Bro when somebody says 3D is shit nowadays he is just being hipster. Just like retards who fap to ASCII. It has nothing to do with the taste.

For Dex hipsters old = good, not good = good.

Also AoW3 looks like AoW2 in 3D. Same amount of detail even. Which is rather nice.
Now try to write the same with longer sentences and with deeper thought.

Did they already say the max player number on map? AOW2 went behind when it had 8 max players rather than the magnific, lovely 12 players a AOW map could host.

Yes, they said it: "We’ll support up to 8 players on a map, just like in AoW:SM."

However i'm less enthusiastic about the Archon (which look like Terminators now, and more humanoid in the previous game)

Archons are now "undeads" so that's why they look that way. What happened? we don't know yet, probably the campaign will reveal it , we only have a small piece of the puzzle at the moment(quote from devs or some description):

“After an act of unforgivable hubris, Aculpolis, the ancient capital of the Archons was swallowed by the waves, taking with it the treasure and knowledge of an entire civilization.”

"The Archons suffered an ironic fate: what they fought, they have become."

the Draconians to name some examples which were posted on the previous page.

Yes, there are people on the official forum also who don't like the new draconian look. They want longer, more "dragonish" faces for them.

No I'm afraid for that you'll have to ask a resident hipster Sea who spends 3 pages of his shitty blog on something that can be explained with a single short sentence.

But you were able to write longer sentences few years ago, and you were not reactive, but you were more proactive. Wow sea has a blog. He is writing long sentences on his blog instead of talking stuff with us.

How despicable. He should be shown an error in his ways by a knuckles.

So if one has a different opinion on how the game looks, and actually prefers the way the previous games look, or prefers the style of other games, it's biased and false?
It seems you are biased by imposing your opinion on others. Megalomania much?

3-D has a bad rep because of how often it is an entirely unnecessary waste. Not only unnecessary, but most early 3-D looked like complete shit. Unless your gameplay involves doing something with a 3rd dimension, which most RPGs and strategy games don't need to represent at all let alone literally, it looks like your priorities are out of whack or you are just mindlessly going with the flow or trying to cover a turd with shoe polish. You can say it's hipsterism to shit on 3-D but it's not like it came out of the blue for no good reason.

Keeping shitting on 3D in 2013 is just being a total retard bro

RPGs and strategies need 3D for the simple reason of looking better in it.

While shitting on everything old for being old is the smart thing to do.

RPGs and strategies need 3D for the simple reason of looking better in it.

What skyway is trying to say is that he is pleased with the look of the tire textures in this game. I think it's safe to say that Triumph will be sleeping better at night.

Nope, still true in 2013.

Yep if you are a hipster - sure.

I on the other hand prefer good lighting and animations that don't look like jerky shit built from low res sprites in my games as well as a vastly superior detail of everything where grass is not just a static part of a dull background texture.

Then again so do you, but it gives you KKKs pretending otherwise.

Yeah, you got me. I totally rejected games like the recent HoMM, a series I've been avidly playing since 1990's King's Bounty, spoiling myself of hours of fun since they were sitting on my hard drive, just to gain some Codex fame. I secretly love to rotate maps to hell and back.

3D is shit. Just look at Civ V, they spent all their time on the glorious 3D. That's why when I played as England on deity or whatever the highest difficulty, the AI was lucky when it sank 2 of my ships in the whole game.
HMM 5 - it's 3D alright, the AI is pathetic compared to HMM3 and there were less factions than in HMM3.
HMM 6 - beautiful 3D, the rest is shit. Oh look, most of the able-bodied recruits were already killed in HMM1, HMM2, HMM3, HMM4 and HMM5, what are we gonna do??? Recruit females!! BOOBS!! There's only 3 kinds of resources + gold FFS.
SupCom is much worse than TA.
Recent XCOM is worse than the original.
Jagged Alliance: The Shit or whatever it's called is shit compared to JA2.
King's Bounty 3D - no AI at all, you can play both games WITHOUT BUYING ANY TROOPS!!! AND WITHOUT LOSING ANY TROOPS THAT YOU START COMBAT WITH FOR 99% OF THE GAME. And there's several ways to do that.
Disciples 3 - I haven't played the previous ones, but D3 was a cluster....yuck.

Leaving 3D aside, because it doesn't really matter much (it's just useless fluff and a waste of time and resources for this type of games) the main reason I'm becoming fucking hostile to the coming of AoW3 is that it looks like sure decline from AoW2 AFAIC and it will probably deliver the final blow to the already dwindling AoW2 community who was still providing me with hours of fun by making new maps and creating or updating mods.
So I probably won't play AoW3, because it looks like a downgrade from AoW2, and I'm not downgrading myself, and I won't get to play new stuff for AoW2 either. A lose/lose situation.

No I prefer a lot more complex strategy games with features made possible by modern graphics tech.

But chess and checkers surely look better in 3D. Played with IRL graphics.

Expanding the website: leader class pages

The Dreadnought in an underground Tomb battle

During the Game Developer Conference in San Francisco and at Gamescom in Cologne this year, we showed some of the different classes that you can play in Age of Wonders III. We had our blessed Theocrat attack a city with his divine units, while our Dreadnought used heavy machinery to crush all around him and defeat his arch enemy Grelka Greenclaw.

Up until release of the game we will show much more of the remaining classes. So we figured it would be the right time for us to organize the information we have released so far and show it in a new overview on the Age of Wonders III website. As a result of that I’m happy to announce our Dreadnought class page, the first of a series of six.
On this page you’ll find class info, special units and skills, trailers and screenshots, explaining you what kind of varied gameplay you can expect.

Aside from new class pages, we’ll also keep updating existing pages with new units and skills.
Please remember though that the game is still in development and things can change for the sake of gameplay or balance.

Yet you never play AI War :rpgcodex:

Wanting good graphics as well as a good strategy game you might as well be wishing for the moon honestly.

Also, why hasn't Tomipapa been given the Plant tag yet?

Yeah so what are you and other people doing in this thread then?

Since you know graphics and gameplay are made by the same people.
