There seems to be some differentiation in theme at least, and a new victory mechanic

Nagas have 4 tits. They are obviously superior to lizardmen who have none.

By the way can anyone who has played the game recently tell us if they fixed the AI to stop spamming stack after stack of level 4 units?

nagas are just a dwelling, no fully playable race.

what a disappointing expansion - i d rather had a new class ( necromancer ) than a new race, especially if that one race is one as boring as those fucking retarded halflings. at least a new class d have opened up new gameplay mechanics since races dont mean that much in AOW3.

the other additions sound just as meh and lame. one thing i liked about AOW3 previously was how it didnt matter where your troops were trained - they could all end up equally good. now we ll have the same shit as in Fallen Enchantress where units not trained in one of your supercities are automatically gimped.....

not gonna buy that shit but hoping the free patch with it finally does something about the AI.

I never experienced this problem, but they talked about patching it in one of the very first patches. By the time I played long games against the AI it was dreadfully easy, even easier than Shadow Magic/Wizard's Throne.

XP cheese is really bad in AoW 3, you max out all your heroes long before even a moderately sized map is complete. The lack of any gameplay past the 30 turn mark is what drove me away from the game, actually. It can be fun to dick around and kill friends in the first 10 turns, but there is no mid or late game worth playing for.

If only they didn't go with the generic battle system this game could be awesome, but no matter how many times they patch it or build up on it with expansions it's still gonna stay bland... Such a shame, had high hope for this one...

It's decent. There are some letdowns, and it needs an expansion(like Shadow Magic), but it's good. $30 would be my price point. The major drawback for me just seems to be that it feels "bland" at times. Lack of major disparity between the races, the maps in some parts are pretty meh.....just not as crazy as AoWSM. Feels cleaner....in a bad way.

As a big fan of AoW 1&2 I did not enjoy AoW 3 at all. The game is very bland as KoolNoodles and others have pointed out and just felt like more of the same in some areas and total regression in others. I can't imagine wanting to play it instead of AoW 2.

The just released DLC makes the game even better. Lots of great improvement all around.

What you've seen exactly? Game has great reviews both users and critics, and wit the recent (cheap) DLC it's a joy to play.

I was gifted AoW 3 a couple weeks ago. How much of an improvement is the expansion? Wondering if it's worth it to plunk down the cash for it or not (haven't played the base game yet)

Gotta admit, at first I disliked the way they made it so any race can be any class - i.e. orcs with angel wings, technocrat elves etc. But it's starting to grow on me. Playing the game now, I find it pretty enjoyable.
By the way, does anybody know when English/American versions of the Collector's Edition are coming out? So far only Dutch unboxings on YT...

I played one campaign mission and halfway into a map. After that i never picked it up again.
Yeah, which means your opinion is invalid. Try actually playing a game next time.

dont be stupid. This is the usual "you must play this many minutes to be able to critisize". That is incorrect.

The game was bland and boring. All races was the same and in one playthrough you could have all races, not that it mattered as they were as said the same.

Not that I was a big fan of the other game.

What playthrough? Halfway into the first campaign mission/tutorial? It's a 4x turn based strategy game. Your opinion is junk in this matter. And no races aren't all the same.

I said a played a map. quite quickly you gathered all races. And yes they are the same. They have basically the same units and buildings. Biggest difference is that they prefer different terrain, which you would either terraform or just use another race as you are not limited in using any.

No there are many other differences. But you played for half an hour, why am I even discussing this with you. Go back to Call of Duty.
