Yeah dude I'm sure they rewrote the story and re-recorded dialogues in 5 months even though that shit has to be finished at least 2 months before release because of certification.

Would be pretty wild if they did replace the main char with some era specific Japanese guy. That would fix a few Ubisoft problems. The purple hairs would quit and Ubisoft would probably make some money. (Yes, I'm oversimplifying) But its strange that they will not do that. It's almost as if they want to lose money.

Better yet, if they just replaced that black guy with Donald Trump, I think the Japanese would forgive the historical inaccuracies and play it as a fun time killer.

I'm very deep into the 1970s Lone Wolf and Cub manga. The material was so miraculously researched. Such rich historical information. As a European living in America, I wouldn't dare make a video game about Feudal Japan. White people will never go that deep. Martin Scorsese's movie was interesting, but it was only three hours long, not thirty, with as many stories and places as in Ghost of Tsushima or this. I guess the fact that a European or American-made game will never be truly authentic is one reason I can't remember ever wishing for such a game from them, even ignoring the ridiculous leftism. It's not as personal for them because it's not their culture.

Friendly reminder they used to publish a new Assassins Creed every year. It's definitely possible to do all of this in 5 months, especially since the game had 2 playable characters from the start. They could even have re-purposed some Yasuke quests for the ninja girl with minimal changes - just some dialog and voice acting changes and they're good.

Didn't they do something similar during the early development of Origins? I read that the more woke main character was supposed to have a greater role.

They initially wanted to make the stronk womyn character the MC in Origins but the suits said no. You can see the devs got butthurt over this since the MC grovels at her feet every time they meet and she bosses him around (they are husband and wife but they got estranged after their son died). She also becomes the de facto leader of the assassins instead of him IIRC, is revealed to be a really important character in the lore of the series (no one even remembers the dude in the present day but they do remember her), descended from the demigods and gets to kill the big bad (Caesar).

They also try to make every female MC choice after Origins 'canon'.
The short real world sections are also full of obnoxious 'diverse' girl boss characters.

Early telemetry in games like Mass Effect and Assassins Creed showed that only a small fraction of players pick female characters. Ubisoft literally said for AC: Unity that including a female PC was a waste of resources and got hounded for it by the press and woke brigade.

When you realize that nearly all of these decisions are made in spite of what seems to be popular and we had hard data to prove it over a decade ago then you can start to see why things have gotten a little rough for western AAA devs recently.
