This games reception is largely gonna come down to how big the world is, the smaller the better, people are tired of bloat and poorely paced campaigns. Think of the series what you will, but in older games they actually consulted historians and looked at old city plans to make the layout as realistic as possible for your historical parkour.

Ubisoft games always have hundreds of devs, but even in an assembly line production like that, there's a few people who call the shots, and the nature of individual contributors matters - whether the 3D modelers are dedicated to creating believable historic cities, or just slap some vaguely Asian-looking stuff together to get the job done.

As with every company and every game series, the same issue arises here again: this is not made by the same people who made the previous Assassins Creed games.
It's a skinsuit using the same name, but lacking the same spirit. All the history nerds who wanted to build an accurate 3D model of renaissance Florence are gone, replaced by niggerlovers who want to prove to the world that Sengoku Japan was VIBRANT and DIVERSE instead of having its own unique ethnic identity.
