Gate, right? If this is the case, how come I don't have the raider's location? I've been given a quest to give them a visit. And another quest to investigate an Aurelian outpost. But they're not on the world map...

You must have them. These locations are called "Bandit camp" and "Outpost". You must click World Map first of course.

Decided to have some basic fun on my first playthrough and make my character a thuggish streetwise brawler. While he lacks the skills to see through many of the deceptions and backstabbing it is clear there is a lot going on. Meanwhile my merc is happy to intimidate, rob and murder his way through the game. So far it is good fun.

And I totally went for all of Sheng's shiny trinkets. Of course it's all fake, but I wanted them for the chance to come back and pound Sheng's teeth in when my brute finds out that he's been had. I'll be sorely disappointed if this never happens. Now to get rid of those pesky raiders.

Tthis game is pure torture. I reloaded my assassin several times to do things differently and murder the thieves in eh marketplace, now I will start again because II just ave to open that door. I just can decide on skills and stayy with them, itts like rolling stats over and over again.

Alright, figured it out. I told Dellar "I'll think about it", which added the quests to the journal, but didn't add the locations to the map. You need to explicitly agree in order to get those locations marked on your map.
Anyway, thanks.

You don't even need the null. Just get the gem from maadoran and go to the dead river.

How about a 10int/10cha loremaster / trader? Will I miss too much like the abyss?

You need higher perception. Perception lets you spot things, like secret buttons, safe pathways, etc. If you dump perception you will die in the abyss.

Does anyone know where the demon inside Zamedi goes when you free him? I can't find him anywhere

Do merchants restock eventually? I'm running out of piercing ammo (again) and my alchemy ingredients are also getting very low. I must say I'm already (probably) guilty of cheesing a bit as I tend to spam liquid fire around me so none can melee me and then just crossbow everyone to death. Doesn't work that well on groups that use ranged weaponry obviously.

No, and wow you must be using a lot of fire. Use crafting to make your own missiles, but if you've used all the fire resources and potions then you're out of luck. Did you find all the alchemy merchants in your town? I think they all have 2.

That fight is a lovely example of how different characters have totally different difficulty experiences. A ranged/spear user with enough lockpick to open the door will find the second battle much more manageable than the first, while a gung ho brawler will probably prefer the first. Both fights also mix differently armoured enemies, so that despite appearances, it can actually be a tough battle.

Still, in terms of difficulty of optional combat in Teron, I'd say:
Easiest - the outdoor behind-the-tavern brawl. Several enemies, but most are unarmoured and you can chokepoint them by the tavern, making many of them go round. They're also nicely lined up so if you're clever you can get them to friendly fire each other.
Easier - the Miltiades fight above, which at least has only 2 then 3 enemies and you can use a chokpeoint in the latter.
Medium - the pickpocketers behind the tavern fight, where you can manage space but the 3 enemies have a variety of arms and armour making it tough.
Hard - bandit camp and outpost fights, the outpost can be tough even after the poisoning if your character isn't very good at dealing with very heavily armoured opponents.

So, where can I get a decent hammer (Steel or better)?

Also, the easiest fight in Teron is probably the squatters in the broken tower. Or so I think.

Steel or better of anything is hard to get until late Teron / Maadoran. AOD has very few "special loot" as part of its resistance to "magical items" in low-magic environments, though later on some unique gear was added to Maadoran merchants.

I forgot about those squatters as I never fight them. Yes, they are easiest.
